It feels strange
will -- forward is real
meadows, glance
a time understood.
poetic lines
Katherine Brooks Oct 2017
A series of parallels
are the most forecasting
if they can cast a spell
through the mind, everlasting.
Katherine Brooks Jan 2019
I want to be moved
Day to day
To revel
To  weep
Even in strangers conceit

But why can’t the thing that moves me just be my own two feet?
Katherine Brooks Sep 2017
I stay awake to make
up a life in my mind
to unravel time
taking steps to climb
clearer it becomes
some thing worth love

all unseen until showed
don't go there
keep your tone
my life, yours
what a fight

i dont understand this late at night
Katherine Brooks Sep 2017
That day, they brought me to a place for crack addicts and nut jobs and I wished I didn't belong there. However, this is where life brought me — to a silver lining of a place. I feel like screaming, but no sound comes out. I was a mystery and still am. The living hell of a memory that plays on a broken cassette.

Writing to time lost and to time regaining.
Katherine Brooks Jan 2016
There are discourses in life
That cause strife
Small bumps
That cause rumpus
Small healings
That cause feeling
Bows of depreciation
That cause apprehension

Discourses of the heart
Discourses of the mind
Discourses of the soul

Things that need to be told
Katherine Brooks Oct 2017
I feel vague
This space between
cracks and breaks
The future rules my present
state, living for the day
Overshadows – the great wait
My heart in being, truly living
It all feels a billion light years away
Katherine Brooks Dec 2015
Spent with family and friends
A time to rest and mend
The old and the new
A time for me and you

We laugh at the memories left behind
And grow towards a brighter goal
To rebuild what someone stole
A day of remembrance and soul
Katherine Brooks Sep 2017
Feelin' the morning breeze
Fall's coming says the wind
Smoke's been paying the lease
as the coffee bean aroma spins

With a cigarette in hand
Friday ideal fills the land
We search for our true friend
as the bustle of the day begins
Katherine Brooks Sep 2017
Go on one by one
The search for purpose
Can be hard, oh lord
It feels like a curse
Sometimes.

But then, we feel lighter
The worry, stress
Goes away and it's brighter
All of it gets less
Sometimes.
Dedicated to my Brother.
Katherine Brooks Mar 2016
In this room
There is no you
Just me
And my thoughts
Thoughts of spite
Thoughts of night
Thoughts that linger
Thoughts to mingle
Thoughts of me and you
Katherine Brooks Aug 2020
The woven way a story is told
A calm before the storm
Or a bright light on a Warm walk, little is known to rush forlorn
Evening breaks the width of a stick

But a flow of a shirt or hem or line
Brings forth the underwing of a blossoms site, more than what the iris can hold

But little to what the eye can see
Nuisance in delight and for longing in the pattern of the way it falls or rests in the same instance as the other
Never too floral or too faint

But in the right substance more than you know
Ever bending just in time to show what you care for and what you don’t fully see

Whatever is most felt by the hand or the cheek and less than what a mind can read
For the feeling of it is what matters
, to the moss on the ground
Katherine Brooks Dec 2019
You told me a lie
that I used to live by
now I know the truth
and there's no rock to steady
me, in my trembling boots

I do not know my mother
I do not know my father
how do I find the strength
to stop my shaking breath

Do I live a lie
or be a sacrifice?
I haven't confronted my family since I found out I was adopted. They never told me. And they don't know I know. I'm finding it hard to keep a clear mind.
Katherine Brooks Sep 2017
We stay
And pray
Lifting our souls
Filling out holes

The ties
The lies
They come and go
As our lives grow

We're looking for those
To stay close
To not leave us behind
But to keep and be kind

My family is different
Confusing and diverse
Not at all absent
Something of the universe
Katherine Brooks Dec 2015
they rush and flow
and come from below
they come from above
a glistening of love
they make you believe in light
sparks when it's bright
they help and they hurt
and make you decide your worth
its like fire and ice
naughty and nice
a poison of hate
when its too late
an act of kindness
when you're blinded
never not feel the feels
when you don't is when it becomes unreal
Katherine Brooks Oct 2019
What do the inklings mean?

