Of all the things I e’er done,
The talks I miss the most,
Of which to night would not succumb,
Or morning force repose.

Of all the things I’ll e’er do,
I hope once more to say
The words which I had come to find
Were absent yesterday.

For all the things I wished I did,
I wish that I said less
As silence is much better heard
Than nonsense, I confess.

Does it brings peace of mind
to accept
what is happening
within Destiny
in the present-moment?

When my mind is caught in the past
regretting my errors
with sadness, disappointment, repentance,
I re-focus on the present-moment
leaving behind in the past
the self I was when I committed errors;
And I focus my attention
on evaluating the self I am
in the present-moment,
striving to improve my self
into the wisdom I need
to achieve joy and happiness
in the present-moment.

I accept
my mistakes
as in the past;
and in the present-moment
I strive to improve my self
so I don’t repeat these mistakes
in the future.

Stuck in the past you look aghast at what already passed
Your brain relentlessly reminds you
Blinded by what’s behind you
You cannot look ahead
Trapped in needless tread
Stuck inside your head

Freedom’s found not from the future
But from finally finding the present
The now that shows you how to turn your head around
To leave what’s done as done
Shut off the nagging re-run
Open your eyes to the sun
Now you have beautifully begun

The moment surrounds
Clears away clouds
Fog fades away
Dismissed by the day
And freed from your chains
Only options remain
A blissful release
What I would call peace

When I fear losing
the happiness
I am enjoying at present,
I re-focus on enjoying
my happiness
in the present-moment:
I enjoy the sun, before it sets;
I enjoy the moon, before it fades;
I enjoy loving and being loved
before my people die;
I focus on enjoying
the happiness
of the present-moment.

"Having gone through it once did not mean it did not hurt the second time. It is painful, raw and heart-wrenching. But I know I am going to get through it. I know I have to invest in myself, the people who I love and love me back and invest in the things that make me feel better so that my past would not hold me captive. I know if I was to work for the better, I would be much happier with my present and would not go back to rekindle with my past as I would have accepted the suffering is part of the path of finding my strength and a better self."

When I think I 'know'
I stop asking questions,
I stop discovering
what an unknown Destiny
is bringing surprisingly
in the present-moment.
Carl D'Souza Jul 2019
When I predict my death will happen
sooner or later,
I re-focus on enjoying the present-moment;
I re-focus on discovering opportunities
for joy and happiness
in my current situation;
I re-focus on discovering opportunities
to improve my current situation
to increase my joy and happiness
in the present-moment.

When trauma from my past
is bothering my mind
I re-focus on achieving joy and happiness
in the present-moment.
