Silently trailing your every step
Hollow creatures from endless pit
Abyssal phantoms gripping your feet
Disguised as illusions in your eyes
Obscured expectants for your demise
Waiting to pull you down to the deep.

While everyone is busied chasing the light
I take my strolls in darkness
Yes, I wish I was like you...
I wish I was that positive light shining
Attracting those around me like moths to the flame
A shining beacon of hope and love

But I will forever be a shadow...
Delight myself in the dead and dying
The sick and twisted and hurt and broken
I contain just enough light to lead them
A flickering candle to follow
Until you see the light at the end of the tunnel
The opening to this dark cavern
The silver lining past these dark stormy clouds

Follow that light, but I remain here
Knowing my place and my purpose
I am in limbo between the dark and the light
I am like the ferryman, the gatekeeper
I am the shadow that can sometimes be
Barely perceptible, or darker than nightmarish dreams...

Where the weight
Of the shadow
Proportionate to
The depth of the pain

And when
Less is more
Where's less?
When the light
In the soul
Resonances
The pure happiness

Let's where
Rather be

It's a ghost city
where the dread of death
stalks the dead.

A corpse gazes
into the mirror
to feign a state of the living.

A brutal past haunts
memory's grave;
Unfinished stories remain forsaken.

A desolate shadow
falls on an unceasing night;
the stillborn day mourns.

Cry of a vanished era
bares a collapsed glory;
Pride falls from grace.

River in search of a sea
imprisoned blood
on the killing spree

sea in want of rivers
cold remorseless wind
gives our wave the shivers

look how high the water rises
see how far removed the sun
so blind now to compromises

we remember songs no more
confronting one's darkness
from the farthest shore

in eclipse the river runs fallow
to light a candle
is to cast a shadow

Kiss me softly
right where my wings unfold,
hold me like your tears carry promises
deeper than the wounds
your fingernails have dug in my spine

but please, darling,
don't hand me flowers
your fingertips can't bend to the will of,
and don't you dare point at stars
your arms will never reach

because this doorway is used to seeing
your shadow go and come around
and these walls have seen you
take much and give little

your ego is used to feeding off
of this my will to stay,
a will that’s slowly eating me away

and though my lips stay craving
the lining of your body,
my heart is starving
for something real.

Somewhere beneath the shadows
Lies nothing but the hollow
A sort of sullen emptiness
I wonder why it follows
Maybe it just wants to be alive
And to dream the same as I
Maybe we could swap places
Honestly
I never really envied life

The soft crisp of heat ever glowing in the air. The fire quickly heating the vicinity with a warm embrace.

I've never had the confidence to tell you how I truly feel.
As you look deep into that bonfire and let your shadow outcast your past.

I'm going to step in your shadow and say the words "I Love You" in hope just like your shadow these feelings will follow you for the rest of your life.

Just until the day, I have the courage to tell your heart directly.....

You are the name of Love for me
You are the music of life for me
If someday I die for you
You are the Shadow of God for me

Shadows do not discriminate
They stay and change
Sometimes they go away
Hide in the darkest nights
And live in the brightest days

If I took your shadow
I could not tell
If you were black or white
Had scars
Tattoos
Or hair that was blue
Our form is more or less the same

If I saw your shadow again
I wonder
Could I tell you apart?
