Separate the hand from the rocks
For too long, and up it comes
The charge of static
The small bolt of lightning that shocks
And elicits an automatic cry.
Its erratic intensity: a measure
Of distance and time that's come between,
Far apart - isolated from contact.
It will ground you, take you back
To zero
And bring you down to earth.

On your own - no change marked
Imperceptible charge grows,
Ions negative and unbidden,
Your remove from society deepens;
Your relation and bond to others weakens,
Until contact becomes a danger
TO ALL PARTIES.
No - from time to time touch base,
Family, funny friend, ground,
You must earth the Soul.

I don't want you to ever have to be alone Elizabeth.
I know too many amazing flower shops for you to have your vases in your cabinets.
I have too many wonderful blankets and even better pillows that you should have any trouble sleeping Elizabeth.
I haven't told anyone that you wrote Frankenstein.
I didn't tell them that Mary Shelley was your grandmother Elizabeth.
There's a creperie on Diversey if it's still there.
Do you like caramel Elizabeth?
I once made caramels in a tin *** on an open flame, it tasted like burnt.
What tastes do you remember Elizabeth?
I know too many fantastic places that your eyes should ever be tired, too many places where trees grow that you should have to keep your feet on the ground.
Electricity couldn't ground you Elizabeth.
Mike Tyson should cut off his ears for you.
The hair on your head is too beautiful that you should never have a reason to go out Elizabeth.
I know the magic that comes out of your mouth, you own silence it should never own you.
I was silence Elizabeth.
I was silence and charade and death and alone.
But then I met you Elizabeth, then I met you.
I would take two bullets for you.
Even if you want to hold the gun.

The world will end in fire or storm,
If given the choice I'd choose the storm.
Go out with a bang is what they say,
Better to drown than to burn.
Yet I can't help but wonder,
Isn't the storm almost the same as fire?
Electricity coursing through your veins,
You fry from the inside.
In the end you'll either be deep-fried or crispy and burnt.
Maybe one'll be wetter than the other,
But in the end, we'll all be dead.

first the crow came often
with a clump of hair in its beak
its glassy eyes would soften
as its wings weakened and waned
now the crow doesn't come
to my tree anymore
but i still hear wings hum
past the crack of the door

Being with you is like the game we would play in 8th grade science class
(everyone would hold hands in a circle to see how long they could stand the electricity flowing through their veins)

But we are magnets that bent over backwards to be pressed against each other

If you are the lightning
reaching
burning through silence
brilliant electricity
(our hearts thunder in the distance,
1 second behind)

I am the key on the kite

the law of never letting go.

You were a nomad in all things
and every time you'd roll your caravan to town
holding a backpack and beating your drum
you'd reach out your hand
which could grip like electricity
so we'd set out together
us gypsy lovers
like birds that chase each other on the wind
and we'd **** the world with our charm
intoxicate with our savoir-faire
until the seasons changed
and you realized that howling at the moon
was a one man job
you bit and you scratched until
wailing, I threw you back into the wild
where you could have it all
your solitude and
your precious moon.
Ah, grief changes like seasons. The bitterness has arrived, n'est pas?

Your bright green eyes show what words cannot
I’m mesmerized by the message they send
For our love, it’s the hardest I’ve fought
The feeling you give me was what I once sought.
You sweep me off my feet with a single glance
With you, I made a choice, I took a chance.
The best decision I’ve made by far was you
And I assure you my word is always true.
I could never do you wrong
Because in your arms is where I belong.
So please never doubt my love and affection
Because I know my heart was meant to be yours
It’s obvious we have a strong, unfaltering connection
When you touch me my beating heart soars
And seems to either do one of two things:
It stops for a moment, maybe just two seconds long
But it’s enough to realize you make the world stop,
As though the earth had ceased to spin on its axis
And the only two people to exist were us.
Or my heart may begin to speed up rapidly
Racing as if I ran a mile straight without stopping
Or as if I were on some kind of upper, high as a kite
And you were the only drug my heart could handle.
So if you ever begin to have a doubt about me or us
Remember what you put my body through
Endless racing hearts and nearly shortened breaths
Because you are electric to me and can both shake me
And calm me in less than five seconds.
You are the only person who can bring me to my knees
The only one to see my absolute worse,
While praising me at my very best.
The only one who knows me better than I even do
Who can make me laugh, cry, scream, and smile
All in a single day

that feeling when (your) finger tips clutch (my) bare skin
veiled in casual apathy
we watch the screen in silence
not knowing what to say

i don't know what went on
behind your flickering eyes
as for me, the moment of contact
sent jumpy tingles up my spine

unexpectedly
my mind reeled forward
to unspent nights in dance clubs or backyard barbecues;
the way your hands felt in mine when we leaned in
lips still intact--
unbroken

i feel like an alien in my own skin
scratching through flesh trying to get back to myself
echoes of my youth ringing in my ears, clawing to get me
back to the way i was before
all the scruffy chins scratched up
my face, making me red and raw and exposed,
before hands meant electricity to me,
before i lingered for anyone other than
a ******* stuffed animal, and
before lips meant excitement and awkwardness and
even *******. i'll just
sleep all day to forget who i am and
remember who i was,
if she's still out there
somewhere.

You kiss like electricity
Flowing through my veins like a circuit
You should have a warning sign
Because it's more addictive than nicotine in a vein
And there's no way I can refrain
Releasing energy only a powerplant can contain
My skin may not be metal
But your touch makes it just as conductive
You kiss like the sea
And you're as strong as the tide
Completely filled with mystery
The more I drink the thirstier I get
