Smiles, At Last
M Srisaravana Nov 2020
As the dreams of mine unfold,
A darkness bloom, like a heavenly shadow,
In there, a thousand arms grab me by, yet,
A speck of happy memory tangled here and there,
Like dust trapped on a spider web unintended,

As I run chasing them by like a mad, poor child,
The shadow that encircles me even more tighter,
Its wings ever more sharply, tombing me within,
I am too tired, mother, no longer I could run,
No longer I can evade the whispers of the shadow,

Now let me rest, for, it may be the time already,
Caught and uncaught fragments of happiness,
Lay beside me and all around scattered,
All I can see, the shadows of darkness bloom,
To you, my darkness, I have nothing but my smiles.
M Srisaravana Oct 2020
In the midst of darkness cometh the pain,
The soul that is broken beyond reparation,
Looks into the eyes of the darkness unhinged,
Beg for mercy, if such thing ever exists,

The darkness that shapes the broken spirit,
Mold them into an unending fear and grief,
Once you fall into the pits of hell,
Who will come and save your will, alas,

In the midst of darkness cometh the light,
All the fear and grief are gone by the sight,
To me, all of them seems so apparelled, in,
Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind.

He Is She
M Srisaravana Sep 2020
I once saw death and asked why?
So much fear, freezing with fierce,
That could be it; He then asked what why?
Why so much fear I asked,
A dark, cold smile and he vanished,
For there once again light and warm,
But then it was not the death,
Who answered my question,
For his absence did the trick,
Once again, I saw someone familiar,
This time it is life, what a joyful blessing,
Happiness bloomed for she is the mother,
I asked her why once again as I did,
She gave a warm smile and yet,
Again vanished once more without answers,
But death returned with a grim smile,
What is this game you are trying to play,
For he spoke, at last, breaking the silence,
I am the death; I am the life,
In this worldly manifestation, I am both,
It is you who saw the way I was,
Dark and freezing, warm and welcoming,
I am not the darkness nor the light,
I am not he nor she, the mother nor the father,
Listen to my voice; I heard her whispers in me,
At last, deep down I know what it means,
At last, I know what it means.

Wooden Dream
M Srisaravana Sep 2020
Out in the woods as I walk,
Senseless time had passed,
Watching the leaves fell on the feet,
Green has turned into black,
So much trunk, all around me,
No one else there to be seen,
How did I end up so much deep?
Only the dream could tell,
I wish only the dream could tell.

Time, O' Time
M Srisaravana Sep 2020
Time, O' time, my dearest friend on shore,
Too far, too away, I have missed our earthly chores,
In the wind, in the hint, I have searched you for,
Time, O' time, I'm withering without your cord,
When you come, bring me the bells and whistles,
For, my mind is as grey as the snow-filled hills,
Without you, I have frozen in the midst of memories,
Friend, O' friend, come and rewind my fantasies,
One more time, let us hold our hands together,
Not too late, let me see my mother's once again,
And I will let myself go of your deceptive ways,
Time, O' time, my dearest foe of the fate.

Between
M Srisaravana Sep 2020
There is a life, there is a death,
We dance between the might,
For the hopes so high enough,
Those darkest deeds of the past,
Strangles me like strings among,
Between the lights of life,
And the death's charred grips,
I ramble my mind in pale drips,
There must be a way leading,
A path where I could step, leaving,
An eternal spiral of lives behind,
Until then, I shall wander on,
There is a life, there is a death,
I dance between the mist.

Do Not Say I Didn't Try
M Srisaravana Sep 2020
There was a dream, once stood upon my mind,
Like the lilies of the sparkling spring alight,
I saw your pretty face again and again in there,
For the memory was, well imprinted in mine,
They say I have lost my mind; it is no more,
Are all these memories forever lost?
In the end, what would I make of my mind?
Tears are falling like withered white flowers,
Do not say goodbye, do not say you will be mine,
Where once I saw beautiful light, I see darkness,
Where once was warm and love, love is no more,
In my broken mind, I gather them pieces alright,
At least you cannot say that I didn't try.