The small whispers:
That stay in the air,
Move with the breeze.

Where do they come from?
What do they mean?

I fell, we see, I'm for you.
What do they mean?

The small inklings...
I go to this support group, I think it helps. It shows me that there are others who  think the same way I do and that have the same thought processes. Don't feel so  alone.

Little lost things
in a sea of hope
staying for scalings
of the modern write

Under the tables
and in between the light
a house is in comfort
for tomorrow's light

Crisp summer dusk
with names unturned
living in dust
for life's return
'Love lost but hope sprung'
Katherine Brooks Oct 2019
Maybe today will be better
maybe, those don't define your every move, you believed.

You wake in the hours before light
remembering a ghost
from a dream.

You wake up in spite
beside kryptonite
"nothing is as it seems".
Katherine Brooks Oct 2017
This is the last time I call it bliss,
releasing demons in each breath.
The last time I drag you to my lips,
reckoning the bitter kiss of death.
Katherine Brooks Sep 2017
We sat in a circle of thrones
our madness becoming known
We talked of a life we wanted
but were only left with a being haunted
Katherine Brooks Jan 2017
In all due time
Reminders of mine

Healing is meek
Wait and seek

Love an enigma
Nothing of stigma

All in all
Let it be null
Katherine Brooks Sep 2017
He shines
like ruby's and wine
something divine

twisting my soul
rattling my bones
you hurt

but that's life.
Katherine Brooks Jul 2019
In now we seek
a loving sound
to breathe in
the louder crowd

Careful step
worthy hound
universal love
for gone, is too proud

A small bundle
do not prowl
for you shall mark
a beautiful scowl

In madness seems
a cruel tone
so we say
you're sweet and cold

The sourness hasn't set in
I hope it never does
Wanna keep it light
for the summer isn't old

Sight for the reel
Numbers for the time
Letters for our hero's
and life for the time

Happiness lasts in bursts of motif
Feelings stay in the month of May
June starts the love of a journey
Muse is right to the loud quietness of the season
It's hot and humid
Katherine Brooks Feb 2016
When we all see
the stars will be
speaking of a place
a universe of space
one where anything can happen

When our lives derange
it all feels strange
no one knows where to go
or who to be when they're low
but that is when anything can happen

Ink
permanent and resilient
a duty to eternity
forever and together
art made in harmony
you must be patient
you must be brave
for this tattoo stays with age

beneath the sheets
where we don't speak
we feel, the burn of desire
and everything dire
trying to get close enough
to taste that bit of love
wrapped up in each other
being sweet lovers
Katherine Brooks Jun 2020
You seem to fly
in the Atmosphère

Colors in the sky
sound simple and plain

but the very happening
of being lifted

gives us hope.
Haiku difference
Katherine Brooks Sep 2016
silent, still
deep yet shallow
what secrets
what desires
sit off your shore
Katherine Brooks Aug 2020
Missed the long time
Felt the wind blow

  Living and saddle campgrounds
Different from the rest

                       for casting right ..

A lake simple enough for my heart.
Katherine Brooks Jun 2020
scarf for the winter
sweater for the fall

a sock on the ground
two shirts over shorts

and a towel for the morn'
simple daze
Katherine Brooks Oct 2017
Let's do tests
On Frankensteins body
& be fearless
Let's cut up body's
Like Jennifer did
Let's make it scary
For all the kids
Halloween's around the corner
Like that horror show man
It's time to warn her
About the monsters under her bed
Katherine Brooks Jan 2019
So serene, in lying wake.

So close, to the end of days.

Another year, meant to weather.

Thank you my bouquet friend, my reforming lover.

