SUN
i'm obsessed with light lately
it's not that much of a surprise
i was in love with you, wasn't i?
Sethnicity Dec 2015
The imperfect sunrise of mourning
Tears glittered by sugar and spice
like regretful words of self tormenting
My tounge of coals is removed twice,
Silenced from former end fights,
Forgiveness is found in remembering
She'll  never know how my heart pings
FM static wet windows and cold
lost in moments of sun shards shimmering
All the way down the road.
Ever been thinking while taking the kids to school? I have.
We Are Stories Dec 2015
Your creation burst from my mango
And drips from my lips unto my shirt
As I indulge in your sweet tasting world.
You drip from the tree leaves after the storm
And glisten in the lake outside of my house
Reflecting the sun's might off the soft ripples.
I am captivated in this moment
Where creation stands still
And I find myself at the center of your world
Even when I do not have you at the center of mine
-Oh what a God to be a son to
And to be adored by,
One who never stops showing off his great love
Even when we stop showing off ours.
What a lucky moment
To be hit by the cool breeze in the summer sun
With juice dripping off your face
While you smile at the ripples that distort your reflection.

A little taste of heaven
Not to be wasted-

at the age of
abandon,
giggles,
sunshine,
and flowers,
I only knew
endless sunrises.

at the age of
finally comprehending,
first crushes,
empty playgrounds,
and responsibility,
I learned that there
was more to just being
right and wrong.

at the age of
self-loathing,
confusion,
conformity,
and fear,
I learned what
was worth waking up for.

Ever loved someone like
laying on the carpet in pain
watch the shadows on their face change
see the door open and close
these days the sunlight always looks the same

a pure bird sings out in the hedge,
as i sing up a storm
out in the street.
wanderin', as
usual*.

to fold nicely into
next-moments, to heed
and stifle breath subtly
lit up, glow
on the belly of the
sky mild-cloudy afternoon
we sit and spin our threads.
find small spiders on the sheets,
crawling toward the sun, first,
as we all should've been.

bent n frayed back, all of
this clambering, and all of
the world, and its futures
laid out on 'til
projective infinities,
sometimes halt breath
but
there's plenty o' time,
vast oceans, lightyears
spilling out of the woodwork,
marbles downgutter,
glistening victory &
everything else.

yr light, sweet shine,
sweet universe, blurred
n all glory, as usual,
rains on in
soft patterns.

~~¤~~

I have seen these dark clouds before
Thick blankets that cover your sky
Oh world, you've been missing the light
Those clouds were powerful enough to cover the sun
And their power is increasing as time goes by
That they have reached even the corner of man's mind

They just didn't create the rain but storms
Storms that attack even the small veins of one's fist
They made hearts of stone
And minds as black as night

Tell me, oh world
How much love we need to fold these thick blankets that cover us?

We are waiting for the sun to shine upon our souls,
for the love to melt the hearts of stone,
for the minds to welcome the day

Paint thy sky with love
A shimmering rainbow
That will melt the dark sky over us.

Every home
has a window
but walls
can hold so much

There are faces
never seen
voices unspoken

I see sky invade
shifting clouds to mirrors
sunbeams turn glass to jewels
homes are shining

But who sees through the gleam?
Who perceives beyond the wall?
Who knows the tales behind windows?
Written after a long illness, being aware of how the world was still moving outside my window when my life was feeling very still and weak, and no-one passing by knew what I was going through.  Made me wonder just how much suffering of all kinds goes on behind windows and closed doors - and no-one ever sees beyond the sunlight reflected in pretty windows.  There is so much we never see.

I want to catch up all the sunlight
And give it to you.
And yes, people will be upset,
Because I took their sun away,
But they will understand
Once they see your face.

Because there is no truer thing
Than the obvious chemistry
Between you
And all things
Light.

I tried music
Squeezing my head dry of emotion
I tried drawing
Scratching out an imperfect form through the window
I tried to read, but
There were no pages I could turn.

So, I sat back,
And crossed my legs,
Leant my head back on
My hoodie-pillow
The sleepy sunlight fell and
Tumbled through the dust pane
A smile on its face.

All faces forward
And all mouths shut
The meditative silence
Propped up by the hum

And for a moment
If only for two
We might all sit back and
Live in two times of space between
The fretful embark and the doughy step-off

The bus.
I'm on a coach and after a week of pressing workloads the silence here is wonderful. Surreal as well.