Do Not Weep
M Srisaravana Sep 2020
Do not weep in front of my tomb,
I do not sleep in the darkness bloom,
I have seen and bowed life all around,
I will transform when the moment abound,
The first light of the day that made the clouds gleam,
The residual warmth that melts the ice off the leaves,
I am the birds that sing happy little tunes,
I am the breeze that touches your soft light skin,
Do not mourn at my solicited grave,
My soul does not rest in the wasted sept,
If you do want to feel me hence,
Look upon the stars in the farthest sky,
Listen to the beat of your heart's lie,
Do not weep in front of my grave,
I do not sleep in the darkness enslaved.

Love Across The Salt Desert
M Srisaravana Apr 2020
All these years, rain fails to land,
No more crops ever stand green,
The land is so broken, the drought is so hard,
Only the salt that's left for the soul to rot,

Years have passed, no drops from the sky,
Hope was fading like a sunset light,
The blazing sun like a sharp silver needle,
Gone was the skin, only the bones were left,

When I thought the land was lost,
I could see no more of the future,
Seen was a delight my eyes could not believe,
What is darker than a moonless night,

Her eyes were black alright, but,
Can her floor-sweeping hair justify,
No more light I have seen anywhere else,
Her soul glowed like a thousand moons,

Her smile that wrapped her lips so gentle,
Sure I knew for it can bring all the joy,
I asked, but not with the words,
She granted a wish as a goddess would,

Brought her back to the Salt Desert, I did,
When she arrived at my village, starved,
The rain that had gone for so many years,
Came to see the love that has just sparked.

La Llorona
M Srisaravana Apr 2020
I see them flowers withering, Llorona,
The cold wind sweeps them away,
The leaves and stems are so empty, Llorona,
Come at ones to collect them, Llorona, Llorona,

There's darkness surrounds me, Llorona,
Like a burned coal mixes with the air,
It has consumed me to the core, Llorona,
You are my absolution, Llorona, Llorona,

They say I bring the calamity, Llorona,
Distructruction above all laid,
Even the full moon will hide from the sight, Llorona,
Take me to the river and show me Llorona, Llorona,

My eyes are filled with sorrow, Llorona,
No more butterflies of colors flip the wings,
A dune of a pale sand desert grows in me, Llorona,
Come with the rain and drizzle me Llorona, Llorona,

I wander in the woods and the lakes, Llorona,
Looking for a white gown of a woman weeping,
To give my will freely to your salvation, Llorona,
Hold me in your arms as I pass into thee, Llorona, Llorona,

If your wailing needs life to be taken, Llorona,
Let another child live with joy and meaning,
Take my wasted soul without falter, Llorona,
Let us go into the void of salvation, Llorona, Llorona.
Just inspired by the folklore of La Llorona

My Beautiful You
M Srisaravana Apr 2020
In the evening wind, I walked the beach
I see them glittering sand, shined
A bright red sky, like a velvet rope, weaved
your heartbeat synced with the waves unpinned
A marvelous scene collapsed like a sandcastle
For, I have seen all, again and again like a wheel
Only that your smile, so fresh and warm
Your eyes sparkled like the evening star
Your face, like an ever-glowing full white moon
My memory of you, the ever-changing variable
A constant in the drift of my decaying mind

My dear friend, where was I,
When the necessity came and ablaze,
Where did I hide myself out,
Everyone's asked where was the God,
Was I in the fields of meadow,
Sunshine without a shroud of clouds,
Or was I in the dark alley, covered,
Where I was ripped in infernal flames,
It is easy for you to judge,
When nothing could be at stake,
Why could not I listen to you,
Will stay a mystery awake,
At when you stop judging thee,
A value arise within thou,
Only so much I could tell, but,
You will have to cross the well,
At last, to meet me at the end.

Requital of Sorts
M Srisaravana Mar 2020
To the night, to the dreams,
When I meet my maker’s gleam,
I would ask just one more thing,
For all these years, you spared me thus,
What of my purpose you had me filled,
When my time’s done, springs’ gone,
What of the glorious feats,
You had me achieved for this life spend,
Marvelous Design of your countless thoughts,
How could I be left without a caught,
If it is as complex as you made me believe,
Let there better be a requital of sorts, for,
Your countless flaws of my celestial deeds.

