She said,
“I wish I had done something special,”
“Like saving somebody’s life.”
I looked in her eyes,
And simply replied,
“Oh but my dear,”
“You did.”

Mama see that black man?
Is he friend or foe?
My daughter asks this question
While we’re walking home
To which I must reply
With words that need no thought
I tell her, every man is different
If they’re black or if they’re not
A black man, is special though
And please do not forget
White boys like to party
And leave you all alone
But though the world treats them badly
A black man builds a home

Into this world world will come,
A few,
Very precious souls.
Who  will not fit
Into your cookie cutter molds.
Yet,
To your ideals,
You try to make them hold.
And never realize,
They may be,
The purest form of gold
I wrote this when I watched the staff in a "mental" ward openly laugh and make fun of someone who was challenged when they attempted to make him the same as almost everyone else.I don't conform either and was quite upset by their actions and treatment of this individual. I simply say that they are "differently enabled" than others and  staff would have used resourse myuch better to find what the person was good at instead of forcing them to comply and making fun.

"Kyle" is more than just an unusual acquaintance... She is a "special friend" who (truthfully) I seemed to have known for only two days. When really, it's like I've known her simply as someone who's lived on my own street my entire life! Someone who isn't afraid to get themselves out there (when they feel like it...that is). With a little assistance from the good ole nudging push out the door! This all seems to add up to you reminding me of someone who only seems to be a mere afterthought that keeps coming back and seemingly introducing yourself (yet again) for the better! Someone who I'd voice the very thought that simply started with the word (of the very impression I got from them when they first introduced themselves into how they presented themselves) as "little".... Yes, that only came to one half of such a unifying whole. The entire other half came to a weird little quirky word called "squirt". Put those two together for a "unifying whole" that ends in calling them officially..."little squirt"! Except that's the impression of a mere repeated question I have in the pit of my stomach when feeling excited to interact with this very individual. All in all, the expression of themselves in what to essentially call them simply ends in one word/name... "Kyle"! Since that's what she told me herself in how I know she wants more people to essentially start calling her that. (Anyways, this is just off the top of my head when wanting to merely express the very air I breath when surrounded by her graceful charm!) Meaning she's fun to be around with! She's funny and quirky in how she addresses herself. Which makes me (again) feel like I've known her...all my life! Sometimes even feeling like a little sister I never had! Or a cousin who lives right next store to me as we hanged out by the creek trying to catch frogs. Or went biking in the afternoon sun on the weekends when school was finally out for the WHOLE SUMMER! We also connect in such a way that has me feeling grateful that I became her "special friend"! Since that's what she essentially is too me at heart! As we "clicked" (as she would essentially put it) right off the bat! Since the very few words we first interacted with one another! PS... I hope this makes you tear up "little squirt"...?! Will show just how GREAT your compassion towards it, really is hehe!
This is a dedicated poem to a friend I just only met... Yet it feels like they are "spiritually" more than that, essentially speaking!

The clattering of summer birds,
Against the frame of that small window,
The soft honks that disturbs their dawn,
And the giggles escaping our lips,

The wheezes from clearly tired bodies,
From the small games we used to play,
And the shouts of the old lady,
Sounds so distant yet near,

Remember the ordinary days?
Do you miss it too?

within the blurred lines
of our wild nights
we found a clarity
connections we find in others that can't be defied

She was a wonder of Nature, a special
    thing,
Had this lovely aura about her
The way she held herself, the way she
moved.... way she spoke her words
A real classy Lady that's for sure... a proper woman
What the hell she was doing with me I don't know.

Anyway I invited her to my house one day for tea
She so wanted to see where I lived
She was only in the door when she playfully ran her little
   index finger
Along the surface of my little black table in the hall
And then holding it up for me to see, for my inspection
Revealed a big unsightly blob of dust, a most incriminating
   smudge
She smiled a cute little reproachful smile
"It's true Baby", I said," I've been neglecting things of late, been
   letting things slip
Ever since I met you, I've been so preoccupied
Been so preoccupied with thoughts of you
You're always in my head Girl, your... your great beauty, your...your
   incredible loveliness
You've been driving me to Distraction Baby
And Hey! I like the view from down there, it's great! "

I had her sit down in my front room, she hadn't been sitting
   long
When she pointed at the floor, at my carpet
"You know you've got a hole there in your carpet, a big hole"
And "Look!" she said pointing further down the room
"There's another one over there... and another!"
"What can I say Babe", I said, "you know you have me half
     demented
Every night you got me pacing up and down, back and forth
You're this beautiful obsession to me Darling
You got me walking the floor over you Baby
Been thinking about you so hard, and so often
Now I plum gone and worn out my bleedin' carpet
Worn it out with all my walking".
At this she smiled a lovely kind sympathetic smile.

When I came back in the room with the tea
She said to me, she said "You know over in your corner there
Did you know you got a big cobweb and a spider ?"
"Oh! I said.....Oh Her! So you met my Spider
She's not just any old Spider you know
She... she's my... my Love Spider" I said proudly.
"Your Love Spider", she said a bit skeptically,
"Yea! I never had the heart to take her down
Why! She reminds me so much of you Darling
Reminds me of how awesome your powers are
And how futile it is to resist,
Reminds me of how wonderfully caught up I am
In your lovely sweet sticky web
Of gooey gorgeousness and outrageous delights.
With this she looked at me long and hard
Until suddenly there broke upon her lips this lovely enchanting smile,
"You know", she said,"you're so adorable you are, how I love you so".

P.S. "Phew!" I thought to myself,"that was a close one".
Poem inspired by a lady friend of mine, she is very house proud, loves her house while mine is a bit run down. I wondered what'd happen if I ever invited her around LOL.

I swallowed my saliva
Desiccated air
It was darker than the city
At urban’s edges pretty
First Prize Second
The ringer goes off in sequence
The theme park illuminated
Not with lights but with
The smell of anticipation
Holding our own
Felt like holding someone else’s
Our footsteps
Loud but drummed to the beat of another it paces
The Crusaders mediated
A brawling debut
Of words at the brim
Of our throats in disputes
Our silence
Unlike the night
Was warmer than an Afghan
20 kilometres felt like 2
When I am walking alongside
Hand not in hand
Alongside with you
A recollection of a night walk home with a newly made friend that I will remember forever. "Way Back Home" is a song by The Crusaders, it was the song we were listening to.
