I am sorry little one
I know all the cuddles and the kisses in the world can't ease your pain
Doesn't stop me from giving them though
Your baby teeth are relentless
Just like everything else in your life to come
But like that too they are just another step
And they cannot be stopped
So I'll hold you a little closer
And kiss you a little more
Soon your baby teeth will be here
And the next step of life begins
5 months old and beginning the next step in life

Aging,
Don't worry,
Be happy,
Snooze and relax in your rocking chair,
First the hair,
Getting white and receding,
It happens, it's nothing,
Nature compensates.
You tend to get fat,
Diet and lose weight,
No, she makes your teeth go rot,
So you eat less what you eagerly sought.
Decayed teeth, ugly,
What a pity,
Don't worry,
She makes your eyes go bad,
Your vision somewhat fade,
See, others can,
They call you toothless gran,
So she makes your hearing become less,
What they say you only guess,
And if you hear anything,
You soon tend to forget and remember nothing.
Life takes its course,
Make of it the most,
Don't worry,
Be happy.

Told you what I was making
You said I must be faking.
Why must we speak
With razors on our teeth.

Thought that I could be flying
You said I should stop trying
Weigh me down
With all your misery.

We never get along
Yet somehow we fit.
I tried to shake you off
You must admit.
Don’t challenge me now
I’m done with it.
If this is a game
then we should quit.

Told you that I was breaking
You said I must be faking.
Why must we speak
With razors on our teeth.

Thought that I could be dying
You said I wasn’t trying.
Let me drown
In all my misery.

Sometimes the hardest battle is with ourselves.

i know him too well —
the sweaty palms
the wobbly knees
the trembling voice

he sits with me in therapy
scowls at me, clawing his nails into my arms
growls through gritted teeth:
“quit talking about me.”
and the floor tilts underneath.

i do not flinch/shrink/cower;
i remain firm/secure/composed
because now,
my tongue is an ammunition
i am no longer afraid to exhaust.
Day #4 of Escapril, prompt: anxiety.

Violent verdant windows of shattered glass,
Sharp walls of flesh illustrate the oozing of lust.
Beneath the anguish of sillouettes and glammer,
Lie the wolf’s gazing demand for power.

Crimson crowns carry the stench of death,
Flowing deep from within the cavern of man.
The belly of this beast utters Hell’s Horizon,
A howl of sadistic victory and damnation.

Piano keys, yellow teeth

This smoke in my throat
The fire in my teeth
The wires of my bones
Slowly tugging at me

Withered webs of my eyes
Covet all that I see
The light from your skin
Meets the fall in my knees

The warmth of my breath
A glass guarantee
Tattered wind of my faith
Cast off with the sea
