Whenever it feels like
I'm surrounded by four walls of stress,
In your Dear arms, I find fortress
I feel snug, enwrapped in Your Word

Each and every line gives me comfort
I feel that my strength is renewed
And I'm pumped with grace to face
Anything and prevail outstandingly

Your Word never cease to ease me
That's why I call Your Word my renewer
A light that gives no room to darkness
My companion that can never be replaced.

Thoughts are attention seekers
YOU are the chooser!

Faith came to me in the night
Told me about a journey for the next day
In the early morning we hit the road
He replaced one of my eyes with his

Then he put work in my hands
And he went way ahead of me
He told me "your eye could see things
That would get you scared
Close your eye and see with mine"

The journey wasn't as easy as I thought
So many times I got stuck
Then, I would see with his eye
And suddenly a way would pave
Oh, I wouldn't forget the "Doubts" cave!

Sometimes, he would come back to pull me out
He was the help I couldn't do without
To cut the long story short
After the countless hills and valleys
We made it back home with all the work fully done

From then, I learnt to walk by Faith!

Then God looked over all He had made,
and He saw that it was very good!

Then I looked at all the poetry I created
and I saw they are all beautiful!

If the love of money is the root of all evil
Greed (covetousness) is its stem
Heartlessness would be its branches
Immorality, its leaves
Destruction and misery, the fruits
The tree of condemnation, stay off!

Recently saw a documentary
Of neighbourhoods beyond words

Gangbanging
Bullets flying
People falling
Blood spilling
Families mourning

Drugs circulating
Kids dealing
Cops bursting
Addicts overdosing
People dying

People getting robbed
People getting *****
Mass incarceration
Families with no fathers
Drug dealers are kids role models

Lack of education
Lack of opportunities
Lack of amenities
Crime is almost a norm
They definitely need intervention

Is this what it means to be broken...
You wanna let it all out in a cry
But your well of tears is dry
You just wanna be by yourself
But you are scared of yourself
Emotions are like...
Angry
Sadly
Cranky
Grouchy
Weakly
Sickly
Bitterly
If you look on the bright side of life
Emotions could flip to...
                                              Calmly
           ­                                   Happily
                      ­                        Cheerfully
                              ­                Vibrantly
                                       ­       Strenghty

See the best in the worst things!

There is something
about good food that is magical
The magnetic force of its aroma
gets your nose hooked even from afar,
gets your mind picturing its appearance
And when you have it before your eyes,
The mouth is all watered up like
soil after a heavy downpour of rain.
The teeth are warming up to squeeze
the juice out of the food
The taste buds are leaping for joy,
Ready to savour the taste
The muscles in the throat are roaring in anticipation for the food to go through like
a train going through a tunnel
The stomach is ready and eager to be filled
How magical good food is!

Richness in vocabulary doesn't equate to richness in information

Richness in possessions and money is not a prerequisite for richness in kindness and generosity

Richness in belongings and wealth is not richness in joy and happiness

Almost everything in life comes at a cost
There is a cost for doing right
Including but not limited to;
Sacrificing fun time
Getting laughed at by other folks
Boldness to be different
Trading comfort for a while

Making wrong or no decision
often comes at a cost too
There is a huge conscience fee
Having to work at the appropriate rest time
Loss of self-worth and respect
Maybe loss of fingertips (bitten off)
Suffering the pain of unfulfilment

Pay the most reasonable cost today!

It's the start of a new year
Time to embrace a new direction
A new way of viewing things
A brighter and more positive perspective

First is to let go of the past
Because the land to be occupied ahead is vast
Time to consciously make decisions
And prevent weeds from your garden

It's not time to wait for people's approval or disapproval
Time to choose the seeds to plant and cultivate
The season to self-motivate
To use positive energy to irrigate

Love is an energy that we must propagate
A required force for us to elevate
When things appear blurry
Spend more time to meditate
Look within and recalibrate

Brokenness doesn't imply uselessness
A dead leaf still nourishes the soil
and aids the growth of other plants
A broken pencil can create a masterpiece
An egg has to break for the chick to appear
You are super amazing just as you are!

In a world full of chameleons
Where camouflaging is the trend
The very true ones are Unicorns
The ones that chose to not blend in

I call social media a hub for lies
Fake it, record it and post it
Adding at least one more person
on the train of depression

This is not a call to wear your
vulnerabilities as clothes
for everyone to see
But disguise is unattractive either

The world would be a much better place
If everyone could bare their pains
Without the fear of being judged
Freedom to express one's feelings
Knowing that the next person truly cares.

