In an old...
wallet
box
attic
was an old faded photograph of a photographer.
Meant to be...
left alone
put to rest
forgotten
it was since then brought back by nostalgia and the impossible life that was now to be lived without you.
You liked to be...
behind
smiling through
holding the camera
as you were the photographer but not this time, as you were the photographed...
In front of
smiling at
holding a pose
while I became the photographer, photographing you, the freshly captured photographer in the faded photograph.
In an old...
dream
heart
memory
you never faded but remained the still whole of a perfect silhouette.
The perfect photographer preserved in the perfectly faded photograph for...
love
life
forever.
I spent part of today listening to the album My favourite faded fantasy by Damien Rice and it made me think of the idea to write this piece

Do our loved ones
Once deceased return
to us in dreams?

When we walk in fields
with them
side by side
and chat , and smile, and laugh, and cry?

Is death hastily forgotten
like so many pebbles cast
in pools ever so deep?
And not thinking
the absurdity of their death
long past gone
paid by
our loved ones
that now talk to us?

Ooh what sweet dreams
are made of
that brings
us once again
to our beloved
once long past,
only to be awakened
in the morning
by unbearable
fleeting...
     ...heartbreaks
Some believe these particular dreams give visitation
rights from another energy realm

Lay flat on your back and staple yourself to a falling star, make yourself look like a wish burning out of the sky to save the person desperate enough to wish upon you.

2. Nail rose petals to your hands and offer them as the apology you won’t give them after you've left, but they don’t know that yet because you said you were different and they trust you.

3. When things start to fit together make sure you cut the silence with lies sharper than the razors that tear through skin cleaner than a blank page.

4. Tell them to take a breath of fresh water because rivers will fill their lungs better than any summer breeze ever could.

5. Tie yourself to a lightning bolt and hold it down. Keep its light to yourself. Make sure you convince them that you’re not as lost and hopeless as you seem because no one wants to love someone as broken as you.

6. I've heard it said that human ashes make great fertilizer so turn yourself into stardust and pollute the galaxy with your remains. Make your debris cloud the night skies. Grow false hope in everything you touch.

7. Find someone extremely flammable, make them trust you, then strike matches across their weary smile. Even if they don’t deserve to burn in your wake.

8. Make your touch feel like a gun in their hands, heavy with the weight of black steel promises to never leave, and then once they take the safety off…

9. Misfire straight into their chest. Let the impact of your leaving tear through where their heart used to be and mistake the throb of ripping skin and the dull snapping of bone as a heartbeat.

10 .Reload.

So… you want to be remembered? It’s easy really…

1. Make someone love you, and hurt them.

My old home,
My new home
One,
the same.

My building at birth
My building in later years
Leaving,  Returning
I'm reminded of much

My first few years
Are not forgotten
For many back then
Tell me now

I was only little
When we left
As a teen
I return

Flashbacks of past times
With our regulars
I remember much
I never knew about.

To me it's my   forgotten   *past
In the process of moving back to the pub my parents once owned.

And in the deepest silence,
beneath the widest skies,
those who've passed come to sit beside us,
blanketing our hearts in the love they left inside us. ♥

Dear brother,
You were taken from us too soon
Things are different with you gone
But not for a second have you been forgotten
You were as kind as could be, even to strangers
You showed respect to those who spat in your face
You were as patient as an empty handed fisherman
You had the courage of a man who flat-lined to the other side and back
And you had the love of the family
It was a normal day and it was out of your control you were merely a passenger along for the ride at the wrong time
It shouldn’t have happened to you
It was the one time you took off of work to celebrate your birthday
And now everyone remembers it
Because you receive the tears of a nation
And the prayers of the world
September 11, Happy Birthday brother
You were taken from us too soon
Things are different with you gone
But not for a second have you been forgotten

She sat in that chair by the window,
Watching as life went by.
Hoping to receive the letter,
The letter that never arrived.

She sat in that chair by the window,
Listening to the sounds of life.
Clutching to the hope of the letter,
The letter that never arrived.

She sat in the chair by the window,
With the light fading from her eyes.
She never gave up the hope of the letter,
The letter that never arrived.

As I sat in that chair by the window,
With a tear running from my eye.
I wished I had sent that letter,
The letter that never arrived.
This is my first poem on here and I know it *****. In case people wondered the poem is about my Great-Gran, she had a long struggle with life and finally passed away in November 2012.

I ask you, why can't life be like a movie
Why can't we
Love like a romance
laugh like a comedy
and fight like an action
Live like a leading star
die like a supporting role
Sing like a musical
Travel like an adventure
be remembered like a documentary

So I ask why can't life be like a movie
Some of you may notice this sounds familiar, that is because I created a poem similar to this called Life like a movie, but while I was reading it back I wanted to make a few changes so the previous version as been deleted for this remake.

Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed it, if you have any questions please ask them and I will try to answer them a.s.a.p.