Wishful Curse
M Srisaravana Dec 2019
Once I met a man of passionate taste,
He shared a story of his willful fate,
He prayed so long for a rightful wish,
When the Gods showed up, he asked to lift,
The burden of earthly bounds broken fit,
The Gods granted the seeker's gift,
Little did he know of the cursed pit, of that,
He ever loved, vanished from the grip,
Nothing that he ever sought, ever lived,
He roamed the lands evermore untainted,
Till he met me on the same path spiraled,
He shared his story of grievous fate,
Even the Gods he sought are no more,
To reverse the wishful seeker's stake.

Your heartbeat, I hear aloud,
Our story of love echoes,
Through time's time,

By your thoughts within,
And get destroyed,
When it departs without.

Storm's End
M Srisaravana Dec 2019
Let me sit down for a while,
For the night is still too young,
I can hear the storm's thunder,
Raging past behind my eyes,

My heart's bleeding, no strength left,
Could there be a place,
I could rest till the storm's end,
Forgive me for the fall,
For, I could not catch you,

Bless me for the faith,
I have upon your spirit,
I am crumbled like a sandcastle,
In the rain, in the storm's rage,

What could I do with,
Such reckless hate in my heart
No more flowers are blooming,
In my gateless gardens, none,
My heart's bleeding, no strength left,

Let me sit down for a while,
For the night is still too young,
I can hear the storm's thunder,
Raging past behind my eyes

Dream of Ours
M Srisaravana Dec 2019
I dreamed and dream of a world,
Where meadows are singing me a song…
Lay under the tree full of blossoms,
And I could taste all the sweet lemon drops,
While butterfly wings are coloring my sky-high…
Deers are dancing pass behind me,
As a tulip just grows out of the sand and dirt…
Razor-thin grasses like strings of a violin,
Playing the music of my life…
As I am on the lap of my mother…
So much small as I am a stillborn baby,
Void of the womb is filled…
With the glittering lights of sun and stars,
For day and night… there is no difference.
It is a dream, that I could dream of,
All in me for all is mine to dream.
Come, join me, for my dream can be ours,
You can too lay, for the song is too great…
Not to worry, at last, the breeze will come,
To wake us up all, for the dream is so good,
Good, it was, that dream of mine.

Towards the ramming moon,
Here I come with the full force,
Nothing lies in the path, that dares,
For, I am inevitable to those who care,
Too far in solitude, I have gone,
Here I come as a man newborn,
Life and death are my two little wings,
I fly upon your fates all your lives,
Darkness may befriend us all, but,
Remember the kindle within is our hope,
For, here I come with the full force,
Let us go beyond the sky above.

M Srisaravana Dec 2019
The dead don't play the game,
As one should hope they would,
The life all along must suffer,
As a consequence of that matter,
Towards the shining Sun,
The burning candle has no power,
As for the end, life surrenders,
To the will of the dead gathered.

I, Mara
M Srisaravana Nov 2019
O' My lord of infinite layers,
You are the house upon I am built,
The self, that is I, is the echo of your's,
No more I can be, losing myself at ends,
I search for the path, enlightenment hails,
It is the line between all the extremes,
You, O' my lord Mara, the self-ego of me,
Dragging me to the extremes of my mind,
No more, no more, the land is my witness,
You are the illusion of my witted mind,
Let myself go of the idea of I, at last,
Let whatever is left, be at peace, at once.

Illuminated Path
M Srisaravana Nov 2019
All in the darkness,
Just a small speck of light,
So long and far,
It had haunted the traveler,
Nothing to see, nor nothing to feel,
What can you do,
With a speck of light?

For some who had seen it,
Called it the God, and some,
Who chased it like a fine wild goose,
Yet, none had ever bothered to touch,
But, those who wanted that are,
Gone beyond the edge, for,
Their path got illuminated already.

