For lack of the sun
The yellow flowers became
The light of today
Today is quite cloudy, but I saw the sun kiss the ground
lost in my mind Mar 2015
My uncle used to tell me that the clouds would
get lonely so they would come to the ground
in fog form to hang out.
But now I think that the clouds
and the ground are secret lovers,
but everyone is against them.
The sky separates them
and the humans have terrible accidents
when they get lost in it.
Humans get lost in the thickness of their love.
There is no softer breath-taking kiss
than when the fog kisses the ground.
Every word's a trap to your lies.
Every thought pushes me down,
***** me into the ground.
My shadow and soul wait,
waiting for you to let me out
from the dark stain of your perfect life.
Blood runs red,
lies run dark.
There's not one spot
that's a spark in this storm.
You put impostor thoughts in me
replacing the ones of healing.
I'm breaking out but of these chains...
but why do you keep dragging me back
into this cell of destruction?

The loud ring of the phone
brings him back to the
most important
day of his life;
his marriage

He doesn't know why
that memory was
triggered, but it's
all he can see

He longs to be back at that time
Falling, falling
The sweet tune of
"Here Comes the Bride"
plays in the back
of his mind

He sees the ground below him now
as he sees his wife walking
down the aisle
Closer & closer
Flirting with death

Near to the ground now
She's at the foot of the altar
She made it
So did he
"Till death do us part"
At first, this poem may be difficult to understand. The prompt for it was not from my own mind, but a fantastic book I have, "642 Things to Write About", which continues to inspire me. This is about a man who jumps from the 40th floor of a building, hears a phone ring while passing the 28th, and regrets his to decision to jump. It's my interpretation of what was going on in his head. I'll let you figure out the rest on your own.

Take a look at where I'm found,
I'm falling, falling to the ground.
My world turning round and round,
And I'm here, falling, down and down.

I'm falling, falling for you,
And you know about this too.
That all of this I say is true.
Falling, falling for you,
Is all I can hope to do.

As I fell, you failed to catch me.
As I fell, you let me drop.
Didn't you ever look up to see,
That I needed this to stop?

Did you ever hear me calling?
Screaming that my world is falling?
Was I going to keep you stalling
From your life down there, still crawling?
Because my pleas are so appalling,
Right by you, I'll keep on falling.

Now that I've fallen past you,
I'll keep falling for someone new.
She'll know what to do,
Instead of seeing me fall through.
The only questions to answer is who,
And will she fall for me too?

So this is where I'll be found,
Falling down, falling down.
My world spinning, round and round.
Forever falling, falling to the ground.
Sky, hear me,
Take on board my shouts,
Of rage and anger,
At your never ending greyscale,
As you effortlessly misportray my heart,
Which glows in its cage in my chest.

Sun, warm me,
On this day at least,
When it would be so fitting,
To see you smile upon the ground,
And touch the grass,
With your nurturing hands.

Clouds, release me,
From your misjudged prison,
Where I cannot help but sing out,
And dream of freedom,
Which I know will find me,
One day.

Ground, support me,
Do not cause me to fall,
For I will hit you so much harder from these heights of joy,
If you cannot keep me upright,
I will rest on your back,
And look up at an imagined blue.

An imagined blue...
Such a shame,
That on a day like this,
The world cannot manage to smile with me.

I want to be yours

Be as the ground that spreads itself to support the sky

Because when you cry, I want to be able to catch all the tears. Catch all the tears so that I could try to understand what they mean.  Be as the ground that aims to catch every drop of rain that falls from the sky when it's feeling burdened and gray. I want to be there for you just like that.

I want to be yours

Be as the ground that spreads itself to support the sky

Because I will wait for the next time that you come to me. Ready to catch you as you fall into my embrace. Hold you as the ground embraces the sunset. Doing so until you are ready to rise again. I want to hold you firmly in my arms.

Because

I want to be yours
Would you be ok? Ok if I told others I was yours?

Two places as one,
Condensation mirrors both,
Heavens upon earth .
Mist on a cloudy day both white which is ground which is air