Katherine Brooks Sep 2016
sometimes it shines
sometimes it wanders
sometimes it's mine
sometimes it's wonder
inner, outer
higher power
lanterns, candles, campfire
all different
yet all the same
the bright light and a flame
something more
something grand
something bigger than all the land
childhood memories
to adult humor
light is dark's only rebuter
some will say
not to lose
being able to wear any size shoe
because then
you will find
you will never lose your shine
Katherine Brooks Dec 2019
Can I be like you
a warm smile with a true glance
like the summer moon
Can I be like you
Katherine Brooks Jun 2020
hope grows flowers
like summer grows feelings
family gatherings
laughful meanings

here unto most.
remembrance lies in the evening
Katherine Brooks Sep 2017
You found me
waking up from a dream
I found you
in this reality

See you didn't just come into my life
At a place where I wasn't ready
You didn't catch me off balance
We found each other and we keep it steady
You say to me
Life's too short to question those beside you
And I thank you
For teaching me how to live too

You found me
searching for life
I found you
looking into my eyes
Katherine Brooks Dec 2015
love is a mysterious act
it's the good and the bad
and all it attracts
it can be power or pressure
or our worst confessors
we dream of a place
a place that is real
a place with some space
a place you can feel
love is a delirious act
Katherine Brooks Feb 2017
More than just romance
It's a chance
To change and rearrange
To enfold and behold
A thing so precious
Our hearts implode
Round and around we go
Till our ghosts grow cold
Katherine Brooks Oct 2019
I stand and wait for you
Patient as always.

But more desire
This essence, my friend.

I will stay true, even if it's not to you.
doubt, how long is too long; can we make it, a valid question
Katherine Brooks Sep 2016
to change
to rearrange
a life gone askew

to make
to create
a life renewed

drop some
gain some
a hard choice to choose

you and me together
can break the chains for good
Katherine Brooks Dec 2019
I go to some meetings
they are meant to help

but all I feel like is a scope
of a presence coming through

a following of all the lives
that people live to them selves

coming out in the open
weighing down everyone's own individual loan
NAMi, suicide awareness
Katherine Brooks Dec 2015
was like morning dew
young and fresh
like I've never met
loving you was sweeter
like candy canes
in the winter
haven't I felt enough
why do you call my bluff
Katherine Brooks Oct 2017
You sit by the screen
Waiting for life's demean
I come to stay
To show you a way
As the hours go by
I hope to keep you by my side
You don't look to the past
Just hold fast
These beautiful days
So mother you can still say
All the things we need to hear
Katherine Brooks Aug 2020
I see them topped off
Around the ring
A group of them
Just sitting in

The magic of the mushroom thing.
mushroom rings.
Katherine Brooks Sep 2017
not the lion
a heart
a companion
a friend

my lovely little girl

she tends to be a free spirit
but i don't mind, chasing her places
she helps every space
feel like new lace

a lovely little disaster

a happy little thing
from the beginning
seen a lot
but always found her spot

her lovely little home

crazy to think
we might have never met
you turned my world upside down
my best bet

my lovely little friend

Nala
Katherine Brooks Jun 2020
We weren't born from
an estranged time
we were born with
our hearts and our pride
we do not stuff out flames
but rise for protection
we were not mind washed
in school but taught to listen
we do not use for our
own understanding but for humane

We are more than lines
and borders or boundaries, connected
we are united as a cause
to stay together in peace
we are Georgia
we are hope
we are home.
Katherine Brooks Aug 2020
it looks as though a new home will be home
as a dandelion changes so does the seasons

leaving my families abode
may have the real reason

to stay in a place that is welcome.
Home searching poetry.
Katherine Brooks Jan 2019
We sang
And laughed
And drank the wine

Without knowing tomorrow’s lines...

another chapter begins
a new one, being friends
three in a row
three for a blow
nice to meet you
you're so new
what's your wish
to feel bliss?
god I hope this is the start of love
because it's like you came from above
to help and save
not being naive
you're so cool, you're so sweet
I'm so glad that we did meet
