My eyes were bloodshot and you told me I needed more sleep
And that's when I realized that you weren't who I thought you were
Because I always thought of all the people
You would understand
That some nights are not meant for sleeping

And some nights my body doesn't fit me right and I wrestle around trying to get in my own skin again.

And some night my dreams are so vivid I can't tell what's real and what's not the next morning and it scares me.

And some nights the spaces between my ribs grow and the world becomes filled with metaphors and wonder and the air is so sweet I can barely breathe.

And some nights,
the night is all I have and I'm afraid that if I fall asleep it'll be taken from me so I hold on as tight as I can.

Some nights are very very good
Some nights are very very bad
Sleep does not belong to either of those nights
Sleep is not worthy of those precious hours of darkness when my surroundings match my emotions

I thought you would understand.

the last hiccup
slowly quiets in the sheet
and the last tear
plants it's home
in your pillow,
awaiting growth
of it's garden.

your words,
they have the power
to rattle around in my head.
but your silence,
that has far more power.
the power to rip apart my ribcage.
extract energy from my body.
force waterfalls from my eyes.
and spill worries from my mind.
i'd prefer your harsh words
over your unspoken words.
totally lame late night ((11pm)) thoughts

It's like there are stars above the horizon
And below the depths.
Double the wishes
Double the possibilities
Double the chances.
I pass over clusters of stars
Bunched up together as a family.
In this hazy atmosphere
They shine bright
As a whole
And mark the path for
Wanderers
and
Travelers.

It's my favorite time of night. We slip outside for a smoke and with each drag her face is illuminated in a fiery glow. The whole world is dark and all the light is right here. It's coming from her. Every star decided to leave the night sky to become something better. They became the sparks in her eyes. The crescent moon followed too and adjusted itself to fit in her glowing grin. Now every time she smiles at me I see the night sky.

Sometimes the hardest battles are fought alone
at night
when it's dark
and quiet.
I haven't even been typing for more than a few seconds
and already the tears are flowing.
Too strong for too long.
That's what they say, right?
Crying does not mean you're weak
it means you have been too strong for too long.
What *******.
I am weak.
I know I am.
Broken angel
hurt so many times
by those who were meant to protect.
Walls have been put up to protect myself since no one else
seemed to care enough to save
the five year old little girl.
Eleven years later and I'm cold and hard as stone.
I wish I were a stone..
Instead of this **** sponge who is destined
to be poked and prodded.
I will soak up your mess,
so you don't have to suffer.
Give me your worries, I will take them.
Give me your addictions, I will take them.
Give me your broken shards, I will take them.
I don't care if I get cut and scraped.
Let me bleed-
so you can live.
Reading through this it makes no sense.. not even to me. But maybe that's how poetry is suppose to be.

A nectar lingers in the midnight,
Empty is the forum for all thought akin
Confused, reflected, or bade to come in
Or to come out.
With loose time the moonlight was bought
Playing with the chatter I hear desiring me:
To write a love poem with all its proper irony.
A thing of gold, I fantasy it
Though blurred and warm as lighted wick
Midst the darkness tall, timbers thick
The lenses, its vital antecedents
Are cracked or compelled by the acts of man.
Yet, so good the tools, these fragments of
Ears, eyes, and nose,
They produce all the power behind poetry
And find all I need, like a handless compass
Forcing me to follow the moss
That warns two strangers must first meet their paths
Before they may cross.

The darkness is lightened
By the stars in the sky
And I am not frightened
With you by my side

You hold my hand
As we lie in the grass
We talk about our favorite bands
And things from our past

We discuss the earth, moon, and sun
And the origins of life
We wonder why people use guns
And why there is so much strife

You stare into my eyes
Moonlight twinkles in yours
For a moment we are hypnotized
Then the rain starts to pour

Both of us laugh
We leap off the ground
The sky shows its wrath
And you twirl me around

With your hands on my waist
We enjoy the refreshing shower
I can feel our hearts race
And the world feels like ours

i'm staring out the window,
fingers clutched to a cigarette.
8 minutes before sunrise,
i'm watching the sky rain.
I might be thinking about you too
