I shall not call myself
a poet
to thee
Instead
I shall allow you
to walk by
and judge me
like the bottle of wine
you did not buy
because my label
appears plain.

Simple
on the outside
I may be
but within
I'm bursting
with flavors
you can't even begin
to see.

And I won't whisper
all
your misgivings

I'm sure
Muscato
is sweet
I know
fancy
and perhaps
giving

You won't know all
by looking at me
even once you're in
tasting to try
the lingering spice
leaves you
craving
drinking me dry.

and even then..

PseudoRealism
Shawn Oct 2015
A dream
Soaring towards
boundless ideas
Paving the path
Verisimilitude

Society.
Placed me in the box of
idealists.
Striding to convince me
my feet
need to find
the ground.

Society.
Untethered me.
Released me
into the realm
of possibility.
Freeing me
to create
Ideology Reality

Chance.
Shawn Oct 2015
Life
a gameboard

Each day, you role a die
& move your game piece
Hoping to move it forward
you pick up the card of chance.

Most often
you get routine.
Rub your eye.
Yawn.
Stretch.
No urgency in this card.
Just another move of living
you'll take for granted.

24 hours
another chance
Roll the die.
Close your eyes.
& hope.
for normality?

normality.
noun.
just another day
of what's expected
a state of the usual
routine.

Every fiber of being tingles
Lachesism.
To be plunged
into a series of obstacles
The core aches
with a hunger
for chaos.
A chance to evade
the eye numbing adjustment
into routine darkness.

Roll the die
with a sense of longing
for the storm.
It may drown you
but life
is a game
of curiosity fed risk

Take your chance.
Pick up that card.

Start. Stop?
Shawn Sep 2015
I start.
you start
when we start

You start.
i start
when we start

We start.
Start.

I stop.
you stop
when I stop.
I stop.
We stop.

You,
stop.
I stop
when you stop?
You stop.
We stop.

We stop.
Stop?

Trapped in my mind
the cage of which there is no release...
Endless time
a myth I hold on to which brings no peace...
These hands... attached to me...
not truly mine...
a bowl of thought seeps through them...
I'm losing my mind.

Vision blurring...
alphabet soup is what I see.
No words form...
I ***** out my belief.
You're disgusted!
Your life full of ****.
You don't care...
I'm no one...
I swear I'm legit.

I feels you.
Though different neurons...
and separate plains...
I'm thankful to breathe smoke
and momentarily ease the pain.

I dare you!
Shred off my garments!
Release the true me within!
Then spark up that stoge
and judge
my
naked cigarette.

Ya-know Me?
Shawn Sep 2015
Mouth gaping
Words spewing out
Don't give a ****
this is me
without a doubt!
Overflowing with
Excitement!
Face painted with
Cheer!
Even in the times
of **** stained kicks
I persevere.
This is just me.
I'm queer.

A Wasted Heart
Shawn Sep 2015
Right food forward, left follows
Forth by the gravitational pull of his electric eyes
Like a magnetic force
Drawing me in, attracting me,
Influencing my strings, convincing me
I am still the puppeteer.

My hand slips away from the grasp of my rules
It has become busy
Tangled within bows and gift wrappings

First, my tongue.
It parts my lips, drools at the gleam of the sharp blade,
Then, communication falls.
Second, my ripe cherry of purity.
Naked. Peeled. Devoured.
Finally, the puppeteer demands
Take a sledge hammer to the wall.
Reveal the heart once and for all.
Tear it out. Gift wrap it.

Into the emptiness I plummet
Down into the bowel, through the stomach
****** awake by the sinking feeling
Empty room, all truth revealing

Right foot forward, left follows
Forth by the gravitational pull
left by his hollows
Body trapped in in the lingerings of his magnetic field
His electric gaze the portal
Storing the Love Comedy wielded in Horror

Tear out your heart. Gift wrap it.
Place it into his arms
Watch him drop it.

Mouth gaping. No tongue to speak.
Just eyes watching, from above to the side
Out of body out of my mind

I am the puppeteer who tore out my heart
Gift wrapped it with bows
Hypnotically placed it in his arms of doubt

He dropped it.
Severing me from the gravitational pull
Awakening me from my trance to witness
My heart there
Pulsating
Against the cold. Concrete. Floor.

Still burning
Shawn Sep 2015
Dropped me like a cigarette
And walked over it
**** stomping it out
Not even worth it

But i'm still burning
Once ignited a camp fire flame in his heart

Like a firefly
The light guided the way
In the dark

Thought he'd be the one to catch me if id fall
Never thought he'd hurl me at the wall

Embers of tears violently escape
Of the cigarette
Those burns I can't take

Please RSVP
to the event which is my life
and don't forget to follow me
might you please like?!

<pause>

It's been days
& virtually
no likes.
But that's how we judge our self-worth
and give meaning to proceeding in life.

SLAPPED in the face
by an opening door.
My past flashes forward
as I hit the floor.

Liked by many
Disliked by more
I used to relish in the love of my haters
like a *****.

Always high
from the love of my admirers

I did not care to be judged
in the social court room
of people for higher.

A hand pulls me towards
the future
which is now
my present
in the past

Pulled forward
to the door
which took me back.

I liked that girl.
She was an ultimate me.
She did not care
to RSVP.

Yanked forth once more
from the protruding arm out the door.

Hesitant I

shoes nervously glued to space
in this time.

Please RSVP?
to the event
which is me?!

I'm guest of honor
*****!

I took my shoes off
and walked in freely.

Yellow and brown.
Stained from years of over consumption.
Coffee or Chai? And periods of chain smoking.

I'm not a smoker. Can't remember the last time I purchased stoges
Last week?
Those weren't for me. Those were Parliaments. And Marlboro Lights.
I smoke Menthols.

*Can I *** one?
