Mountain top,
Riverside dreams,
Leaving behind
Places, people
As they blur through
Passing by
On a journey.

i saw your message
written in your crimson prose
letters you had written
to let me know
now i know
just how
you loved me so

dont say goodbye
dont even close your eyes
dont leave this life
we never said goodbye
one last sigh
and then we say goodbye

why do ya hate me
love then forsake me
you kissed then left
me lost and longin
longin for somethin'
somethin' that mattered
now all that's left
is lost
and shattered

touch my thigh,
make me sigh,
as you ask why,
as i lie
and say "oh, nothing."

A heavy, inward sigh,
As I stare at all the passerby,
Each with their own lives,
I wonder if they think of mine?

Green quill glides down from gray sky
Sweet song sung soft on branch high
Is she cried for her lost love?
While he lay down, a grave sigh.

Insomnia my old friend
have you come to dance again
intentions good? intentions bad?
you keep me up like the leaf in the wind
you keep me up to hear my wines
you see its this dance that we do
like something in between
I take you, you take me
and together become we
insomnia my old friend why do you come why do you go
is it only to hear my woes and sorrows
I write this in the darkness knowing you will be back tomorrow...
The sunset is beautiful
I only wish you were here
to complete the evening

If you were
what would we do?
Where would we go?
Perhaps we'd just stay here
sitting on the steps
standing over the water
leaning on the buildings by the docks
simply talking
about how life has been
individually, several miles apart

Familiar our exchanges might be,
no small thanks to
our fancy flatscreen devices,
I'd still want to hear each word
while we do whatever we desire
because you'd be here
and we'd be together
at last in person again
laughing, smiling, jesting
holding and stroking each other
poking and patting in this place and that
all while looking out at the sunset
although I wouldn't want
to look away even if I could
from those deep brown eyes
flowing with the tone of your soft skin
and the groomed lines of your elegant hair;
perfect as a pristine painting
whether afar or in the details.

I only wish
that you were here
beside me.
Just another fantasy by another hopeless romantic.

i fell in love with those nights we spent
chasing the sunset in your old silver jeep
with the windows rolled down, our favorite songs
playing on the radio and the smell of
opportunity in the fresh evening air

it’s moments like these that remind me
how lucky i am to be alive.

      -   and with you.
