That deep sting that appears when hurt is all you feel and the people you seek comfort from can only say "enough already".
Levi Andrew Jun 2020
today i picked you some wildflowers
i saw them there on the side of the road on my way to you

i flashed back to a time when we first met
when my heart was so cold and my brain
was so blue

i sat there staring at those flowers
they were absolutely breathtaking
just like the first moment i saw you

sky blue eyes, sunshine smile

and in that moment
i knew you’d take the hurt and the pain,
and turn it into something..

...absolutely breathtaking

and in that moment
you pushed me to be something
better than i’ve ever been

whenever i see wildflowers,
no matter where,
i’ll always think of the breathtaking you
the person who helped me through

Walk with me down this path
I'll hold your hand, make sure you won't get lost
Have Faith in me
Listen to my voice, I'll clear the cloud within your mind
Have belief in me
It's rough, you might fall but let me help you up
Rely on me
Every burden, share with me, I'm here

Praise one, without dismissing another.
Stand up for one, without crushing another.
It is not a war. It never was.
Uplift one while embracing another.

the verve of my support (can you?)

the nerve centers,
from whence came
the sugar cane mountain highs
and
the undulating re-marks of my abysses,
shutting, shuttering and shuddering
nadirs and epogees

the pen drops, the mouth moves silently,
reading lips the new sign language,
as the verve of my support is certified loopedinsane

surrounded by affection and beauty,
my visions and wonderful miscomprehensions,
grow dulled from over exposure to my sun's illness

the talk cure for what ails is to no avail,
hum to myself - it will be ok
but can't decide if those words should be followed by a
comma or a period or a solar ellipse
an oval between you and I
a constant space

can you?

Splinter and divide,
time after time,
bluster and misdirect,
point to the workshy or foreigners,
twist the knife in vulnerable hearts
and fan the fear

We’re here because at some point past
we agreed this land should last
that it stands for goodness and right
and all heads shared the thought
so the idea
became

Our disgust and indignance
threatens a retreat
so the squeakiest wheel triumphs
through attrition

Your mission,
should you choose to accept it,
is this:

Call out the heartless, the bleak,
the self self self serving,
the thoughtless, the blinkered
the unthinkers

Every breath, every day
our grit and mettle can save us
and an idea worth saving

It’s the inimitable nature
Of a hand that is extended in love
To the one who walks with their thoughts
As if an immeasurable weight rests on their shoulders

it’s the precise curvature of the smile
That an unfamiliar face gives
To the one whose heart pounds against their chest
After their voice projects into the open
When it's always just a whisper

It’s the bed of relief that lies on the shoulder
Of a friend that offers it in goodness
To the one who never asks and always  listens

It is the heart of the outcast
That blooms into gardens
When they meet a soul
That takes them under their wing
So they too can fly
Without feeling the fall
