you keep calling me "lovely"
and it warms my heart
Robert Oct 2018
I'm still unsure
if what I'm feeling for you
is love
but I like this feeling
a lot

Do you see what I see?
The love in your eyes when you smile
Or the glimmer of joy when you laugh
The way you daydream like it's your job
And how you fidget with your hair

Do you see what I see?
The different smiles you have
One for when you look at me
Complete love and compassion
One for all the corgi puppies in the world
Joy and Happiness
And one for everyone else
Content and peace

Do you see what I see?
My future and hope
Making you breakfast in bed
And talking about the world
Seeing our kids go off to school
Just to come home again

Do you see what I see?
I see the love of my life
Standing in front of me

how wonderful is it that
there’s a word that uses
the most powerful force on earth
to describe another thing

lovely

that must be what you are
whenever i think
there must be a soul out there
who can carry the weight of such a word
i think of you

i think of you and your sense of humor
always making the corners of my mouth lift
changing their everlasting shape
into a grin
i’ve come to dislike
but not when you make it appear

the way your arms have held me
sent electricity through me
yet gave me
a place to call home
a connection
that i hope you feel too

your sparkling eyes
that bore into my soul
like a cat kneading its paws
into carpet
tearing up the seams

your radiant smile
putting me into ecstatic shock
every time i see it creep onto your face
after i say some stupid
even when you laugh
and i forget it’s about me
i don’t care
because you’re happy
and i’m happy

you’re lovely, my dear
i hope you can say
the same thing about
me

All I want is to be called "lovely"
from someone that sincerely cares
Morgan Mercury Sep 2018
Isn't it lovely, to be alone?
Surrounded by the quiet, peace roams.
I once thought this was a haven,
but now I don't know.

I have what I always wanted;
a room to myself,
far from my family,
and a door to close.
I ask myself, isn't this lovely?
But never have I felt so alone.

I found you in the cracks of winter. On our first date, we drank tea from cups bigger than our faces. You also told me you wrote poetry. I noticed how every time you would lick your lips before you would speak. The first time you read me a poem your window was open and it was raining. Your voice cracked and you cleared your throat six times. I was smitten. After our third date, I showed you my favorite place in the world. I took you to a bay on the outskirts of town. I told you the stories I carved into the sand a long time ago. I told you I came here every time the world kept turning but I felt as though I've fallen off, waiting for a guitar solo crash or a midnight knock on my window.

I wanted to tell you, you were my midnight knock. You let me hold your book of poems that night. There were bite marks in them from when you said you climbed up in trees back when you were as tall as the kitchen counter. We had conversations of Bon Iver and soccer as we laid on the sandy bay.

I realized that night I wanted to be there with you when the clock swallows up your time and watch indie movies on Netflix when there is nothing good on TV. I turned to look into space and swallowed all my feelings. I felt hollow when I looked at you and noticed your skin was old and tired. But you looked at me like you were young. You said I was the first to make you feel this way. I was smitten.

At first, I looked at you like a star but ended up seeing the whole solar system.

Oh, you were a book that I never have read
and ask anyone I have read them all.
I studied your cover and fell in love with your spine.
Oh, let me read you
let me explore your mind.

You were an album
and I loved all your songs.
I could sing them none stop all day long
and they would never get old,
not a single one.

You were my favorite flower
and I was a selfish kid
that wanted to pick you,
and keep you all to myself instead.

But you were a song
I had stuck in my head
I sang along until night when I crashed in bed.
We fit together just listen to our harmony.
Come on over
and keep me company.
You can bring your guitar and I'll bring mine
we'll be an unstoppable duet
just you & I
Vibrancy is all that I require,
Since I hold a special beauty all my own.
I'm all that you desire,
When sitting in my glass throne.

I come from fields of plenty,
Bathed in hues of violet.
I'm used for bouquets of many,
Making everything ultraviolet.

My smell is quite unique,
Since I have a spectrum of them.
I have my own mystique,
All coming from my stem.

People love me from up close or afar,
Maybe it's for my color or my smell.
All I know, is that I'm special by far,
Having everyone cast under my spell.
As we lay together
comfortably entwined,
and supine
in this bed.
I can’t get these thoughts
out of my head.

But then you slowly trace
your love on my face.

Your fingers brush across
my thighs, then hips.
You kiss my shoulder,
my neck,
my lips.

I swear to god, I could
stay here forever, just
like this.

-You quiet my demons..
