It's Exam Day

I think it's time to run away

Tests here tests there

Tests everywhere!

Scarier than spiders

Created by those insiders

Teachers, dreaded villains

I think this school needs some penicillins

Tests, such a virus

So undesirous

Infecting our schools

Making the smartest of us look like fools

Vile creatures

I'd rather cheer on the bleachers

Then have to take another test

They make me so stressed

Corrupted

Our education interrupted

All so the state can judge us

It should be treasonous

How I lothe exam day

This is a good time to run away

But I can't do that

Else the system will make my life fall flat

Shiver
    Patter
Pitter

Ombre colored
         Gout
           Pressed flush to bone

Hellions march
Witch tip
        To cat tail

Rift n eager
           Expectations above meager
Grammarly says this texts sounds dissatisfying

Ouch

So upon couch I settle
Lights ground to the pestal
Twill flicker no more

So no knocks at the  door
Happy Halloween everyone be safe! (And aware Big Brother is watching)

The fire burns through darkest night of all
A slippery wisp to bring the dull to death
The wise will tread through cold to reach a breath
Men speak of souls entrapped in nights of fall
Repeat the silent pleads of sons of Gaul
Repelling beasts of night and fiends eldreth
Who poison minds with sights of heinous death
Returning husks of man with bodies mauled

The beast will weep a tear of solemn grief
Its hunger stilled but eyes on guiltless foe
A heartless master villain; killing thief
The man no more but still his life aglow
It lays his lifeless head on fallen leaf
And waits for heaven's seed to start to grow
I've never written a sonnet before and decided to write this on a whim for a dumb Halloween prompt. It came out way better than I expected.

I hope you enjoy this nightmare you created
These shadowy figures in wide brimmed hats without faces
I hope that you can survive their icy grip

Why did you have to bring us into this horror
This dark macabre of your own design
I’ll hold your hand through this but I don’t know why

I saw an owl once
It swooped down in front of my car at full speed
It flared it’s white wings and looked me in the eyes as I ran over it
I always knew it meant something because it shook me so bad

I saw an owl the night I went to see her
It flew across the road and looked back at me
It taunted me to remember his brethren that I killed
It planted itself again in my memory of remorse

I saw another owl again this morning
He didn’t even look at me this time
He just flew past me to remind me that they’re still here
Maybe they forgive me… maybe I forgive myself

the trees are reaching
clawing for you
ready to embrace
trees whisper their welcome
trees whisper your worth
they can’t wait until you’re theirs
in their clutching arms
the waiting is killing them
burning their very soul
ebbing at their patience
taking its deadly toll
you know you want to come
to this quiet place
where dreams run wild
possibilities are pondered
and tomorrow seems way off yonder
so come
they’re waiting for you

At the end, my hand
Nor my fingers trembled as
I grasped her pale neck.
I recently entered this in a Halloween haiku contest and wanted to share it with you guys :)

We talk during the day
And prowl at night
Donning our costumes
To prey on tv shows
No matter how many
Cute girls I meet
I will never forget
The ******* who raised me
To my best friends, who, despite what the years might say, I have known since the beginning.

Let's be buried in our favorite cuddle position,
you can be my little spoon.
We'll find the best spot for our decomposition
with a perfect view of the moon.

Sometimes, I am scared of the close
of this happy life with you.
But, our souls will start again I suppose
a story all anew.

They say we've got twisted minds
But there's only so much a soul can hide.
I've been in a big Halloween mood lately so here's a little poem for the haunting of the season
