I went on to MySpace
And discovered I was snoring.
I moved on to Facebook
And found some were boring
But I found myself learning
Things I previously didn’t know
So maybe social media is
Not such a bad place to go.
Of course, we made Zuckerberg
A fracking multi-billionaire;
Richer than that clown in DC
With the orange face and hair.
But maybe that is Free Enterprise
The way it should always be;
The people that invent things
Can buy five thousand of me.

So, okay, Entrepreneurs, Inc.
I doff my hat at your energy
And your sense of adventure
And  most lucrative sensibility.
I’m sure if I had thought of it
I’d have done the same thing.
So here is your deserved applause
While you polish your brass ring.
I have no envy or rage for you
Because you have done so well
As long as a sense of privilege
Doesn’t drive us all to hell.
Sadly, that is what we see
Happening to the very rich.
They seem to indulge themselves
And leave the rest of us in a ditch.

So, Facebook has been good to me
And while I decry some of their stuff
A lot of the ******* I hear about it
Is quite obviously air-headed guff.
Yes, there’s a lot of data involved
And that will always be a threat
But, staying up on current news
Of things I have learned not to forget.
I watched the social changes, and
Heard from family and friends
As well as being warned of scams
And noticed styles and trends.
So, I won’t jump on Zuckerberg
And make like he is the very devil
When half of congress and DC
Are completely given over to evil.

is it too cold, for me to get in,
‎I know your secret,
you know my weakness,
‎no more discussions of the matter,
‎mad titan,
‎if this is what you want to do,
‎go head and leave then,
‎saying you don't miss me,
is really hard to prove,
‎is it too cold,can I remind you,
‎that I'm just as cold too,
‎with an extended attitude,
‎blocking your social media,
I know it won't really mean **** to
you.

Hello everyone,

I'm so very sorry … I feel horrible doing this, but I have no choice. You see, I have published my first book on Amazon/Kindle! This piece (and many others) had to be taken down because they do not allow published material to be available online for free. (Go figure) I wanted to leave the shell of the posts because I felt compelled to leave all your helpful and loving comments. (Silly sentimental, I know), but I also didn't want to just have the pieces disappear without an explanation. I feel bad enough as it is!

I owe ALL of you so, SO much for all of your reads, love, and support. It was YOU that gave me the gumption to FINALLY get off my **** and publish! Thank you all for the warm comments, camaraderie, and encouragement! I will still be here, reading, uploading and just being the Rascal that I am. How could I EVER leave you guys?

The book is called “The Way I See It – FictionPhilosophySoul Food” and it will be FREE for the first few days on Kindle Select, so watch for it, if you are interested. I hope that you go and grab it. If you do, I would also hope that you find it worthy, you would leave me a good review. That will help me get in the public eye! Soon afterward (2-3 days or so), it will be available in paperback.

Find the book(s) here: www.amazon.com/author/jeff.gaines

Or find the book(s), and all about me, here: www.JeffGaines.world

Soon after, I also hope to have my first novel (a supernatural thriller), called “Wanderer” available as well!

  Wish me luck!

                                                                       Big, Biggest Love,

Kinda speaks for itself. I have a "MySpace" page ... somewhere. Haven't been there in years. I NEVER did FB or ANY of the others. And now ... watching it's destruction of our social structure, I am glad I listened to my intuition.

All of the goings on (suicide induced by bullying, SHOOTING rampages in Schools, etc.) have somehow inspired me to coin the phrase "(Anti)Social Media". Feel free to use it and maybe it will open some eyes.

I hope the world wakes up.

Why are you searching
Do you truly want to know?
So not to miss out?
My generation and social media
Do you want to be better than yourself or the best ?
Do you want to know your strengths or their weaknesses ?
Learning beautiful words not to adorn but exploit
Little girls are always happy
They don't think about how they look
They are just genuinely happy
Until they start seeing pictures and ads of models
It is so painful to see these little girls compare themselves to them
They don't understand that those models don't even look like models
Due to photoshop and plastic surgery
Why does women have a physical attraction standard
It makes these little girls grow up and start to abuse their own bodies
Just to look like these models in the media

We picture ourselves through filters and lenses
Faking our lives under false pretenses
Have you ever write an open letter to an illiterate god?
To an empty sky blue which keeps blue-ticking you every time you type,

Let me tell you how it started…

It started with 5 loaves and two fish that mankind worship miracles and minor-things not the Christ.
This is a poertion of my long poem called "911-"

Difficulties arise
competing with
all of these
fallacies
surrounding me

We're incomplete
receiving till we overheat
technology's consuming me

Because what you see
it isn't me
it isn't me
system's overloading

We've got to dilate our minds
- disconnect to reconnect -
evaluate your time.

Can’t get my head round the email
“Help me get it right”
“It’s why you do what you do”
“What you do best”
“This will wipe out the opposition”
After much soul searching he took the role
A fugitive who lives with an urban family
An honest story that comments on our times
Or an expensive risk?
It’s a case in point
I could tell you stories you couldn’t print.

A deal was made
Much needed publicity
This one can’t miss
A sure fire winner
Lavishly budgeted?
Almost everything was shot at the ranch....
I Remember the poster in the foyer
“The Goal of the assassin”
“Two ****** hours”
Initially the subject of media ridicule
An eyesore trashed traded or hauled away
Luckily fast forgotten
It died a humiliating death
