winter winds shook my branches
killed my leaves, so i guess i'll leave
chilled my roots and its plain to see
the willow tree was never meant to be

Wrap your spring
in the winter.
Only to unleash it
on the rose later.

Winter,
the decaying of life

Light;
sheer and lustrous

that's how your eyes glisten on the first fall  of snow

Cold is the night as it nestled on the nook of my neck; a familiarity
though, a sun-warmed skin mended the aching cold.

You were all what is left; a hope I keep when I wonder if there is a place for us among the ruins.

Hope;
an anticipation.

You:
the gift of winter.
While Mother Earth watches herself die,
Sees her fields fade to brown
And trees bare their bones,
We sit and watch frozen tears glisten
Falling from eyes gone grey and cloudy,
Covering the dead in a sheet of white
To wait patiently for the breath of rebirth

mid-afternoon sunrays beam
against the blanketed city snow,
your miles away this December
wishing on the same falling stars.

Saturday trains murmur dusk-cascaded gleam
you're across the Atlantic shore
seasonal depression combating
last-second windswept bliss

unfinished song-writes seem
inkless on half-folded paper airplanes
for hidden chances and empty truths
lone twilight in streetlights mold
When the leaves have all run red as blood
And trees stand empty-handed
Diamond snow will blanket all
A land, by winter, branded

Dusk inside, sometimes

Sometimes out

A heart shout, above cloud thrill

Given infinite patience

Standing still, still, still

The slapping second hand wakes
to the mute, orange-dark room
of a life again crepuscular,

commutes before dawn, after dusk
and the yearn for vitamin D
become the norm

in the near distance
supermarket music tickles
glitter and tinsel

the bright idiocy of Yuletide
before the treacle dark inside

One winter night,
when it's all cold and dark
memories stirr a pain
that will again leave a mark

Silent screams that echo
words that claw at soul
heart then pumps the agony
and you start loosing control

the darkness then seeps in
and coldness that follow
morning sun then shines
on a heart that's left hollow !!

What is Silence?
By Julia Shaw

Silence is snow falling outside your door
Turning the world into seamless white
Covering up all things ugly and impure
Quietly caressing the earth through the night

Silence is a mime telling stories without words
Using only features by his face recorded
He's understood perfectly though his voice isn't heard
By all that see him he's greatly adored

Silence is a window through which one can look
Seeing wondrous things, but not hearing a sound
Silence is also realized in an interesting book
Where exciting stories can always be found

Silence is sitting and thinking thoughts alone
That no one can know really understand
But thoughts make up what your life has sown
In your silent thoughts, I hope they are grand