Fall
M Srisaravana Nov 2019
I am standing on the edge,
Nowhere else to turn,
If I fall, will you catch me along,
There's a storm raging in me,
Without a place to hide, plain,
It will destroy me, it will **** me,
I will fail where my destiny ends,
There is no point of breaking it,
As the light goes out at the sunset,
I have seen it all blindfolded,
There's one thing I must do,
There's a butterfly in the cage,
Before the storm hits me,
I must risk everything I could,
The cage must be broken,
So could the butterfly frees away,
Then the storm can catch me all,
Everything's gone in that instance,
My smiles, my face, and existence,
The sandstorm will wipe it from the land,
There's no more self to suffer,
I will take refuge in the fall, but,
How do I know, how do I will,
From my downfall spiral,
Would you catch me at all?

There once was love and life,
Deeply bounded in you,
What could I do without both,
There is no wind, there is no air,
I could not breathe without you,

For all that, there's always an end,
But your love never saw such mend,
In your eyes, In your voice,
I could only see a blooming trend,

There was lore, there was a prophecy,
You were an angel from the sky,
I was just a kid, who looked upon above,
Saw such a wonderful delight,

There one was love and life,
Deeply bounded in you,
I could not see any day or night,
That's revolving around me,
For, I am blinded by your love.

Erebus & Terror
M Srisaravana Nov 2019
Waves are crashing against the mountain’s feet,
As the sun fades deep in the horizon’s plate,
The time is plunging into the darkness’ right,
Clouds and sky are black all alike,
Eternal spots of starry heaven are all alight.

Do not fear for the darkness all around,
Rage, rage into the night without abound,
Edge of the night shall fall again,
Far, far away, in the horizon’s end,
Anew sun shall rise again.

All that is covered in the shadow and mist,
Grey spanned meadow and land ahead,
Withered are all, ice that covers the past,
Thousand bodies and souls buried in the land,
Red is the snow now, reminds us of that.

Moving ahead, far beyond one’s limit,
So much death, so much pain,
All that endured here was in silence,
When your opponent is nature’s might,
What can you do for such reckless hate?

One by one, the count was lost,
There was no hope for the sun’s rebound,
When you tell the story of us,
Remind them of the cruelty suffered,
Not that of nature, but of the mind of men.
I wrote half of this long ago, but recently I came to know about the fate of HMS Erebus and HMS Terror, whose last voyage known as Franklin’s lost expedition ended in peril with all hands lost. That story reminds me of the part and let me continue to finish it.

For the time may never turn it back,
Do not let the dream to slide,
For you may end in the land of the dead,
Do not let the life divide,

Do not seek the truth so hard,
For it may hit you stronger than rock,
Do not cry for help so bad,
For the devil may come to save you all.

End of Eternity
M Srisaravana Nov 2019
Golden colored morning,
Gleaning grasses so green,
So much sharp those blades of grass,
Filled those fields so high,
Birds are playing flutes with fun,
Harmony mixed in the air,
Cherries have blossomed in the scene,
Now they are all looking pink,

Walking through them like,
Paradise born and bred,
But for how long those green had stayed,
It was just a dream, always a stream,
Nonetheless, a beautiful dream it was,
But where is the field now,
With all those greenish blades,
Glittering rays of the sun,
A blueish span of the ocean,

Had it shone through eternity,
Now it all seems like a broken seed,
No more dreams with colorful grasses,
No more glittering sun,
Birds with fun are all but gone,
Pinkish blossoms dried,
I can close my eyes once again,
But all are black and void,
I have lost the touch of thee,
For this might be the end of eternity.

Whispered Lights
M Srisaravana Nov 2019
In a warm and clear summer night,
Nothing hides me from your light,
You are a full moon in a clear sky,
Let me whisper like a little firefly,

One could break a man's heart,
Into a thousand pieces apart, but,
Moon’s light that could melt them one,
I have seen both of them in your eyes,

Like a wine-colored sky of an evening May,
My heart may bleed and crumble and die, but,
The moon may come in summer’s night sky,
To fetch me to your realm of light,

Let me sleep like a newborn baby,
In the land of your light,
While you whisper in my dreams,
With thousand delights.

Glimpse of Life
M Srisaravana Nov 2019
Life is given and forgotten,
So much sacrifice, for,
None are remembered,
Fall apart are the days so long,
One has seen too much to know,
Come and gone are the glory of life,
Days have marched in the haste,

I am still sitting on this bench,
Calm and pale as the light could be,
Delightful sunset is about to run, and,
The light that left will go at once, but,
It reminds me of the beautiful one,
Glorious, splendid and breathtaking one,

Gone or forgotten, it doesn’t care,
A life that exists for the sake of its own,
At last, I glimpsed the truth so tight,
That sunset was worth the blissful while,
I am so glad I sat on the bench,
Feast my eyes on the beauty un-wrenched,
My life is given and is forgotten so much,
For none is the regret that I shall bear.

