Wish I were born in the stone age
Cause today is such a frightening place
Seeing everything we do,
a suspicious eye in a pyramid
And I wonder if you know,
those boats are catching squid,
shining a bright light so bright
Inspired by an amazing time lapse video
of someone traveling to Hong Kong
on a cargo ship

I will not be the hands that whisper across your skin--

the weathered kisses and cracked lips.

My caged heart is not your drum.

I will not be your stepping stone--

your weeping willow.

Perhaps and maybe 'tis true
Poetry was written on stone
many, many years before, like eons
Before an invention of a phone,
a pencil, or even a pen
Just imagine

He rains down like lightning
and he strikes your sand,
burns your beaches into hardened stone,
and blasts away your vacation,
leaving you with nothing but the memory
of rotting fruit.

Brick by brick
Stone by stone
Screaming out
Shattered tones

Fleeting life
Wanting death
****** up dirt
Shooting ****

Vacant hole
Ill spirit
Emptiness
Puking ****

Crumbling veins
Spilling red
Broken blood
Damning dead

Darkest day
Blackest night
Drowning black
Losing light

Tempting fate
Inner itch
Hearts will freeze
Blood will twitch

Bruising cracks
Inside bones
Brick by brick
Stone by stone.
I left you behind.
I had too,
the pain was crushing me.
I couldn't breath anymore.

I could see naught
but the spectrum of iron and ash.

It struck me so profoundly,
As if I had seen the impossible lines
In gods ancient hands.
A resonating slap across the soul.

I could not be you anymore.
But I left you her picture,
a beautiful, broken path
and I crawled away.

I cried everyday.
At first in every regard,
and then mostly inward.
I became as a black veil
as the cathedral I build to her
slowly melted away
in the acids of anger and pain.

Around the ruin
I dug a mote
and I filled it with sarcastic regret
and I set it ablaze with volcanic irony
the hate of how I was.

I built a Castle from my own remains,
a dread and lifeless thing.
Stone by stone,
Quarried from the shell
of what I thought love would be
Each splashed with a crimson
"never again" and set soundly
against all who would come calling.

I have lived here ever since.
Walls lined with exquisite paintings.
Markers of siege I withstood
each a beautiful face, lost but never forgotten.

Everyday I sit at a simple table
covered in the jigsaw mess of it,
a broken song I wish to sing
but I am missing so many pieces
and I left the box with you.

Every ****** night
before I go to bed
I look in the silver reflection
beset by patina and time
and I peer back at the familiar
seventeen year old boy there
who has yet to fall in love with her,
to be wrapped in the glory
of her soul
and I tell the dreams in his eyes
the very essence of him
the wayward pieces of me
I am sorry, I am so very sorry,

But I had to leave you behind.
My greatest battle I have yet to win
is the greatest love I have ever lost
and sometimes, on the most quiet of days
I am still hollow with it. Thin,
Like too much water in too little paint.
Cast the first stone
We moving the streets like we queuing for judgment,
In divided societies searching deviants
We have lost our moral compass
Our demons navigating hell
Place called Home
It rains umbers.

Corruption termed mismanagement of funds
None willing to lift a heavy stones.

I was told scorpions inhabited stones’ shadows,
So I won’t cast the first stone
But remain in judgment for their curses
I will move the street till sunset.
Judged.

On impact, he screams his empty, chilling
scream and cries as his gritty exterior
is washed away by the icy shoreline.
The water seeps in through the cracks
in his skin and burns as it touches
the many fires of hell which dance
so brightly behind the vivid
brown of his eyes. Skin so rich
it's like a painting, the deepest
greens and most intense blues
embedded within his surface. He
is molten with beauty and fear, his hands
laced with the pain of generations.
He was a man of lava and he thawed the lady
of ice, but he is being turned to stone
by the monster she became.
