some people make you seriously wonder
    about
what makes them tick so brazenly
    against
all values they supposedly hold high

     is it a tunnel vision
     of greedy individuality?

    a dangerous mix
    of arrogance, innocence, ignorance?

    or are they simply overwhelmed
    with unexpectedly gained power
    mistake the votes of people
for a mandate to play god?

unknown may be the causes
but the results are clear

if you preach water but drink wine
throw precious pearls before swine
say things today that you deny tomorrow

folks may still listen to your words
but do no longer follow the meaning
of perma-hype that makes no sense

sooner or later
they‘ll simply stop listening

I'm fine
  I'm fine
    My heart's on fire
      But I'm fine
No ****
  No wine
    No need for that stuff
      Cause I'm fine

The words on the radio
Don't touch me like they used to
Not a single song out there
Sounds right or rings true

I'm chill
  I'm fine
    Growing colder
      On the vine
The leaves
  They turn in time
    And I'm turning too
      Cause I'm fine

I wish I could capture a sunbeam's warmth
Before the autumn days
But just like the summer in your smile
This too will fade away

I'm fine
Not sure what I'll do but I'm fine
    This heart beats slower now
But it's fine, oh it's fine
I'll try
  To coastline
    Try to glow up
      Til I grow up
        And I show up
          Truly fine.

I drink delightfully the cold,
Like the wine, some centuries old
Silvana Franco Oct 2017
The night is soft and billowy,
Beckoning me deeper into her velvet embrace.
The dark air caresses me,
Like a smooth, silken hand stroking my face.

The breeze carries with it the scent of autumn;
decaying leaves, campfire smoke, pumpkin spice and pine needles.
A heady cocktail that rouses something in me that no other season can.

This, is my favourite time of year.

The bare trees, colourful leaves and crisp breeze soothe my mind.

The long nights of candlelight and incense soothe my soul.

Draped in moonlight and watched over by the stars,
I drink the wine of ancient Roman nights,
of sacred pagan rites,
of owls' sleepless flights,
of lustful lovers' bites,
That dark and warm midwinter wine.

And it is here

As I lie naked beneath the gentle gaze of the moon,
Vulnerable and exposed,
Innocent and joyful,
With child-like wonder at the beauty that surrounds and encompasses me,
Sipping the crimson nectar of the gods,

That I feel whole.

Wine, songs and love. They adorn the festive night: So live, whoever imagines kissing and loving and drinking and singing! Three friendly stars flash into the darkness of life; the stars sparkling so confidently; They are called song, love and wine ...

                                                                                          Theodor Körner
I want to share this beautiful poem which I translated from German into English from an antique wine cup. Hope you like it!  Theodor Körner (full name - Carl Theodor Körner) was a German poet and soldier, who had fought during the Napoleonic wars. He was born in Dresden in 1791 and died in Rosenow, 1813, aged just 21.

and if someday,
some happy day
life grabs you by the collar
and knocks some sense
into your head,
don't think about it
don't fight it.

just remember
that somewhere
in the bottom of a wine glass,
you exist
forever.

When I'm with you, I feel volcanoes burst and lava run over popping candies and bits of fresh flowers. I feel stars crashing against each other on national highways and sparks fly to the nearby pond and eventually die. I feel dust settling in the craters that your body has magnificently carried since inception. I feel the blood flow on battlefields and words flow on blank sheets. I feel masterpieces being written in red and unread books being burnt and shred. I feel light unfold in a garb of you and wings being buried in the hefty snow. I feel meteors flashing as they skim through the night sky and flowers opening amidst a wildfire I feel everything so intensely, so deeply but ******* it, I'm allergic to dust and the mere sight of blood is enough to knock me out of my consciousness. But I feel each word, each syllable and each spark of a dying star. You often come close to me and I  know physical closeness has never been my forte but when you touch my collarbones and breathe down my chest, you become my kryptonite. You're not my lighthouse, you're my storm and I've never felt happier drowning in rage of the tempest. And so today, I only wanted you to know that when I say I love you, what I really mean is that I wish there was a stronger word to describe us.

Get me a bottle of ***** and a glass of Hennessy.
Give me love and I will provide unforgettable memories.
I wouldn’t readily admit this, but you’re my love and you’re my light.
God always hears our prayers so I know that we are going to be alright.
You will never lose me to the wind no matter how hard it decides to blow.
I had given up on love and happiness before you walked into my lonely life.
From a distant stranger to an unforgettable muse all the way through to sharing several glasses of wine with you.
I’m banking on you to not withdraw from the love we have both invested in.
When people ask, let them know you found love in the city where jacaranda trees light up the streets with their purple blooms.
I want to dive into the ocean of your love until I’m soaking wet with happiness.
Until I am drowning in the depths of your love with no need of being rescued.
Love and liberty is all I need from you until our grey skies go back to being blue.
But I could never spend the rest of my life without someone as amazing as you.
