"purchases" poems
"Back from vacation", the barber announces, or the postman, or the girl at the drugstore, now tan. They are amazed to find the workaday world still in place, their absence having slipped no cogs, their customers having hardly missed them, and there being so sparse an audience to tell of the wonders, the pyramids they have seen, the silken warm seas, the nighttimes of marimbas, the purchases achieved in foreign languages, the beggars, the flies, the hotel luxury, the grandeur of marble cities. But at Customs the humdrum pressed its claims. Gray days clicked shut around them; the yoke still fit, warm as if never shucked. The world is still so small, the evidence says, though their hearts cry, "Not so!"

Back From Vacation
The shopping channel calls to me It wakes me up at night To sell me things I do not need Nor would buy, if I was right But apparently, there's something wrong My brain should be re-wired I only purchase things on here When I am really over-tired I have a room specifically For things bought on TV I've ginsu knives and shredding blades And juicers!!!...ninety three!! For some reason the kitchen things Just seem to catch my eye Especially at three a.m. That's the time I need to buy I've magic bullets by the score Processors,  I don't need But, if I ever put them all to use... An army I could feed I've got socks for diabetics Things to make your ******* stand out I've got exercise machines galore I've got three things that help gout! My credit card's at the limit I know the numbers off by heart The post man knows me by my name I even have my own **** cart To deliver all my purchases They just load it and deliver It almost comes here by itself It's enough to make one shiver I don't know how it started I think the countdown clock...ah, yes I thought it meant the game was ending I phoned in and bought a dress!!! I've got jewellery by Joan Rivers George Foreman grills...they fill my den I've got perfumes for the women And lots of things that make you men! My wife cannot contain me She's sent me off to get some aid But, if they sell it on the telly I'll buy it sure as getting laid I've bedazzled all my clothing I eat dried fruit and jerky too I get Christmas cards from Ronco I'm a shopping ****** through and through Each month we have a garage sale I sell off some of what I've bought But, then I go and buy it back again Without a second thought My friends have all but left me I rarely go out of the house I just sit here and go shopping I don't even see my spouse Set it and Forget it That's a phrase I love to say But wait, there's more...is another one That helps me through the day I used the last one on my wife One night while having *** She told me "Set it and Forget It" I'm off to dreamland Tex!! My shopping's an addiction One I hope to beat some day But now, the operator says... I have to get my card and pay!

Are you fleeing from Love because of a single humiliation? What do you know of Love except the name? Love has a hundred forms of pride and disdain, and is gained by a hundred means of persuasion. Since Love is loyal, it purchases one who is loyal: it has no interest in a disloyal companion. The human being resembles a tree; its root is a covenant with God: that root must be cherished with all one's might. A weak covenant is a rotten root, without grace or fruit. Though the boughs and leaves of the date palm are green, greenness brings no benefit if the root is corrupt. If a branch is without green leaves, yet has a good root, a hundred leaves will put forth their hands in the end.

Love
With ideas in her head, she acquires ingredients from creation. She picks up some bread, some meats and some crustacean. With purchases in her hands, she assembles them into her curation. Each ingredient has a plan, that's all part of her preparation. She cook in her pots and pans, dishes of her imagination. Juggling flavours and textures, from experience and experimentation. She host her friends regularly, not any one group particularly. With smiles, laughter and her kitchen art, everyone sense the generosity from her heart. She is the artist, the scientist, the chef, the friend and my wife.

Society moves like a bullet And there's no way to cool it We're not big fans of reflection So we become slaves to deflection Bouncing off of hard surfaces Like limiting gun purchases Constriction isn't part of or vocabulary Proliferation is all we know Watching weapon supplies grow I live in a country Riddled by bullets Bullets that blast through our ****** body Though the holes in our mind are bigger When we can **** those we think are naughty We become judges when we pull the trigger But the media makes mountains out of molehills And it is for those exaggerated reasons we **** We are stuck in a bullet storm When TV advertises bullet **** This helps make bullets the norm So we treat mass shootings with a familiarity Because we can't acknowledge the only similarity Is obviously the gun We're blinded by the sun Of defense contractors They're negative reactors When we purpose a change The conversation they rearrange By firing in every possible direction This is the aforementioned deflection And it works You can tell because people are dying Or standing in the street crying Or watching the news sighing Bullet time has wooed us Bullet crimes have moved us There are people who gain wealth From our diminishing health They hold society on their rope And the only way we can cope Is to ****** that rope from their greedy grasp and pull it But that's hard to do while being punctured by bullets

