Dear Sledgehammer Heart,

You are tough as nails,
and you are also soft as silk.

You are wildflowers
         blossoming in the spring,
         and again in the summer.

You bloom more for yourself,
                                                     than for anyone else.

You are both student and teacher
           with fistfuls of love,
    clenched for those that hurt.

You taught me
the importance of a good porch:
The Foundation Must Be Solid.
A Home can be built anywhere,
as long as the Foundation is Solid.

You taught me to announce myself,
and to be proud of the songs that come out.
(Even when the sounds are sharp,
they must be set free somehow, right?)

And you taught me
         how to handle a heart
as delicate as mine
     pretends not to be,
with soft hands and gentle love

Stones smoothed into little pebbles
at the bottom of a river.

I can only hope I have learned
               to hold your heart
with the skill and grace of bird wings
And to lift you
                           higher
                                        as you do me.
It is the only way I can think to return
the lightness
                       you gift by existing.

Please remember,
                                My Sledgehammer Man,
             you must simply exist
and the universe is lighter
                 for it.
A love letter written to my best friend, who calls himself "The boy with the Sledgehammer Heart" in his own poetry. No one has ever held my heart quite like you, Lex. I am forever thankful.

is she alive?
or is she just surviving
pulling through day by day
unaware as life goes on

does she exist?
or is she merely a concept
of space
and
time

i'm a girl
in love
with a guy
who wishes
that
the girl
didn't exist!
what do you guys think about this love???
I can't feel my lungs or my heart or my brain
But they exist
So love must too
I want to feel your name burning in my head
I want to write your initials all over the page
I want to curl up next to you at night
I want to fall asleep to your voice
And wake up to your eyes
I want to go everywhere with you
I want to tell you everything that amuses me
I want to touch your lips and watch you tremble
I want to dance with you to the soft drone of Twenty One Pilots
And smoke until we don't feel bitter
I want to acknowledge all the good we had
I want to go on forever with you too
I want to share my food and tears with you
I want to see you grow like roses
And be the person you've always wanted to be
it's a weird feeling, this emptiness. this feeling of existing, but not living. just walking, wandering. lost in life, with no destination in sight. I had one once, but now it seems that a goal that was once at my fingertips has moved miles and miles away from me. I feel like my mind has been tortured by words of negativity— my existence has been threatened by my own hands due to people voicing their "opinions". This Generation has turned the amendment 'freedom of speech' into 'freedom to destroy the soul of a human being.'
Words hurt just as much as being physically beaten, think twice before speaking your mind. Will your words build that person up, or crush their minimum amount of joy left in their frail bodies?

If time didn't exist, how long would we live,
If money didn't exist would we all feel rich,
Would we all free, would we all feel equal,
Would we look after the world better,
would there still be evil.
If tv and media didn't exist would beauty have more meaning.
would our minds be free or would we still follow for no reason.
We'll never know so its tough to call,
but if love didn't exist, then why live at all.
