Love you to death.

These are the dying days;
Nothing remains inside to hide.
These are the dying days;
Nothing remains of our lives.
So trying but worth it all the same.
These are the dying days;
These are the times that remain.

Nothing to stop us now;
Nothing to stop us hurting now.
Nothing to keep us down;
So free to feel and fool around.

I love you, yeah I do!
I love you because you love me too.
I love you, yeah I do!
I love you because you love me too.

I want to be somebody;
I want you to feel me.
I want to sing so freely;
I want to sing, sing, sing.

Sing to you, my sweet honey blue;
Sing to you my favourite tune.
Sing to you because I love you;
I love to sing, because I love you.

I love you, yeah I do;
I love you because you love me too.
I love you, yeah I do;
I love you because you love me too.

So please just sing and sing;
Sing with me because I love you.
Sing with me, sing, sing, sing;
Sing with me my love, I love you.

I love you to the grave;
I love you, please be safe.
I love you in all ways;
My last love of my dying days.

Songs of yesterday.

I sang those songs of love since I was a boy,
Way back before the world could ever bring me down.
Motown lead the way and music was my favourite toy,
Way before I ever knew video like I know it now.

Those songs of love that lit the way;
Those songs of love sang yesterday.
Those songs I will never forget or replace;
Those loving songs of yesterday.

Since I was a child of love,
I tried my best to turn out good.
But my life turned out to be a struggle
And I ended up in a little trouble, I guess.

I did some things I should never have done,
When I was only looking for a little fun.
But I crashed and burned like a dying sun
And landed down in the song for the forgotten.

Those songs of love that lit the way;
Those songs of love sang yesterday.
Those songs I will never forget or replace;
Those loving songs of yesterday.

Come with me and sing my songs;
I only came along to turn you on.
I only came to make you think;
So break out past your lungs and let me hear you sing.

i rest my head gently
against wooden beams,
cigarette smoke clouds
pillow case dreams

on a star spangled night
dangling feet off a ledge,
the moon bends light
along a noose i've pledged

the devil calls my name
the weight pulls me down
the angels aren't to blame
ignore their siren sound

i kneel beside my bed
and shake my fists above
this reckless life i've led
sings blue cobalt love
Overlooking Star mountain, my backyard's landscape; I like to have a break, dangle my bare feet over a 60 foot drop and try to smile. It's a sight to behold.

Stand in the rain,
Let the water wash over.
Stand in the joy and the pain,
Feel the drops upon your skin.

Stand in the darkening sky,
Feel the power and promise;
If you focus, if you really try,
You might hear the voice of God.

Stand in the sea
With the waves crashing wild.
Stand; for the one calling is He.
He is the Lamb so meek and mild.

Stand in the temple and sing,
Lift your heart to the One True King.
The waters of mercy, love’s healing touch;
A gift from the one who loves you so much.

Sometimes I’m drowning in a sea of regret,
The storm of sin is bearing down hard.
In these times I seem to quickly forget
That you gave me your calling card.

Sometimes I’m drowning in your love,
Caught up in the storm of your mercy.
You wash me as white as the new winter snow
Your rain helping me as I try to grow.

I am renewed as I stand in the rain
You are life for my soul like a desert oasis.
Strip me away until you are all that remain
In you, I take root and have my basis.

Stand in the rain; sing and dance.
Remember how we got a second chance?
After the flood that covered the earth
God sent a rainbow and a sign of rebirth.

Stand in the rain sense the peace.
Stand in the rain feel the life.
Stand in the rain know the joy.
Stand in the rain see the beauty.
Stand in the rain come alive.
an audacious
ring let
him open
their hearts
with brighter
days ahead
when these
fellows sing
round his
steeple again
to brazen
the world
that behind
a cherished
ring that
has him
sing today
A crowd of people

Waves come crashing, as do
memories of you
How shall I remember you?
The oncoming and dreaded storm
that sends birds to other seas
to be far from it
Or,
the gentle breeze
just gracing the sands
letting the birds glide, their
wings singing so freely
Or,
maybe I'll stay here a while longer
soaking in these waves
Because, well,
what else shall I do with all of them?

my heart is a violin
with too many strings

play my heartstrings
let your fingers pull my emotions
rest your hand on the back of my neck
i cannot make anything beautiful on my own
but sweetheart you can make me sing so softly

hold me close
dear i'll always love you
feel my skin, polished-smooth
warm under your hands
and know i'm yours

calm my frazzled strings
soothe my worn-out pegs,
drawn tighter and tighter and tighter
straining so deeply to hold
the strings in place
let me cling to you
let me take solace and peace
for but a few moments

my heart is a violin with too many strings,
played by too many people
my strings have been drawn taught
my body has grown tired
my music has grown dull
but with your gentle hands
encompassing the surface of my heart
i can learn to trust again
i can learn to sing again
and sweetheart i can sing so sweetly
for you

Nai
Nai,
We walk different jungles
Sun spliced in different skies
Split by a slab of blue
Yet I hear
You

Me, here,
Walking the paths you sing of,
Making hands of the words you speak,
Arriving at the memories you've wrung like a
Needle stuck in my mind

You
Sing like your soul is on fire.
Purring of quiet as silk;
Lungs weeping raw in
Consonant melody sifted in
Soil

Oil
Spilling off palms
Soaked in the blood sun, and
In all my wandering--
I can't help wondering if, in the end,
I discovered you
For a reason

Reflecting on an artist that inspires me: Nai Palm (singer/producer of the band Hiatus Kaiyote).
I've listened to practically every interview I could get my hands on, and decided I'd try and translate my feelings for her music and artistry into a poem. I could probably write about it for 15 more stanzas at least. Here's a start?

Stop the car now.
Sing to me.
While no one is watching.

I want to hear you.
Here before we go further.
A song of the hills.
And of the now.

I want to know you.
I want to be known by you.
That is all anyone wants