This week, Jesse Herndon has more on her plate than the typical high school student. She has spent hours after school each day making calls, finalizing details for an event happening Sunday. Collecting donated items for an upcoming silent auction. Calling every bakery in Greensboro. “It’s very stressful,” said Herndon, a junior at Weaver Academy. But it’s all for a good cause. She’s organizing an event with free pastries, live music, a fashion show and a silent auction, which will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday night at The Blind Tiger, 1819 Spring Garden Street in Greensboro. Admission is $4 with the donation of clothing of any size. The goal is to collect clothes that would comply with Standard Mode of Dress, or SMOD, the uniforms required at some local schools. The fashion show will feature clothes from Plato’s Closet, Mack and Mack, and Patina Bridal and Formals. The silent auction would include items such as Weaver Academy student artwork and a gift bag full of beauty products valued at about $200. Herdon is still seeking donations of items to auction. The event will benefit Backpack Beginnings, a local organization that provides food and clothing for thousands of local needy children. All 127 Guilford schools have a dress code, but a few dozen require students to wear uniforms. Some parents have complained about the cost of buying the uniforms. They’ve also complained that the uniform dress codes vary from school to school, requiring additional clothes purchases if a child changes schools. Parents and some students also described dress code violations for wearing a jacket with a hood, a logo deemed too large or the wrong color shoelaces. “SMOD is really expensive,” Herdon said. She knows because her sisters have attended SMOD schools. In January, the Guilford County Board of Education unanimously approved changes to its policy on SMOD. Principals of current SMOD schools have until June to survey parents on whether to continue requiring students to wear uniforms in the 2015-16 school year. Now, school administrators at traditional schools also have to get public input before requiring uniforms. Ever two years, traditional schools with SMOD have to reconsider requiring uniforms and demonstrate public support for the policy.Read more here:www.marieaustralia.com/evening-dresses | www.marieaustralia.com/bridesmaid-dresses

Bring down the moon for genteel Janet; She's too refined for this gross planet. She wears garments and you wear clothes, You buy stockings, she purchases hose. She say That is correct, and you say Yes, And she disrobes and you undress. Confronted by a mouse or moose, You turn green, she turns chartroose. Her speech is new-minted, freshly quarried; She has a fore-head, you have a forehead. Nor snake nor slowworm draweth nigh her; You go to bed, she doth retire. To Janet, births are blessed events, And odors that you smell she scents. Replete she feels, when her food is yummy, Not in the stomach but the tummy. If urged some novel step to show, You say Like this, she says Like so. Her dear ones don't die, but pass away; Beneath her formal is lonjeray. Of refinement she's a fount, or fountess, And that is why she's now a countess. She was asking for the little girls' room And a flunky though she said the earl's room.

How pleasant to know Mr. Lear, Who has written such volumes of stuff. Some think him ill-tempered and queer, But a few find him pleasant enough. His mind is concrete and fastidious, His nose is remarkably big; His visage is more or less hideous, His beard it resembles a wig. He has ears, and two eyes, and ten fingers, (Leastways if you reckon two thumbs); He used to be one of the singers, But now he is one of the dumbs. He sits in a beautiful parlour, With hundreds of books on the wall; He drinks a great deal of marsala, But never gets tipsy at all. He has many friends, laymen and clerical, Old Foss is the name of his cat; His body is perfectly spherical, He weareth a runcible hat. When he walks in waterproof white, The children run after him so! Calling out, "He's gone out in his night- Gown, that crazy old Englishman, oh!" He weeps by the side of the ocean, He weeps on the top of the hill; He purchases pancakes and lotion, And chocolate shrimps from the mill. He reads, but he does not speak, Spanish, He cannot abide ginger beer; Ere the days of his pilgrimage vanish, How pleasant to know Mr. Lear!

