America, is that you?
Your stars are looking dim.
Stripes look nice on prison clothes,
but yours are wearing thin.

America, is that you
there behind the mask?
Of course, I too, am wearing mine.
You don't need to ask.

America, is that you
angry in the street,
smashing windows, spreading fire?
And is your dream complete?

America, was it you
I saw on evening news
dancing like a circus monkey,
speaking as you're cued?

America, is that you
propped up by the wall
with little men surrounding you,
waiting for your fall?

America, use your voice
and let me know it's you.
I can't hear much over the noise
that's coming from the zoo.

America, it must be you,
though I can hardly see.
I'm feeling for you in the dark.
America, it's me.

A tyrannical itch
That is never satisfied
The skin, broken
Smudges of blood
The rugged epidermis
Swelling.

A need that isn't supposed to be there
A soul-crushing phantom
An obsession with the computer screen
For the likes, the applause
For significance.

Like a drug-induced falsity
False euphoria
The itch grows unbearable
But mind-numbingly pleasant.

Such is the nature of attention-seeking
And toxic social media.

I enter to see perfect smiling faces by themselves, with others, with places and things
Here is shiny and there is new with an underlining endless hum of energy
Scrolling is breathing; I can only stop it for so long before I’m gasping
I find myself competing with the perpetual perfection;
Wondering how their waist is so small, their teeth so white and their life so golden
as I sit in the shadow of my own depression.

They made him
A slave of The Past
A slave in the present
Creating slaves for the future

Through that little thing
He holds in his palms
You are holding right now

Medea,
Tell a vision,
You lie and we listen.

Medea,
Truth is fiction,
Make the lie our addiction.

Medea,
Sorceress in blue,
Tell me what is true.

Tell a vision to me,
Make the lie our reality.

Tell a vision to me.
The truth is a fantasy.

Goddess of illusion.
Tell a vision.

Cast a spell on me,
I am your zombie.

Poison is not a chemical
It is a thing in our hearts
It's not there from the beginning
But it can tear us apart

Children get it from the social media
Where it is shared in trends
By frustrated, evil souls
The poison never ends

The one you get in lab
May leave a yellow stain
The one we get in stores
May give us physical pain
Strong poison may
May melt iron ore
But the one in our hearts
Can melt a nation's very core

A bee's dung sure hurts
A snake bite may **** a man
May lead to increased palpitations
What about the human poison
It can destroy an entire civilisations

I'll tell you a little secret
There was once it's antidote
(i.e. love). But it wasn't profitable
So they don't make it anymore.

Spectacle!
Spectacle!
Spectacle!

Upon thee I feast
as your willing
receptacle
thou art my bread's yeast!

Fill me with fear and with grief and doubt
Fill me with joy and with hope I may shout
From atop a tall mount of my own dissolution
And lull me to sleep with your grandiose illusion!

Spectacle!
Spectacle!
Spectacle!

DEAR!

Help me make sludge into mead, crystal clear!
Tell me my roles and opinions and thoughts!
Sell me that which makes my deep emptiness naught!
Oh, you our greatest omnipotent seer!

Spectacle!
Spectacle!
Spectacle!

CAUGHT!

See what you've so serendipitously wrought!
See how so boldly and wondrously you've taught!
For without your guidance, what would be bought?
What would be sold lest the gold you have brought?

Spectacle!
Spectacle!
Spectacle!

FRAUGHT!

What would become of mass cultural trends?
When means for themselves would desist and come ends?
How could we possibly live without you
When you are the arbiter of all that's True?
I don't know that this is finished. Also, don't read Debord the day before an election.

I don't understand
Why some people
Have different opinions
the pandemic or climate change?

Since when did we
start having opinions
on facts?
When did we start
Picking and choosing
Our realities?

The horizon is less
a mystery now
and split down the middle
I won't take sides
to a war wrapped
tightly around
this pretty little future
but for some
inexplicable reason
I can't take
my eyes off of it
