do you recall
the crunch beneath our feet
a gesture small
as we ambled down the street
dirt and gravel
I felt pebbles through my shoe
I unravelled
When I looked at you

Where did you come from
Are you real?
Is this how I’m supposed to feel?
A dreamgirl
In a dreary place
I’ve counted every freckle on your face

Sunlight peaked through maple branches
in such a tranquil way
missed chances to make advances
I always hoped you'd stay
a fork in the road ahead
we went different directions
I used many different methods
to try and snag your attention
Where did you come from
Are you real?
Is this how I’m supposed to feel?
A dreamgirl
In a dreary place
I’ve counted every freckle on your face

you never seemed to notice
you just stared ahead
heart bloomed as if a lotus
while I tugged at a loose thread
sometimes I'd begin to speak
but choked upon my words
so I walked next to you without a peep
and together watched the birds

Where did you come from
Are you real?
Is this how I’m supposed to feel?
A dreamgirl
In a dreary place
I’ve counted every freckle on your face

it's odd and super subtle
the synchronicity
insignificant and pointless
yet means the world to me
quiet walks every afternoon
past the garage and dead leaves
we watched the starlings courtship
do you remember me?

Where did you come from
Are you real?
Is this how I’m supposed to feel?
A dreamgirl
In a dreary place
I’ve counted every freckle on your face

Who am I?
"How silly,"
the pond replies,
"Seems your eyes'd
see through your disguises
a sight better than mine."

But when I reach into the deep,
distorted ripples lull to sleep
the me I'd need
to really make
these murky waters shine.

"Then come inside,
the water's fine,
or at least
it's all you've got to drink."
But if I submerge,
Will I ever emerge?
Or drown myself
with liquid think?

What will I find
but fishing line
cast from some other
fisherman's rod?

Is anything mine,
swimming behind
the genes of history?
Perhaps I'll try...
But I may die.
"Oh, what a mystery........."

For who am I
to have this choice?
Just some noise,
a soulless voice
dawdling in the shallows.
"But would you become
A forgotten old crumb,
A bundle of bone and tallows?"

No, I'd wish not,
but what've I got?
This pond's no ocean,
that's sure.
"So return one day
when you've steeled your faith
or maybe obtained
a magic lure."

I recall now the reason
I love winter's season,
alone on my land dwelling
limbo.
While frozen you are
reflecting the stars
over schools of mindless
minnow.

Read teachings by ponds
He will help light up my life
Appealing wonder
Slowly and gradually feeling more and more positive.
More and more hopeful!

I sit by a pool
That is kissed by lovely light
Singing bird now flies
Back to my haikus! ^-^

Floating over and beyond
Distant looking for a star
To reflect in the pond
He ran away
He ran
He ran too far
Don’t stop the lock
Just let him go
Go as far as he knows
He knows he’s feeling
Above the lowest sky
Maybe this is how he dies
Don’t bet on it
Maybe this is how he dies. Don't bet on it.

Cherry blossoms rain down, causing
                        ripples in the still pond

The bamboo stalks begin to whistle
               with water that trickles down

weathered rocks. Lotus flowers sail and
swirl pink as shells, white as snow
Another Sijo! This one has a total of 46 syllables, the max!
More Lanterns poems are coming, dont worry!
As well as my general ones!
Thanks everyone!
Be back soon!

I'm not a man who understands,
In fact, I fail all the time.
But there's peace in the pond.
I stare,
I shouldn't dare.
I hate to offend.
I'm a mortal man.
Yet still I gaze upon her unbroken soul.
She greets me with calming breath so soft.
Eternal bliss in her blue loft.
It's calm.
She welcomes me home.
There's peace in the pond.
I don't want to leave her;
Too many wonders unseen.
Her invisible hands caressing lush green.
Her mighty soft breath tingling me.
So here's to peace in the pond:
Fly, my angel,
To wonders unseen.
Fly, my angel,
May your Heaven stay free.
There's peace in the pond
