How is it that you love me now Meadow,
but then change your mind tomorrow?
does anyone have the answer to this question?

Walnut trees release spent leaves
Shower me in summertime past.
Miles of unpaved roads-
meandering.
Aimlessly wandering. Wondering

You can pick up a brick
and throw it through a glass pane,
or you can look for others
and make a home.
Even if the world is ****,
it’s up to you to plant flowers
in the fertilizer.

someday my house will fall down.
it was never my home

someday my city will burn.
and that's okay

someday my best friend will betray me.
people change

nothing ever stays the same, nothing is forever.

the world is a sandcastle

Beneath the cherry tree
in the back yard
of our first home
we buried our broken promises
deep in Virginia clay
True story. We sold our house with our old wedding bands buried in the yard. Seemed like an appropriate place to leave them.

For years life was pretty normal

Wasn't worried about anything at all

had a notebook full of poems I was writing

Now there online for people to read

Never thought that they would ever be in a book one day

Now it takes me by surprise every time I think about it

Just thinking about how fast the Night Changes

Now everything that I've ever dreamed of becoming a reality
Poem name is taken from the song Night Changes by One Direction and some of the lines are lyrics taking from the Thomas Rhett song Life Changes as well as Night Changes

These days I contemplate the meaning of home
When the last breaths of my childhood are taken away
With every adult who had to leave
When the last of my teen years slip from my grasp
Along with friends who stopped coming over after school
What is left? This house, it stands empty
A new void I've never known
But I look around at ghosts of the past and I see
The pillars of this house creak, but they are sturdy
Changes matter not when the foundation is strong
Home changes its shape every so often, but you can always,
Always live here
