I know that I don't know except a feeling of humility O My Lord.

Birthday Poem to Myself
by Michael R. Burch

LORD, be no longer this Distant Presence,

Star-Afar, Righteous-Anonymous,
but come! Come live among us;

come dwell again,
happy child among men—

men rejoicing to have known you
in the familiar manger’s cool

sweet light scent of unburdened hay.
Teach us again to be light that way,

with a chorus of angelic songs lessoned above.
Be to us again that sweet birth of Love

in the only way men can truly understand.
Do not frown darkening down upon an unrighteous land

planning fierce Retributions we require, and deserve,
but remember the child you were; believe

in the child I was, alike to you in innocence
a little while, all sweetness, and helpless without pretense.

Let us be little children again, magical in your sight.
Grant me this boon! Is it not my birthright—

just to know you, as you truly were, and are?
Come, be my friend. Help me understand and regain Hope’s long-departed star!

A normal day changes into a nightmare,
One two three, soon the numbers rise,
Soon nothing left but to act quickly,
Constructions of makeshift hospitals with beds and critcal equipment necessary to fight the corona virus.
All hands needed at the helm
To steer through the storm of the deadly virus.
Scientists, doctors,pharmacists paramedics, nurses,carers,
volunteers, donors manufacturers to cleaners all deserve an ode and special prayers,
Claps are not enough,
Thank you's are not enough,
These people live on remote control,
To save and protect lives their first priority.
I pray to Lord to give them strength and courage to heal the infected,
To give solace to those who panic
The will to serve humanity.
The spirit to care for and support one another,
Lord,you are strength and refuge,
Guide them,
Reward them in this life,
Answer their prayers,
And if they die in the service of humanity their afterlife is in Heaven.
Amen.

Deep dark night
Helpless, state

Miserable plight
Cool and bleak

Wintry landscape
Unknown faces

Cruel blow
Strange air

Poisonous water
Stinging earth

Strange paths
Motionless movements

Voiceless calls
Senseless imagery

Weeping cries
lyrical emotions

All jerks, activities
Noises, announcements

Agreements, decisions
Every deal and done

Heartless, motionless
Helpless state

Miserable plight
Voiceless calls

All with my pangs
Only calling You

Make the all norm
With the warm sun

Illuminating rays
Eliminate darkness

The Merciful Lord

How can we walk together if we don't agree
How can we agree if you never listen to me
Everytime you go on your knees,
you're the only one that speaks
Before I say anything, you take to your heels
And there're things I could have revealed
Why have you turned prayer to a one-way street
It's meant to be a dialogue and not a voicemail
Next time you're in my presence, learn to sit still,
listen and receive instructions
That you might walk according to My will
And that you might be fulfilled.

I call you King because you are the ruler of my world
Of my devoted heart
Whirl me around
Colors are swirled
Words you twirl are works-of-art

I do not believe in lordly illusions
Just depends on how we perceive
Weave delightful delusions
Not that easy to deceive
This didn't come out like I hoped...

in the town of Jerusalem,
my home,
my warzone,
my heart's stone.

i set off from home,
with weathered sandals
and broken eyes

i sought for treasure,
not gold nor wine,
oil and water
a feast for two

and i
walked past a building.
a wind past trees,
light through holes,

and i felt a
strange sensation
in my heart.

it stood like a castle
stripped of it's
false gold.

i stopped to see,
among your disciple, was
a man with a robe
tied

around his waist
and he had
eyes with

a million oceans in them,
and had a fire within
so bright.

washing their feet.
and i wondered,

was it true, Jesus,
that you only acted humble.
or have you

hoaxed entire kingdoms into
believing your God.

divine encounters
wine skins and
calling the dead out of slumber,

and here,
you've ordered a counterfeit vine for
your branches.

the hope of you being real
was seeping into the earth,
like

depleted souls
desperately looking for its
own grave.

but i took a second,
a third look.
5 blinks and a breath,

isn't that you.

i looked again,
and i saw your arms like trees
reaching towards

empty mouths,
i saw a wine stained
robe, and

whiplashed skin,
i didn't know what it meant.

you invited yourself
stripped yourself of heaven
and lowered yourself to

wash the feet of those
who follow you.

oh, the awe.

oh, the sheer weight of

love that swept into, above and through me.

my ears starts to tear up
despite the drought inside me,
and i was filled up,
even though broken cisterns laid
bare
within me
and the world looked

just a bit brighter.
and life finally
felt like life.
and not

empty pots and
eyes that bled pain
nor is it a heart stabbed by its own
mother.

at that moment.
within this...
second.
glimpse.

bleep in eternity.
i knew you were God

and you are real.
