A righteous man cannot stand for adversity
when his daughters weep for the contrary.

A righteous man should not back away from the dragon or it’s flames
and allow his daughters to be swallowed up in war.

A righteous man
knows no good or bad
          no right or wrong.

He knows of responsibility
He knows of compassion
He knows of understanding
He knows of commitment

My father stands before the dragon.

At Tintagel
by Michael R. Burch

That night,
at Tintagel,
there was darkness such as man had never seen . . .
darkness and treachery,
and the unholy thundering of the sea . . .

In his arms,
who is to say how much she knew?
And if he whispered her name . . .
“Ygraine”
could she tell above the howling wind and rain?

Could she tell, or did she care,
by the length of his hair
or the heat of his flesh, . . .
that her faceless companion
was Uther, the dragon,

and Gorlois lay dead?

Published by Songs of Innocence, Celtic Twilight, Fables, Fickle Muses and Poetry Life & Times. The legend of what happened on a stormy night at Tintagel is endlessly intriguing. Supposedly, Merlin transformed Uther Pendragon to look like Gorlois so that he could sleep with Ygraine, the lovely wife of the unlucky duke. While Uther was enjoying Ygraine’s *******, Gorlois was off getting himself killed. The question is: did Igraine suspect that her lover was not her husband? Regardless, Arthur was the child conceived out of this supernatural (?) encounter. Some days I'm the dragon,
Others I'm the knight.
But most days I'm the peasant girl in the darkness searching for light.

the fire doth strike like a storm in the night
in the burning rain do find the aftermath
of the river dragon,
and its broken world

Fire a blaze with a roar so loud, a fort
that keeps people away, vicious sort
with a corrupted mind, extort
the poor and needy, distort
the reality, the people retort
I am the bad heart, now they cavort
as I am no more, the fire fort
has done it's deeds, foolish people court
with imbecile intellect, contort
are their lives now accomplices are now turncoat.

She had a crown on her head
And the soul of a dragon.
Soul of dragon, one of my favourite phrases. To me, it signifies what it exactly says. A dragon is fierce with her enemies, but she protects the ones close to her. She means business and listens to no one. A lady with the soul of a dragon makes heads turn.
Celebrating the strength in every lady.

When faced with turbulent seasons
I weather the storm like a paladin knight

Constantly searching for my holy grail
So I may quench my thirst for happiness

Lost in a shadowed forest of poor choices
Yearning guidance from my round table

Drawing my sword I ****** forth my quill
Shield raised guarding my fragile heart

I pray my fate is not yet written in stone
For I've not yet vanquished life's dragons
