It's in everything that we do.
All that you are able to achieve and more.
No matter who you are...
A small reminder for myself and some people I know

You'll have your share of darkness
with as much light you get,
for every moon has to rise
and every sun has to set.

She yells and rants and chants all day,
trying to get them to see her way.
Equal rights and equal pay,
are what she marches for today.

Ladies help define men to stride to be better,
And us men without our equal are prisoned in a soundless white room,
With sensation and voices dulled by empty cup.

The walk without the need to go places,
And the time stopped without her presence,
While searching for something tangible to grasp.

We men are mortified walkers,
Without a purpose or cause,
And lambs of the butchery robbed of shepherds.

We need our guidance,
Soul stone of our pathway.

The woman of our lives are our equal,
The voices where men can have sanctuary,
Our inner solidarity and piece of solice.

They are our inner home,
Our kingdom of fortitude,
The fortress of our essence.
I've heard that our flag represents our fortress, but I wager our equals are our kingdoms.

A balanced boy he was,
the equal of all neutrality,
yet she was enough to make him wild.
~~ Let me turn you to stone. ~~

Democracy is a funny thing
It works for some, but not for all

Lovely when it works for you
When your voice that matters

But a **** shame, when it doesn't
To be at the whim of a majority

A majority who had to vote
Against owning another human being

A majority that said well
Unless you're in prison, then its alright

A majority who said
Being black without a job is a criminal offense

A majority who refused to hire
And who paid next to nothing

A majority who finally agreed for women to vote
Finally an opportunity for them to speak

A majority who said sure minorites you too
But that voice doesn't matter

A majority that makes a the rules
And a minority that has to wait

Wait for a time when its okay
For the majority to give up power

Wait for a time when enough is enough
But until then I'll scream my silent scream

The voiceless will topple towers
And remember it was you who
Silenced them.

What a strange world it is we're living in,
some types of love, thoughts and looks
are considered sin.

People here
they hurt each other,
until they all feel paper thin
and no matter how hard we try,
we let all the hatred get under our skin.

Oh what a strange world it is we're living in.

I wonder if the one
who created this world
and made the planet spin
is watching us now
with a cruel or sorrowful grin,
when the war we unleashed
may begin,
whether he smiles only at those
who win.

The confidence that I gave her
abolished that insidious
shroud of self doubt
she wore about her shoulders,
but now it seems
that when she believes
in herself
I don that cold shroud
and hide in it's folds
of insecurity.

The light I held her in
cast me in the shadow
of her darkness,
and now the brightness
that she shines with
just tends to hurt my eyes
and burn my skin.

I'm happy this way,
cold and afraid,
because though I may lose her,
I know this to be true,
it'll be her turn to find someone
that is lost in the darkness
and make them shine brightly too.
