A ghost under the moonlight
A fairytale in a world of reality
She passed through me and took my soul
Left me with an empty heart and wondering mind
A cloudless sky in a shining day
A starry night in a dark day
Waiting for the moonlight to fill me again.

Of the two lamps in the room,
my glassy eyes can only tolerate the dimmed glow
of the lower light from the right,
my face basking in the slowly rotating,
barely blowing air from the fan above me.
My face feels flushed,
but not from the semi-sticky early summer heat,
but from the fact that
every time I come back to this room,
I'm reminded of why I left.

The lawyer in me could generate a list,
pros longer than any construction of cons,
yet your name will always reverberate
in the unforgotten corners of my subconscious.

You never loved me like I did you,
and even my romanticized version of you never
saw me the way I
still feel the ghost of you.

I can still feel the crisp fall air from your balcony
and recall the albums and conversations that
complete the track list
of my unrequited love story.

Sometimes it was real,
sometimes it's real,
sometimes it's a dream,
sometimes it's a memory.

And this is the essence of you and me;
it's more questions than answers,
smoke and mirrors and
smoking to make things clearer.

I've never been the same
since you,
but I also don't know how I can ever
get over someone I never really had.

You were mine in microcosms
that were macro extraterrestrial galactic;

was it real?
were we real or
was it all [science] fiction?

life is short- yet still,
they don't start living until
death comes near the door
just a little blurb of thoughts

hey,
i was wondering
if you can hear me
its likely you can,
you just dont care for the drone of my voice
or maybe you cant
and i dont exist
just a speck
forever floating
hey,

youre beautiful
even if you cant hear me
even if you just dont care

what should one feel
when after so,
so,
so,
long-
they come back to see
that nothing has changed?

is it truly my intention
to find calamity
from dormancy?

or is it correct to be of deep concern
that what i have lived for
has died long,
long,
long,
ago?

does the walking corpse need say more
when it's last words have already been uttered?
or is the second chance worthless,
when it is destined to wander lifelessly forever?

what am i to be truly afraid of?
the change, or the possibility it brings?

if the standstill of my home
no longer welcomes me with delight,
then is it really home anymore?
or am i whining too much,
for it has never actually changed?

the abundance of change
terrified me.
but now that it is gone...

i am yearning for it.
and i do not know why.
so yeah being dehydrated at 1 am is pretty fun

i want to know what it's like
in those in-betweens

in between the stars
where it's impossibly quiet

in between light and dark
where the sun and moon sleep

in between me and you
where there's all the love in the world

in between my feet and the earth
where creatures might be

in between loving and hating
where there's a heart breaking

in between heaven and hell
where we live

in between the atoms of objects
what's in there?

in between is the most curious place to be,
it seems.

Seated beside you
Pulled in and held close
Talking, laughing,
What a marvelous thing indeed

What's in your head?
This, or something more?
Such is only lore...
I think

Do you wish to caress my lips?
To kiss me?
Well, dear one,
Be careful
For I am unpredictable
Not even knowing what I would do
If such were to occur

The last time
I was kissed
I froze in anxiety
Not sure what to do
Yet liking it
To such an extent
That I had no idea how to react
Ruining the moment
Hurting them...

Don't take it personally
My emotions for you are boundless
But I don't want to hurt you

Whenever I get close
Like in such manner
I fear I have no way
Of doing a thing
But freeze

Trembling
From it too
But other things fester...
Anxieties

It is hard to
Let it all go
Try to learn what to do
I'm afraid you fell for a fool

two concepts
dance around
in my mind
from time to time

the first one is
secure
small towns and
familiar faces
streets with grass
growing in the cracks
and parking lots with
the footprint of my
disintegrating shoe
pressed into fresh asphalt

streetlights that
come on to let
me know it’s time
to go home
a soft place
to call my own

the second one is
romantic
intriguing and scary
traffic and lights
and people and buildings
that fight to reach
into the clouds
an unfamiliar city
with corners and caveats
to explore for the first time

lights that never
burn out
restless crowds
to fade into
as soon as someone
learns your name

two very different thoughts
both equally
concerning in
two very different ways

complacency or
out of place?

i refuse to give
myself an answer
or maybe i’m afraid
to let myself wander

but a third question
knocks on my
skull and
lets itself in

and i can’t help
but wonder

what does
five in the morning
feel like when you
can’t see the sunrise
casting shadows
on empty fields?

does the world still
find a moment to
release its breath
before the day begins
when the city didn’t
even sleep the night before?

what if i don’t
belong here?

which outcome would
leave me least misplaced?