Look in the mirror
And choose to love what you see
I call it self love
Not *******
But self appreciation

It's the best version of love
You owe it to yourself
It's a debt no one can pay for you
You are beautiful and amazing,
Just the way you are
Don't let voices tell you otherwise

Own yourself and be proud about it
You are the most valuable property you can ever own
Don't let voices make you their own
Love you first
And extend the love to someone else

Gone are the days
When Mother Nature was a close neighbor
And a loved one
But we've forced her out to build roads, rails, buildings and whatnot

It makes me wonder...
Like, did we dominate to contaminate?
She meant no evil, can't we reciprocate?
Further and further, we've push her away

I remember
I used to look at her from my windows
And appreciate her beauty
Now, I have to take time off
To find her and hope that she's intact

We pollute her waters,
fully aware of the negative impacts
When we can easily choose to do right
But we'll fix it later, right?

We pollute the air
And fell the trees that make us breathe
In exchange for the medium of exchange; we call it money
I think it's quite a fair exchange right?

Polluting Mother Nature is like
Poisoning your own food before eating it
Who is going to face the heat?
Of course, you and your loved ones

What's an environment without
Trees spreading their arms
Butterflies spreading their wings
Birds singing their songs
Cool breeze saying hello
We need to protect our dear friend;
Mother nature

Life is a big stage, full of happenings

Somewhere, a child is born
yet in another, a life is lost
While someone is making a fortune,
another person is losing it all
Someone somewhere is leaping for joy
while someone is wallowing in tears
Someone has way too much to eat
while someone somewhere is starving to death

Is it then fair to say that life isn't fair?

While someone is living in sound health,
another is accustomed to pain
One baby is born into riches,
yet another into misery
Someone is living in a peaceful land
Yet another's land is a war zone

It seems like life has different sides,
Different folks are seeing different views
That's why it's important to be kind,
you never know what a person is going through
Certain things are just beyond explanation
Sometimes, life feels like a mystery.

The world is always ready to judge you
Plunge you into the water, just to drown you
Drag your name through the mud and then clown you
Smile at your face but backbite you

Don't let their talks distract you
Nor allow their ill comments shackle you
They envy you and that's why they try to tackle you
Stay focused, don't let them **** your energy

The secret is to ignore them
'cause they will always remain behind you
Paying attention to them will only rob you
Do you and don't let them stop you

Don't fall for their games and gimmick
Be smart, never reveal your tactics
You are doing it right
That's why you see the critics!

I thought You up in the heavens
Heaven where you see it all
All of these eyesores
Our smooth world like the blade of a saw

Humans turned to beast with sharp claws
How about these cyber wars?
Shootings at the shopping malls?
Brutality with no remorse!

This world is in distress!
Hurricane, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions
Oh, Mother Nature has seen stress
Increasing population of the depressed

I asked Him who resides above
Can't You make us harmless as a dove
He said man has the power to make a choice
Forgive us all, pls hear my voice!

The human heart is undeniably
A very deep place
What you see appearing on the surface
Is not necessarily the same as what is hiding beneath

What you see on the surface of some is beautiful flowers
But beneath those are roaches and spiders
Or the other way around
Who really knows the true intentions of the heart?

It's established that, to err is human
to ask for forgiveness is humility
to forgive is divinity in humanity.

When you err and you say sorry
You ought to mean it, because
the true value of what you say, is
your intention
Saying what you don't mean can
also be called deception
To say it and to mean it, is to try
to not want to repeat it (the error).

Let's flip our dreams into our reality
Of course, it would require tenacity
But we cannot belittle our abilities
Mediocrity is a self-created enemy

With blood, sweat, and tears
We've enough ink to paint our destinies
If only we would look beyond our fears
And reach for our shining galaxies

Then, our dreams will be our everyday living
A single step of faith ignites more steps
In the direction of what we've envisioned
This is the time, no more procrastinating

It's high time we got the ball rolling
Mistakes are part of the growth process
The future begins from now
Dreams are for living; a verb, not a noun!

I began to pour out my heart
Throwing up all the issues
That had been corroding my mind
For quite a while

I saw his throat well up
With words of advice or consolation
I told him to hush
All I needed were listening ears
A hug right now would worth
More than a thousand words!