Love Story
M Srisaravana Nov 2019
Standing on the shore,
As I look upon the waves,
I thought they share a tale,
Of love and life of infinite scale,

Those waves would come,
To kiss and hug the land, but,
The time that divides them,
Like a merciless wit,

One could hope, they may halt,
Here I am, witnessing else,
Eternity lost, yet the waves,
Keep trying again and again,

It is the wind, that breeze,
Reminds me of their love,
Like a guardian of eonian truth,
I smile as I look upon the sky.
M Srisaravana Oct 2019
The day is bright,
The sun shines above all,
The bird that hunts, a vulture,
Awaits the prey, a child, a girl,
For what it is worth,
The message was of past,

But present and future,
Those haunt us without a limit,
Even the brightest of the day,
Is turning into the direful grey,
Anger, pain and wounded moral,
All that cannot quench,
For the thirst for power, gold,
Are evermore higher than love,

But you, my one,
Just a vagrant of the worlds,
Witnessed the darkness,
Out of the glowing day,
Like the char dust coal,
That had burned down deep,
Your soul had stained too hard,

You shall never be the same,
Again in a way, for,
A lot of them are gone,
Only the scream that is left,
That keeps ringing in the head,
Make you wish that you were dead,

But, O’ my son, the beloved one,
Death is not the end, for,
The absolution of the darkness,
Make the curse lasts more,
As long as the human reigns,

Remember, at last, one more thing,
Nature's promise is not binding,
What we are, truly,
An extinct leaf in a wind so hard,
Dance as we do in a fateful course,
Nobody knows the state we would stay,
What we could do in a fearful day,
Amass our guts in a hopeful way.
In memoriam of Kevin Carter, who took the celebrated photo of the “Starving Child and Vulture” and took his life next year (1994), in his final note he wrote, “I am haunted by the vivid memories of killings & corpses & anger & pain.”

Eternal Sunshine
M Srisaravana Oct 2019
There I lived my life, no one knew,
None cared for that matter, life’s spent,
The flowers that bloom and shine,
Depart when no one shrines,
Like the empty halls of fruitless kings,
There lies a lifeless motion, defect,
I’ve been forsaken by the memories,
Of the loved ones’ no more,
A lone tree in the spotless field,
Rise and fall as if clock work’s will,
I long for a place, a void of emotions,
All good and bad seize to exist,
Even my creator, the God, forbidden,
A sight, I could rest forever still,
***** at my feet, meadow beneath,
Eternal sunshine of my spotless mind,
All that is, within my dream, but,
When can it become a visionary gleam?
The phrase, "eternal sunshine of the spotless mind" is from Alexander Pope's work. I thought of that for some time and inspired me to write one for myself.

A Leap of Faith
M Srisaravana Oct 2019
There is rage, rage inside,
Dividing me in between,
The path is not so illuminated, but,
Fear shall not my dear boy, for,
The night reminds us of the coming,
A day full of light kindled,
Hope there is, yet to be bound,
But there is none, who,
Could break the ticks of time,
Come, come with me at once,
For the fear shall not enslave us,
Run, run towards it without terror,
Thousandfold reflections you may see,
Like on the mirror of destiny,
Who will know what of it becomes,
If you didn't take the leap of faith?

A Dream
M Srisaravana Oct 2019
Once upon a time, there was a field,
Filled with grasses so green and clean,
Air so light and wind so breeze,
All of them were in celestial light.

By all means, it was too good to be true,
But once upon a time, they were true,
Fate and fear may mold the scene,
But all the glory has gone by the screen.

I wish the day shall pass by again,
For then I could feel the light rain,
Washing off those pale green field,
Doves could sing the song for thee.

This all happened as I closed my eyes,
Where is the field that I wanted to see,
All those silvers were once been green,
Gone are the days, never to be seen.

— The End —