Or maybe you already are. like I said a bow, so easy to undo, so simplistic, internally it becomes equivalent to rocket science. Hotel sex—of neighbours dealing in services, buying into the idea of momentary love by the high purchases. It's like swerving in traffic, avoiding real love and looking for some action. Well out here relaxing, feels **** fun. Sort of tragic, but these are the ways things happen. _Imagines._ On the other side, the creep behind the hole in the wall. The married husband, setting up a ***** call. She's a young girl, and a ****** to all—of what it costs to make it big. He's not so big, but will drive into her like a heavy rig. Pay her off, call a cab to take her back home. Rinse himself, spray a little cologne to cover up his immorals. And switch his clothes. What she doesn't know, won't hurt his wife at all. Sort of tragic, but these are the ways things happen. _Imagines._ But she's in another room downstairs, getting tongue licks downstairs—downtown. The young man isn't to proud, at least with the fact he wasn't the first one pointing her down his south. The fresh taste of adultery in their mouth—his pants are half down. His business is hanging out; ready to close the deal of an interesting affair. Then he'll kiss his girlfriend back at their house. I know she's cheating on me too. Sort of tragic, but these are the ways things happen. _Imagines._ The cheating girlfriend is actually over eating in another room alone. With shoes off, to stand herself and her weight. Running to the bathroom with a finger down her throat. A little choke, and upbringing those distasteful words. Her body isn't her worth, and doesn't feel like the one she deserves. Sort of tragic, but these are the ways things happen. _Imagines._ These are the dark rooms, of all the stories in my head. A couple stories high, to keep me up on my bed. They turn into dreams, or have been premonitions for a later reality as it seems.                                                                      _Who really knows?_

English tea and scones with cream.   A cigarette dangles from his lips.  The blonde-haired girl watches as the smoke rises.  Between them a newspaper sits upon the table.   They have stopped to peruse their purchases: The Bletchley code-breaker story always enthralls, and John Lennon never grows old. Smoke rings continue to rise, eventually to fade away .

Shop lights sparkle, dance Making pretty patterns in the winter twilight Small change in a plastic cup, Never shaken, just held, By cracked nail adorned fingers ***** and blue from cold Unnoticed a body perched Silently upon a ***** blue Carefully folded sleeping bag Old worn grey coat Wrapped tightly round Thin drooped shoulders Dull spark less eyes Look out at a world That rushes on by Carrying boxes, paper bags Of material purchases To make the warm giggle With delight come Christmas morn Too busy, too fast to see The plastic cup held steady Enough for a cup of tea is all That’s ever needed, To reach Christmas morn

I Aspiring to reach the solar rabbit hole eclipse --climbing up the well, the photon test tube sodden and crusted on the outside by angsty adults snorting obsession through The Manhattan Project straw. The pirate boy wanted to be named Skip--so determined Alice named him, Skippy, conqueror of blueberry mucus --he reminded her of sidewalks she found far in the misty woods --no one walked the unexpected like him. Each placement of a pore: a bat cave a depressed skull a hollow exploit a lame *** joke a mildew plop Almost certainly this cadaver matryoshka doll would be human by the time the two runaways were born again Hallelujah! The dish breaker is crowning again back to the galleons, rotting awkward candles. "Leave what is human in inhumane places." the well speaks. Skippy tears the corners of his lips to his ears. Alice turns her temple to the sharpest part of the monumental test tube and cracks her childhood back to the bottom --back to Euphoria. light poles open up faces and throw their lights to the ground. Both of the thrift store lovers continue to climb--ripping off purchases to the beggar's tin cup. II Severed hearts beat without metaphor as the empty vessels that hold them. Spines sing of freedom like centipedes facing fan blades. Pirate boys mock the smoker's language of mutiny. Devalued skin, dirty armor casted, lowered, teased, by the cadence of tumbling blood. Marking territories other brother's can smell Obediently, we see what gods are doing to them. They're paying for drawing the different suits of God on the cave wall. Hit jobs--vacuum spoils, sucker punch postage stamps --revenge from a peaceful creator forcing the two to climb/climb/climb back to a speck where dandelions grow from the revolution fetus and graphite, & tongues, & lips, & nerves, & veins & wolf spiders pour down/red matter clusterfucks.

