Tea & Cake
Elise Reid May 2014
First off, a declaration; I love you!
There’s surely no mistake.
And if you’ll be my lover, a promise;
Our lives will be filled with tea and cake.

There is nothing I wouldn't give you.
Just take it! My heart, my mind, my soul.
My money, I’ll give it. Take the credit card too!
Your happiness is my only true goal.

But more than that; I’ll give you laughter.
We will be laughing all the time.
And when I make you fantastic dinners,
Our laughs will mix with wine.

Oh, I know I can make you happy!
Let me love you, for goodness sake!
And if you’ll be my lover, my dear,
Our lives will be filled with tea and cake.

The Eiffel Tower is on my secret book.
The one that holds my memories of you.
Not the fairy-tale; the one you took
The wrenching pain is all it knew.

The book itself is pleasant to see.
But reading its contents always makes me cry.
Each time the pain becomes new to me.
My hell written down in a black dye.

The book is mine and the story is mine,
But the girl who wrote it isn’t me.
That broken girl woven into every sad line.
The one person I never thought I’d be.

To burn my secret book, many times I have thought.
Maybe the flames would strip grief of its power.
Instead it will stay a reminder of my life’s lot.
My secret pain, in my secret book with the Eiffel Tower.

Teatime
Elise Reid Apr 2014
The teapot is now full.
How long the time has been.
The aroma is so fragrant.
Thoughts and laughs are blending in.

Through the flavor of the leaves,
Hidden contents are revealed.
Though inside the painted glass,
Taste betrays against its will.
Potful after potful,
While the hours sneak away.
Struggles and life’s many woes,
With each sip no longer stay.

Though at first the tea is tasty.
Though it’s easily refilled.
It just can’t last forever.
The pouring soon is stilled.

The last cup is too bitter!
The last word is the same!
The teapot is now empty,
Till teatime comes again.

Picture perfect.
Handsome face.
Flawless smile.
All sin erased.

My addiction.
Rose colored view.
Thoughts repeated,
I just want you!

But how the mighty have fallen!
But where in my heart are you at now?
But when does your name pass my lips?
But what made affections turn foul?

And why did the roses all wilt?
And where did the fairy-tale end?
And what made me turn from your face?
And how has the mighty fallen?

To Sleep
Elise Reid Dec 2013
He wants to sleep.
But there are answers out there of which are still undreamed of.
He pushes on despite the dreams he is deprived of.
What fickle rest he gets he tries to make the most of.
He just wants to sleep.

She wants to sleep.
But there are things she simply cannot rid her mind of.
She thinks the thoughts she dares not ever think to speak of.
There are things she knows her mind cannot talk her heart out of.
She just wants to sleep..

He wants to sleep.
But his future he must now reach out and take hold of.
There are so many things he wishes he could be a part of.
But he knows it is all his life right now can consist of.
He just wants to sleep.

She wants to sleep.
But there is someone out there that she thinks the world of.
Yet someone she can't help but feel she is not deserving of.
The person she needs to be she surely must fall short of.
She just wants to sleep.

He wants to sleep.
He wants to be free of the thing he's under the thumb of.
But he works to be someone he knows he can be proud of.
Only then the burden he holds can he let go of.
Then he can finally sleep.

She wants to sleep.
But there is no rest of the wicked or for those in love.
She lies for hours thinking of the things she's impatient of.
She finally arises, her thoughts she must now write of.
Then she can finally sleep.

Closed Awareness Context
Elise Reid Apr 2014
Last night I dreamt about you for the first time.
I dreamt you knew but you still asked me.
You asked me what is really your place in my heart.
I told you not to ask me what you didn't want to know.
Even though I knew you knew.
Even though  I know you know.
It is strictly closed awareness context.
And it doesn't matter anyhow.
Elise Reid May 2014
I love you my dear!
This much is true.
And every time I’m lonely,
I think of you.

I need you not, no,
When my suitors all surround me.
But, when alas they disappear,
I love you oh so madly!

My lover’s skin is soft and warm.
His kiss all I could desire.
But when he’s gone, your pasty skin,
My heart it sets on fire.

Dawn to dusk; from here to there.
Too busy to be lonely.
But at days end, distractions gone,
My heart cries for you solely

No, first pick you are not.
And so in my heart, your love can never please me.
But, this I know to be ever true,
I love you! I love you! When I am lonely.
This is a humorous poem that was inspired by the song "Love the One You're With." It is about a young women who is deeply in love, when it's convenient.

Billie Jean is not my lover.
My dear neither are you.
I can't get over The Way You Make Me Feel.
There is nothing I can do.

If only things were Black or White,
I might not be confused.
I Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'.
Boy you're giving my the blues.

Can't you see I'm a Pretty Young Thing?
Just Give In to Me.
Surely you see I'm a Supafly Sister.
Why You Wanna Trip On Me?

Maybe it's just my Human Nature.
Maybe I'm just Too Young.
Everybody's Somebody's Fool.
Just hope I'm not your one.

I just want you to Hold My Hand,
But I guess it's Much Too Soon.
It's just that you give me Butterflies.
Now I want to Rock With You.

You might think that it's Dangerous,
So you might want to be Just Good Friends.
But I think we should Come Together.
I'd be the best Girlfriend!
A tribute to Michael Jackson and love.

Faded Away
Elise Reid Dec 2013
She’s gone now.
Just faded away.
Like when dark night,
Turns into bright day.

She left then.
Because she wasn’t loved.
Replaced. Rejected.
She flew off like a dove.

Call her now.
And this you will find
She left long ago.
They couldn‘t share the same mind.

One had to leave.
One had to stay.
One took over.
One faded away.

Her yang to her ying.
Her ying to her yang.
They were so different.
And yet just the same.

Call her now.
And this you will know.
She left long ago.
They couldn’t share the same soul.

Divided and together.
One now lost forever.
Unable to cope.
Unable to accept her.

She cut her glory.
And ended her story.
Began her new reign,
of love and of fury.

Call her now.
And you‘ll find from the start.
She left long ago.
They couldn’t share the same heart

One’s hate of love.
One’s love of hate.
One afraid to go.
One afraid to wait.

One had to leave.
One had to stay.
One took over.
One faded away.

Call her now.
And this you will find
She left long ago.
They couldn‘t share the same mind.

Like when dark night
Turns into bright day.
She’s gone now.
Just faded away.

Comforting words to be said,
I need you badly to be here.
As always you're nowhere near.
Now there's no place to lay my head.
