Your aspirations shatter like sugar glass;
the shards taste good.
Was originally a poem about school. Poems evolve, don't they?

I'm sorry that your young life
was interrupted by mine
"just a kid"
3 words to break my heart

but as you grew older
and your excuse became invalid
I was still insignificant
forgetting me
like a French fry at the bottom of the bag

for years
I tired to call out for you,
to reach you,
eventually
I became soggy,
greasy.
when all I wanted was for you to need me

as time continued on
you ignored me still
my love and need grew cold
your lies got old
and I quit missing my father
the one that I never got to know

All I wanted
was to end my pain's appetite
the be wanted
but it's not all your fault
friends,
family,
stranger too
forgetting me
just as you do
but maybe
if you would have loved me
held me
before I became so bitter
maybe
if you hadn't forgotten me
like that one, tiny French fry
in the bottom of the bag
maybe
just maybe
I could have been the very best French fry that
you've ever had.

Pie
I eat pie when is the sun high,
I like to buy pie,
If I don't eat pie I cry,
When I can't get pie I sigh,
Without pie I would die,
Actually I would survive,
I would just eat Thai.
Pie saved me from a hurricane.

Cats angling to be fed
An entertaining start to morning
Written this morning as I was gathering strength to face the hungry hoard.  ;-)

A condition:
Unconditionally
you see
process of
lovers slipping
through windows
tears run back to earth
lost searching
“Did I love you?”
Is this pain?
or
hunger?
I think looking up the word decussation would be cool ;)

You're the only one I'm needing
Everything I'm always wanting
You cheer me up when I'm sad
Make me smile even when I'm mad
I don't think I can ever last a day without you
Believe me for what I say is true
Forever I love you, you, only you

Some might be thinking of their boyfriend or girlfriend while reading this but for me, this poem will always be for Food .

She sat in her kitchen in her underwear, eating left over Chinese food contemplating when life got this hard.

She couldn't remember the feeling of skin against skin or lips against lips. She couldn't remember the heat of someone else's body touching hers or if there was more than just involved.

She sat there with a blank piece of paper and a purple pen in hand... Contemplating if she should write a poem or her final goodbye note.

She couldn't remember a time where she didn't feel undesirable or ugly. She couldn't remember a moment where self hatred wasn't causing nonstop fear of being alone forever.

As she sat there in her kitchen, eating leftover Chinese food, staring at blank papers she started to cry. She started to wonder when things would eventually look up.

In times of clarity, or perhaps
Moments of weakness
(Depending on one's perspective)
My greatest fear, I think,
Is that of dying without achieving
Anything worthy of mention.

The idea of being so ordinary
That your death
(or rather, your life)
Will be rapidly evaporated
from the earth's memory
Like light rain on a molten tarmac afternoon.

But you, at least on a mentally strong day,
Delude yourself with bursts of creativity:
Poetry, film, ideas of grandeur,
All of which persuade you that either
You will not die for a long time,
Or you will someday soon achieve.

This thought is comforting
And all is well.

Until one day you are having
A particularly busy teaching day,
And you rush to the usual spot
To grab a regular taste of Dublin life,
And order your chicken fillet roll:
Lifeblood of an Irish working-man's lunch,
And you eat while you walk -
Both briskly to save time before
Rejoining the rich children.

And the slobbering mouthful of
Delightful chicken baguette
Casts taco sauce from its grasp,
And dribbles down your pubey beard.

You stop and take a finger to it,
Knowing full well that the damage is
Done and that those hairs will grip
To the smell of taco sauce until
The drain tastes their defeat after
A particularly overzealous shower.

And it is in that moment,
With finger and beard stained with
The orange-tinged blood of a chicken fillet roll,
That your ordinariness and worthlessness become apparent
And it destroys you...
Because you always thought taco sauce was spicy.
I don't understand Thanksgiving
I don't understand it at all
Instead of giving thanks for things
We sit and watch football
Americans give thanks each year
For the bounties in their life
Like freedom, food and housing
A loving family, little strife
But, in Canada, it's different
We give thanks, slightly the same
But, ours is a holiday from politicians
It's not held the day we came
We watch football, and eat turkey
Gorge ourselves and fall asleep
Leaving dishes till tomorrow
We know the mess will keep
but, if Thanksgiving has true meaning
And we give thanks, I want to know
Who are we truly thanking really
Is it God ? I need to know
Are we thanking God for loving us
Even though he can't be seen
Do we thank ourselves for what we've earned
It's not as easy as it seems
I mean, really when it comes down to it
What is Thanksgiving truly for?
Is it to gorge ourselves on turkey
So we can watch football some more
It's not something that I'm fond of
It's a day off work, that's all
I'm thankful for my bounty
But, I don't know who to call
To tell that I am thankful
I'm a transplant here you see
I don't understand Thanksgiving
It don't mean much to me
If a homeless man is thankful
Is it right that some are not
They just eat and watch their football
All the things that he has not
He's as thankful as the next man
In fact I'd say he's more
Because to him, a true thanksgiving
Doesn't need to have a score.
