Not like this.

the path you stumbled for,
left you for some footsteps of a goddess
that we never were sure of her existence.

He left you on the road
oh, beautiful landscape of all
such green trees, such brown leaves.
Do you wonder how I wonder?
wanderlust, collecting dust
of the wasted decades we had
of an item we never truly got to reckon it's form
I do not believe in time
it does not exist
break all hour glasses done.

Dear True Love,

It seems like forever since I've heard you speak
For so long the current of life has kept you out of reach
So before I finally close my eyes to sleep
I thought I'd share a secret that no one should ever keep

Death is a promise and life's a gift
Upon each one is placed such Emphasis
Like a current pulling us further from the shore
We simply long for the way things were before

Now here you are, you are next to me,
Our pain reflects our broken memory.
Since we can fix it all with scissors and glue,
Let us rearrange the old and call it brand new.

Life is a broken and beautiful gift
And each day is either a Hit or Miss
But they Say the truest of forms will show
The truth in your soul you're just dying to know.

Every sunrise and sunset marks a Turning Page
Sand passing in an Hourglass as we slowly age.
We were given a little time, all I want is a little more;
A chance to redefine, and see what I've been waiting for.

Death is a cold, blindfolded kiss
Once more, there's placed such emphasis,
If you listen just right you can hear my Ghost crying,
I'm still trying to decide if I'm living or if I'm dying.

Oh, My One True Love,

Like Clockwork we must all come to an end;
I'm so glad I got to call you my best friend.
Nothing made me stronger than your fragile heart
But lo, the time is coming when we must finally part.

I am helpless, like a moth to the flame
The darkness is consuming, but I can feel no pain,
The last grain of sand passes through my hourglass,
And then I'm sleeping, Sleeping At Last

3/31/16
Inspired by the many songs of the artist Sleeping At Last
Do I get enough?
Or just the right amount?Am I asking
too much?Or just not enough? Does she love me?
Or am I just a ghost?
Would I
matter in a hundred years?
Or would the sun burn out before then?
Am I really where I'm supposed to be?
Or am I not done yet?

~~¤~~

Each sand just slips down
Joining the sands of yesterday
And we cannot take them back anymore

I plea for a pause
Or a rain of sands  just in our hourglass
I wish for a handful of sands as refill

Each sand just slips down
While I just stand alone, praying
To hold your hand before the falling of the last sand

Our hourglass...
Dana Kathleen Dec 2015
I will never forget the late November morning
when walking across campus it was cloaked with a ghost
but it dissolved due to a distant radiant gleaming
and I thought how beautiful this place is
and something within me sank when
I realized it won’t be as beautiful
without the potential of you.

And when I looked toward the horizon
you became more than just a thought
and I couldn’t help but laugh as
I watched us gravitate toward each other
because of the irony because
losing you has been the most poetic thing,
you even texted me while I was writing this poem.

But the thing is I don’t know if I’m losing you.
What people forget is when an hour glass runs out
it is started over by flipping it so maybe I’m finding you.
I still want to add more imagery for this poem, but this is what I have for now.

Il est difficile de dire adieu
Lorsqu'on veut rester
Le temps passe
Les souvenirs s'estompent
Les gens nous quittent
Les sentiments changent

Mais le coeur n'oublie jamais
Passer à autres choses
Ne se fait pas en un jour

En quoi ça peut m'aider
À vous dire vrai
Je vois son visage
À chaque fois
Que je ferme les yeux
Que je me reveille en larmes
Parce qu'il n'est pas là

J’ai comme les idees embrouillés
Les reves et les espoirs brisés
Les yeux embués
Les poings serrés
Les jambes paralysées
Le coeur brisé

J’ai tente de t’oublier
Un bon nombre de fois
Et je n’y suis jamais arrive

i must settle with the
speed of sand as it
cascades onto the
heap, each particle
a memory shard
of late night chats
and broken absolute
promises, earthdrops of
silica falling frictionless without
complaint like the way we drifted apart,
the mound of regret a soft malleable thing able to
be shaken and reversed but never lessened, every
grain a lesson, a small piece of us lost among the mistakes.

Hourglass cage holding me like a love,
Hold me closer, tell me of forever.
Sing to me of time, not my lack thereof,
Just lie to me with soft lips so clever.
The sands sub sole sink as the skies expand,
Stretching higher and higher as I shrink.
People are slipping through my open hands.
My tears are now sands that run when I blink --
They replenish but cannot save the past
Slipping away like my grip on the glass.
Each grain like a timer I can't outlast,
I place all my faith in falling morass.
     Grasping memories, hands, hourglass walls,
I hang above the darkness like a doll...
          'til I simply fall.
The end is nearing, but so is the beginning.
