Panoply Aug 2019
they want me to be happy
or else i’ll spoil the mood
so I pour the drink right over
tonight i'll be messy and rude
spin a bottle, bruised lips on hers
“come with us,” they murmur
as they beg me to get ink
so after downing a drink i
ride the bus with windows open
letting the poison air in
past watercolour rain
on buildings with bloodstains
the sky looks so numb
and “let us have a little fun”
stumble on the sidewalk
i like the way you talk
tattoos, we’ll regret
“light a cigarette”
you’ll choke
but not to death
we’re living life
always on the edge
this poem is really cringey and ****** but idc

Everything feels out of focus,
When we're not in the same room.
Spinning smiles of the hopeless,
Grip your words like an heirloom.

abundant whiskey
clashing teeth

I'd like to kiss ya

11:11 stamps your wrist
babe-
it's your cologne I missed
But quiet, this love's second rate
And I'm always one minute late
Be young and crowd-shy,
harangued by a mother.

Come into your voice
like a mouse sniffing traps.

Your audience is a blind man?
Speak closer.

If nearly blind,
remember to linger on words.

Let the biggest card
buffer your blushes.

And the one you wrote?
Read last like you planned.

It’s what’s expected, sweet one.
Expected most of all.

While watching the summer’s sunset
he says, “I have all I need in my hand.
My world, chaos, hopes, and dreams.”
He tightens his grip against his lover’s
and I take a sip of my drink,
hoping to blur the emotions
of his dreams and my reality.
Maybe it’s the spirits in the air
or in my drink but i don’t think
this party is meant for dreams
when all I can see is that he’s not with me.

let's just take a minute
and try to slow it down
before i let you finish
i wanna take a bow
let's just have a toast
we made it this far
i'm not one to boast
but i think we're on mars
imagine if i quit back then
repeating the past again
imagine if i didn't try
i wouldn't be able to fly
got a lot to thank for
i'll be here for the encore
we endured, now let's enjoy
**** it, make some noise

A day you look back
to see how much you’ve grown and bloomed.

A day you reminisce all the lovely
and memorable memories made over the year.

A day you are thankful for all
your blissful ups that integrated themselves
as memories in your mind.

A day you're thankful to the people
you have met over the year that made
an impact for the better.

A day you're thankful for the life lessons
learnt that made your become a better,
wiser, stronger or simply given you a an
edge that you never had before.

The day when you let your ego
be glorified by the wishes and compliments.

The day you feel extra dose of love
and attention from the people around you.

The day you are grateful for the life you have
and look forward to growing, progressing,
creating more memories.

Because birthday to me is all that
and spending the day with gratitude for
your existence and being around the people
who make you feel like your existence is meaningful
and you are beautiful.
