Lanterns in the sky
swirling its direction to sunrise.
Golden flowers glisten by
bringing a sweet surprise.

Blue, tottering oceans
turn yellow from the sun.
Making such amazing motions
entering together as one.

Rising, steep mountains
gesture below the sunrise.
Sheer, rich canyons
below the lantern skies.

You left me in the darkness without any light
Did not even turn back to see the horrific sight
I knew I should not wait for the time to fly
For here, I was only left to die
My soul awakened and my spirit glow
Finally the fright had to bow
I could hear my heart say, "Now it's your turn"
Cause, I had now, started to become my own lantern

Here shines the loyal light,
Reminding us of Boxer Manson.
Still standing guard o’er us in Doggy Heaven,
Keeping his family safe throughout the night.

Paul Butters
For Manson, the boxer dog of Tracey Seddon. Sadly he died December 2016 from cancer aged 12. This to go on a lantern in his honour.

Tell me a story, traveller,

of unwalked roads you walked alone
beneath the blue and sunlit sky,
paved with earth or cobblestone
and straying clouds that wander by.

of strange lands and stranger folks
and strange songs they sang with you,
in strange tongues they call their home,
that, in your dreams, was somewhere new.

of temporary loves you loved,
then set your broken lovers free,
and healed your broken, heartless soul
beneath the starry sky and sea.

of darkened woods and foreign sound
that haunt the night-time every night.
of moons that follow footsteps quiet
and stars that watch in silent light.

of stormy nights and thunderclouds
that failed to bring your childish fears,
and drowning rain that drowned the winds
and brought you melancholic tears.

of snowy golden sunsets high
on mountain sides, ragged and old
and tears of wonder, tears of joy,
love of stories left untold.

of rivers running swiftly by
your resting sleep ere break of day.
of twilights that blanket the sky
and sweep the orange clouds away.

of lost lanterns and memories
and aimless wandering in the night.
of faraway towns of scattered starry
homes so warm and hearts so bright.

of lone camp-fires’ dancing songs
and lonely faded quiet applause.
of longing and of selfish pain,
of losing love and loving loss.

Tell me a story, traveller,
of reminiscing in grateful shade,
and of your final travel home
before your loving memories fade.

In the shadow of a tall mountain
I pitch a tent
I lay a fire
I eat berries
I bathe in the pond
People come, people go
They say much, as do I
And once after the fortnightly storm
A hole I dig, and a seed I sow
Of a pellet of light wrested from my chest
And people come, and people go
But the sunshine never comes, for the mountain is tall
And the mountain is strong
But the sunshine I need, for the pellet to grow
And grow it must
Grow it must
Into a ball of light to walk into
That shines right through the mountain
And all around
But the mountain is tall, and the shadow is long, and the pellet has been sown
In the arc of perennial dark
People come, people go
But this time, one stayed
Without a reason too firm
And little is said
Except the voice of the lantern carried in anew
And the gentle, flickering light, flows on the seed
Like the lapping of rippling water on the pond’s shore
The pellet of light throbs softly, breathes easy
And after we pat fondly the mound of earth on the seed’s womb
We pitch a tent
We lay a fire
We eat berries
We bathe in the pond
In the shadow of a tall mountain

The blazing
flame of the
dark lantern
was shining
brightly
as it reflected
in the
Woodsman's
auburn eyes.
Lost souls
take no
pleasure in
being found.
Little pieces of
glowing embers
were swiftly
carried away
by the autumn
wind in the
melancholy air
of old memories.
Like a
starry breeze
of dying fire,
whispering into
the stalking
night,
singing its
mortal melody
to the
wayward pines.
And so he
slowly disappeared
in the moonlit fog,
more lost than
he could have
ever realised.
Deeper and deeper in
the unknown...

My ex-girlfriend used to wake up scared,
More than often it had happened.
She used to tell about her nightmares,
She was really explicit about the dreams.
Oh yes, I remember each and every thing.
I remember when she told me about one,
I often sensed her strong interest in it.
More I deduced so after it is over,
My ex-girlfriend was a nymphomaniac.

The world was big.
Big enough to swallow her whole.

She kept telling herself
To always be aware,
So she don't become
a gone elf.

Careful..
She used to roam on her tippy-toes.
Too careful,
So she don't break the thin ice.

Afraid to fall, she was.

One day,
A guy stepped into her world,
Holding a lantern in his hand,
And a smile on his face.

He said
It's okay to fall,
I'll catch you.

How, then, she wondered.

He showed something to her,
Something peculiar,
Something strange;
Something so alien to her -

A grin.
A warm grin.

I'll be your polar bear.
I'll stay under the ice, if that means saving you.

Now the world is still big.
But not too big as then,
Because they both know
what they have is bigger.

He made her smile
and made her laugh, too.

One day, she said,
*Dude, I like you.
**THE END.**

And no, it's not about two "elves"

*it's about two penguins*

lol nope ..I mean, I don't even know anymore - probably it's about two people?

Although a lantern-holding penguin might be cool yah?

okay I'll stop .