Cigarettes & carrots (part one)

The metal cart intertwined, forcefully ****** it free. I wipe off the microscopic organisms, that manifest in the plastic fibers. Push the cart across the cracking linoleum tiles. Hearing the rusted wheels squeak, as I veer through the narrow aisles. Collecting an assortment of desired items, that seem appealing despite the harsh florescent lights. The radio ads try to entice me to purchase new things. I grudgingly ignore them. Crossing the goods off my list, with a swift black x’s the same black that is seen on the signs for sales. 2 for 3 dollars? Is hard to resist. Blackberries, Greek yogurt, a head of broccoli, soon I have a heaping cart. To my dismay the lines are long, they slowly begin to dwindle down. Cashiers frantically punching codes, scanning coupons, counting change. What is this? Okra? The black conveyer belt constant hum, as it carries my purchases down. Until they are all awaiting for me, in paper bags.

The Anxiety of Supermarkets
When she looks you up and down Like the men you cross paths with on the street Do not cast your eyes to the floor Stand tall; despite the heat When your mother tells you to keep your tiny jeans In hopes of shedding weight like snakeskin Cut the denim in strips And place it all around her kitchen When she throws your baked goods away And replaces them with everything sugar-free Send dozens of cupcakes to her doorstep Then proceed to eat as a hyperbole When your mother purchases running shoes and sports bras Walk around the house in your under-things Lounge in the bathtub with a bear claw Do not let her control your way of being

When Your Mother Suggests Losing Weight
Moths expertly chewing at the clutter Relieving the straight edges, intimately Invading the closet chambers; scholarly Imperfections hidden in the swathes of Clothed hangers, straight backed, angled Shoulders submitting, unthreading, Holed up, no one listening to their slow Demise. The perfect purchases unenergised On a gradual decline into defacement Getting used to their new look, wise eyes Held ears on alert to attack. Held with Surgical gloves so their imperfections Would not harm anyone, whereby difference Remained safely hidden or thrown to the Wolves, heading for the bin labelled 'Scrap' Scratting around for some hope of recycled Remission, getting nowhere. Ferociously Promoting themselves to be perfect in Their own way. Don't ignore my progression Sew me together, **** it!! into invisibility And I will work again for you, Moths securly balled away......

Evolution/ The Independent Operating System Blues
I seem to want to find you here amongst the shrouded leaves To hold my hand so we may fly beyond the forest's trees The freckles on your silky cheeks seem as kisses from the sun And I find my longing grows stronger to kiss each and every one The way you smile at me leads me to the brighter days Pushing all my wrong-doings back to their cryptic graves For all my heart's eye can see is Sara's lovely hue In world's where grass is always green and skies are always blue She sings to me a love song each time our lips dare touch And purchases a heart given which loves her so very much In her sapphire eyes lies my solace and excitement all in one The girl who finds me amongst the leaves who's been kissed by the sun...

Freckles In Autumn
Greetings HelloPoetry community! Since arriving here, I've found a home I could have never imagined, and a support for my work that fills my heart with more joy than I can begin to express to you. I would like to offer a sincere thank you to all of my supporters, and anyone who has taken the time to peruse my work. Now, I must ask you all for one more favor. As a result of my exposure on this site, I was discovered by a publishing company, and have been included in a compilation of nine previously unpublished authors titled Cry Love (http://www.amazon.com/Cry-Love-More-Voices-Verse/dp/0692392408/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid;=1432052822&sr;=8-1&keywords;=andrew+Switzer). The book costs a mere ten dollars, and all of the proceeds go towards ensuring that we continue to find a venue for our linguistic gymnastics. Now, I'm not unreasonable. Anyone who purchases a copy, and spreads the word to their friends, family, and colleagues, will not go unrewarded. For what it is worth, I will help to spread the word of your works, and ensure that you gain exposure with my circle of friends and family, at the very least, in the hopes that you may one day be able to be published as well. This is a dream come true for me, and it would make it all the better if you would be able to purchase one copy, in support of the arts and the continued love for the manipulation of the English language. Thank you in advance to all who may purchase one, and best wishes to all!

A Request *Not a Poem*
All. The mindless purchases The green leaves we inhale The uncontrollable laughter The never ending sky scrapers The musicians in the street Do not change the fact. That we are all alone We have all been used up We cannot measure up. That we were not present The day the obscurity faded. However, they remind us. That our souls remain alert. Striving for revival.
