At times like these step back
Ease into it with mind relaxed
We can only persist
Try to see your former self
Contest the things we could have done
Externalise internal thoughts
To talk alone
Old or young
Discuss the paths which were pursued
You and me are one and yet we've had so much fun
Today's the day as yesterday
Is gone

You promised to have and to hold
You lied, you took and you stole
Left five kids to go be a sinner
I hope you eat those words daily
For breakfast, lunch and dinner
To the supposed man my mother married. I won’t call him step dad.

Sometimes need loving
Step outside your comfort zone
Some fresh air and breathe
Love doesn't always come to your doorstep
Sometimes you must go find it
Step out of time
Step into moments
Slow down the steps
Be in the now

Step into time
Step out of dreaming
Speed up the steps
Be in the journey

Step beyond time
Step into narrative
Pause in the step
Be in the chronicle

One step at a time
You know it's like you read my mind
And I'm afraid in a lot of ways
But not in ways that I can say
But something greater still
Your never-ceasing, constant will
It's a fight, but not a struggle
No need to worry when you've already done it
Brought fulfillment
The living story you have written
You make a promise and you keep it
I make mistakes and you say to leave it
If I don't have it I don't need it
You're molding me how you see fit,
Showing me how everything in this world is somehow sacred
and how the rocks are crying "Praise Him!,"
To separate emotion from the plan you have in motion
And that my fears aren't necessarily need for caution.
I think about it often.
I pray to God I haven't lost him
That there's more purpose than I thought back then
You're so full of surprises.
So I'll take it one step at a time then.

When I feel like quitting
I tell myself, "Take just one more step."
Then I do it.

And then again
When I feel like quitting
I tell myself, "And then take another
"Just one more step."
Then I do it again.

And again when I feel like quitting
I say, "Self, take another,
"Just one more step."
Then I do it again and again.

I keep talking to myself
And I keep going
Again and again and again.

Until there is just one more step to take
And then I say,
"Self you can do it. Take Just one more step!"
As I step into my, "I did it!"

I celebrate and celebrate
All the while
My mind is thinking
"Self, What is  next? Let's do it again!"
One challenge after another. Keep learning, keep growing, See the lesson. = increased wisdom.
