The sun sets and darkness restores,
Sitting by sea shore its beauty I adore.
For the starry sky and cosmos' gold dust,
Pure and ardent love of ocean I behold.
With red wine and nebula birthing stars,
Here I sit to solace the sorrow of dying shooting stars.

You are like the sunset,
You always leave;
Comes back in the sunrise,
But now I'm setting you free.
Letting go of someone you love.

I remember last night
With a sunset sky
Pink
Lilac
Baby blues and glimmering golds
I wanted to see you today
But I couldn't
Not really
I remember last night
When we talked until the streetlights turned on
When I put little white daisies in your hair
And you smiled for me
I wanted to do that tonight
But I couldn't
Sadly
I remember last night
When we sat by the creek
And caught fireflies
Flickering in the dimming light
Like little neon stars
I wanted to do that tonight
But I couldn't
And it hurt
I just wish I could feel okay, right next to you

Driving off into the sunset often represents something being done

But I prefer to think of the situation as an opportunity for a new lesson to be learned

All the things that you have created

All the people that you’ve met

So much more than you would have dreamed of, I am willing to bet

So take all the good things with you as you make your next steps

With the knowledge that you brought so much love into this world

You simply are the best
A poem I wrote for Schitt’s Creek show creator, Dan Levy, on his last week of shooting the final season of the show.

I bet that sunsets taste
Like sherbet ice cream
On a warm summer day.

I'll take two scoops
And enjoy it right here
On my front porch.
I simply love sunsets on perfect summer nights while sitting on the front porch

The days went fast,
but the nights moved slowly,
like a sad country song
or the Alaskan summer sun -
forever trying to set,
yet never able to do so,
leaving the sky with
the color of perpetual dusk.

From the beginning till the end
I’ll watch through shattered windows
Admire your changing colours
And revel in your foreign fractured skies

I’ll watch as time takes your blues
Changes a day into a minutes worth
And steals the colours of the wind.
Watch as the night is born again.

I’ll remember your changing skies
As I fly towards your diamond stars
Forever you’ll be a distant sunrise
And a closer memory somewhere far

I ran up the hill
To see the sunset
Only to realize
I forgot my camera

So I took a picture
With my brain
And had it enlarged
For eternity in my memory.

Dear sunrises and sunsets, why must you be so different? Your beauty has a significant impact on others, as well as myself, and we are sorry for sometimes displacing your grace. The way your colours dance around the presence of the sun and the clouds, combined. Some days you don't appear in places, but we know you are always there, somewhere. Maybe at a different time. Always there. There is never a day where we are not blessed by your nature, the prepossessing sight brings joy to all. We thank you for that.
Dear sunrises and sunsets, why must we be so different?

And I still know by heart,
the way we breathed
with the sunlight scattering
off the sky,
and the way reds refracted
off your lips, darling
and off our eventual demise,
and the way i stole your first rain-kiss
and you stole it
back from mine.

And I still remember
the letters drenched
in the sea and the summer rain,
and the coffee stains
on unmade beds,
and the coastlines where
we’re yet to stay.

And I still miss the setting sun,
and the saltwater-rush
mixed with regrets
and the mornings we became the sea foams
lit by stars
and cigarettes.

But maybe it’s the sunset’s turn to love you, darling,

and it’s our turn
to set.
