I'm so tired of this endless
                                                       duel
that is tearing my soul apart
And that's how I know -
God is                                           cruel
for He gave me                              a heart
in a world full of                       eyes

I write about you nonstop
I write about you until my head is throbbing and ribbons are rolling down my cheeks
Until my heart is hammering in my chest
Until I come to my senses and worry about other things
Important things

jump-start         heart-wired
    flash-fired   back and forth
wit-lashed by my scutting state
glaring my hate at the creature
till  it at least looks away
i am both jolty and sleepy
most unwelcome behind the wheel

Slowly— and then suddenly
just to drift apart.

There once was a captive giraffe,
Who escaped from the city zoo,
But with this newly found freedom,
He wasn’t quite sure what to do.

Bustle overwhelmed his senses,
‘Till he finally found some lawn,
But the trees were scarce and fragile,
With dried leaves barely hanging on.

Flooded with options and self-doubt,
He let out some ironic laughs,
And returned back to the same zoo,
Back with all the other giraffes.

old lady passed out
wind and leaves do battle
she is plagued by shadows
is it rude to wake the sleeping
to check they're not dead ?

Keep your feet
Grounded, girl—
Stay present.

Rock in the
River, right?
Things may change.

That's okay.
The future's
Never late.
Emotional awakenings can be a jarring experience—especially when you never saw it coming.

This is written as a tricube (three stanzas, consisting of three lines each, each line consisting of three syllables)
