Little crab in the sea
Who's swimming next to me
Who splashed me
Along the way and
With a pinch and a snap
He caught fish in his trap
Oh little crab what
A clever crustacean you are.

As tears pour out relentlessly,
a cold ember of desperation
fills my aching lungs,
desperate for a fraction of warmth
that the once lit flame provided.

The water pulls me in deeper,
scattering the pathetic remnants
of the depths of devotion,
that ache for you.

And as sunken eyes
akin to the bequeathed stars above,
call out your name through the
torments veiled by moonlit waters,

The silent sea cradles
what now are just chronicles,
of my drowning woe.
The sea now holds what was too burdensome for me.

on bare feet
treading light footprints
following the beat
of the rush
from ocean waves
to adopt seashells
as she paves
a path sideways
towards the sea
dipping her feet
letting things be
letting wind blow
her hair messy
she gives out
and finally smiles
as if there
is no tomorrow

The sun is hot
The birds all flock

The boats convene
Revelers serene

The drinks are cool
They make you drool

The wind blows soft
White sails aloft

Sleek Dolphins jump
The water thump

Our faces smile
For quite a while

This is the life
No thoughts of strife

Our own cocoon
Our sun - our moon

For just this while
We live in style

But all too soon
We're not immune

From noise and sound
Our senses pound

Reality hits back
Our peace off track

And yet we smile
For but a while

Thoughts of that day
When we might say

The sun is hot
The birds all flock

The boats convene
Revelers serene
Hope you enjoy

O' North and shining star alight,
In darkest night, you point the way
Towards your most resplendent sight.
I will not stray in storm or sea,
For heaven will be guiding me
To flee, to fight, to live another day.

My thoughts—waves in sea,
Footprints left upon the sand
are gone forever.

Your eyes
So deep and blue
Like the ocean
I long to dive into them
And explore their depths
But that's difficult
When you're afraid to drown

A tattooed man, burly and grey,
twists his hemp-fiber rope.
He thinks only of this cable’s lay,
not of wistfulness or unfulfilled hope.

His skin is bronzed and deeply creased
echoing the waves of the sea.
The grey wisps of his forearms’ thin fleece
recall thousands of mornings misty.

His thick fingers grasp like old iron anchors
as his mind glides through his tasks.
He pays no heed to the long-faded cankers
on his worn body from times long past.

Silently he furls the white canvas sails
and stows the great ropes below.
He calmly swabs with a mop and a pail
all the sea salt on the deck white as snow.

The now naked oak masts still rise to blue skies
as seagulls circle and sing their own lay.
But the sailor man hears not their cries —
He turns the capstan: Anchor aweigh.

The oaken ship now glides at slow pace,
adrift on the wide open waters.
A smile takes shape under grey beard’s lace:
He seeks the hand of Poseidon’s daughter.

He’s the last of the crew on this ship of the line.
He sails to be one with the sea.
He waits in calm as the smell of the brine
signals his new bride has welcomed his plea.

Ages hence a wreck will be found
with just one skeleton aboard.
But upon one bony finger, a round
gold band shines out like a vast hoard.
The word “lay” has multiple meanings: A song, a hiding place or lair, the tightness of a rope, an occupation, and more. The poem uses the layers of these different meanings to tell a ballad of a sailor at the end of his days. It also obliquely references maritime legends such as Jason and the Golden Fleece.

Diving deep into my memories,
Where winds whisper, and waves clash with melancholy.
Echoes of freedom, I can’t always recreate—
Yet in every storm, I anchor in faith,
Sailing toward dreams and higher conscious states,
Seeking peace and tranquility, where I calmly escape.

As the waves welcomes the moon
hues of the dusk sinks into the horizon.

I sat there, feet deep in sand
watching people escape with the tide
only to be pulled back into their prosaic life.

As i feel the sand around my feet
i wish i could embed my roots and
grow here once again as a plant,
leaving everything behind.

As the urge to swim toward
the other side gets stronger
i pull my feet up from the ground
and walk away as the street lights bloom.
