It wasn’t log ago in our history
We had  Presidents we could see
And seeing them didn’t make us puke
Or think of dying from an incoming nuke.
Recently our country was a symbol
Of freedom and hope for the planet.
Now too many people hear America
And, red in the face, say “******!”

The crooks hide behind
The Capitol Hill wall.
What the people want
Is nothing to them at all.

Two, four, six, eight! Who shall we eliminate?
Those who fill their own pockets greedily;
And always kiss the *** of Big Corporate,
While they cheat and steal and lie constantly
We know how much each Congressman makes
We know it’s too much, but certainly not millions.
So come come they get so **** rich in office
And can magically turn thousands into billions?

We know something has gone badly wrong
But decade after decade we just ignore it.
The facts are out there for our scorecards
If we would only sit and simply score it.
Yes, we know they keep moving the posts
And change how we must play the game.
But if we let them cheat us and rob us
Holding a gun to our heads is almost the same.

The crooks hide behind
The Capitol Hill wall.
What the people want
Is nothing to them at all.

It seems like some think this is Old England
And we have our own impervious royalty.
Well, there is only so far this should go
And rightly call it by the name of loyalty.
After a point we are just being dunces
Who bend over and beg them to kick us again.
Anyone else who did that would anger us.
But that’s what happens when we listen to spin.

Here's what I'll collect of us:
1. Your hand holding my nine year old one,
2. small and uncertain
3. small and growing
4. You waking up before the rest of the world
5. The sound of you raking fallen brittle palm fronds and leaves
6. Feeding the dogs
7. Turning the cornmeal for them in the massive ***
8. Your rare smiles
9. The smell of Old Spice
10. Filling the shopping cart with whatever I wanted
11. My too-tiny hands clasping about the cart and pushing it along with you
12. Us scouring the aisles for Eggo's waffles and my favorite brand of banana chips
13. My nine year old self sitting on your lap while you dozed off
14. Our conversations about politics and the current state of the world
15. Our long conversations
16. Our long conversations about your youth
17. Me hearing your story about how you cared for yourself from 15 years old for the 105th time
18. Me never getting tired of hearing about that story
19. Your rare smiles reaching your eyes
20. The softness of your hair as I stroke your head now
21. Sitting by your bedside and being comforted by your soft breath as you sleep
22. Sitting by your bedside remembering my childhood with you
23. The long summers in your house with grandma and my cousin
24. The long summers in your house on the island
25. The long summers back home--back in your home country
26. Your hand holding my nine year old one,
27. small and uncertain
28. small and growing
29. You waking up before the rest of the world
30. You going to sleep after everyone else
31. Your hand holding mine.
32.   Your breath.
33.   The softness and steadiness of your breath.
A list poem dedicated to my 90-year-old grandfather as he battles prostate cancer. I love him and respect him with all my heart. There are so many other memories that I will cherish and hold onto, like most recently, my trip with him to Niagara Falls. These are just a few that I can fondly recall from childhood. He's essentially the father I never had.

Sweet dreams at the dark end of the hall reminds
me of a day when I get close to you.

He was never good with confessing his feelings But
I can show you better than I can tell you.

When he leaves and I walk in,
thinking you're alone , you say its complicated.
when theres no more love to give, I'll be waiting for you,
Its the same scenario.
Its the same scenario.
Its the same scenario.
Its the same scenario.

Love doesn't want to come that easy when you
reach for the top.

Love yourself for the moment cause in reality thats all you got.

Don't be the line cast into the water while the fishes go below.

See reality for what it is in this life and don't end up in the same
scenario.

There are many things
We don't know are real.
From scientific theories
To the forever concealed.
What could be false,
And what could be true?
If you were to ask me,
Humanity never knew.

First up in my list are pretty unicorns,
With majestic manes and glittery horns.
Nobody's ever found one, maybe nobody will
But that won't stop some from trying, still.

Next on the list is maybe the ghosts,
Transparent and spirited, the one of which most
People believe in, but I am not sure
If they can be real. We'll keep searching for more.

Third one's the charm, please meet Bigfoot!
Is he really as real as the fireplace soot?
But if you're a hunter, please beware,
Killing him's illegal in Washington... how rare!

Mermaids are next, at the fourth spot.
When it comes to my reasons, I know quite a lot.
5% of the oceans is all we've explored,
So they might be out there, trapped forevermore.

Last but not least, and this statement's quite bold:
We can never prove the existence of the soul.
What does it look like? Where does it go?
Those are some things I'd like to know.

There are many things
We don't know are real.
From scientific theories
To the forever concealed.
What could be false,
And what could be true?
If you were to ask me,
Humanity never knew.
You can't prove something to not exist.

I guess what they say about “Out of sight, out of mind” is false, or maybe it’s just me. Time has elapsed since you left but in my mind you are still among my fondest memories.

I have given you too much airplay in my mind, you monopolize my thoughts ten times out of nine. I feel weak around you, the way superman is around the green kryptonite stone. Wish I could have you, if chance would allow coz you are bad and you know it, you make cupid shoot me like aww!!!

Maybe this is loneliness talking or maybe am acting on impulse, whatever it is, I can’t deny that I want you. Now this aint that Romeo and Juliet fairytale kind of love that you see in movie screens or whatever love songs musicians sing, to me that ain't true. However, I have a genuine interest in you because of the way you make me feel and the way I feel about you, this much is true.

I hate the fact that am indecisive, probably u do too. Am a Libra man, always weighing out things, trying to find a balance between good and bad. But if my past experiences are anything to go by, I know that it’s a risky thing, love is. A risk worth taking. See you… you make me want to throw away my pros and cons and fall in blind, coz am already falling for you and the crazy things you do.

Wish I could move on… the way boys usually do but see I … I don’t want to.  I know that feelings sometimes fade and things sometimes change but I would love to try. Wish I could bribe time, love and chance, so that I could have my way with you.  It’s not nice to toy with feelings and I don’t intend to. I realized am a man of many wishes but if I had a genie, hypothetical, I would spend all my wishes wishing for true happiness.
Inspired by someone i met, a time well spent. She is gone now but in my mind she never left.

1.) after high school, people really do change. your best friend is no longer your best friend, the girl who intimidated you is now one of your best friends, your old friends never really liked you they just kept you around long enough until they drop you.

2.) that girl or boy you’re crushing on isn’t worth it. yes they may be cute and have an amazing smile but it’s never going anywhere. they’ll never feel the same no matter how hard you try to put yourself out there and impress them.

3.) it’s okay to be single. you’re young and you don’t need to be tied down to a relationship right now. go out with your friends and have fun, meet different guys every night. the right one will come your way soon enough, just give it time.

4.) there’s no rush to grow up. you’ve already graduated so it seems like you have to have your whole life figured out right? wrong. You just need to have some sort of plan, and if you don’t have one right away that’s perfectly fine, there’s no rush to grow up.

5.) you will find your purpose in life eventually. you will find the thing you’re most passionate about, you will have a job you absolutely love, making a decent amount of pay, and be happy. it just takes time.
my birthday was yesterday:)
