Sadness and loss
from the death of a pet rabbit
The fifth of seven poems written this morning.
Randy Johnson Jun 2015
You're looking at a man who has been blessed.
I have a dog and she's Daddy's little Princess.
My Chihuahua, Agnes is very special to me and I love her a lot.
She means more to me than anything else that I've got.
Agnes also loves me and she loves it when I stroke her dark brown fur.
I became a lucky man on the day when I adopted her.
Having Agnes for a pet is better than being wealthy, that's what I believe.
That's how I feel even though it's something that others may not perceive.

If Dog is best friend
then Cat, my sweet little love,
is my soul’s tonic
Bad pun, I realize, but hey!  It's poetic license!  ;-)

For my Bonnie cat, the first cat I had as an adult, who was:
All. About. Mommy.
My little sweetheart, and the one who convinced me that, not just a dog person, but I'm a cat person too after all.  ;-)

Oh snake master, with your deep eyes and your skillful tongue
Please uncage me and let me run my scales wildly through your hands
Hold me steadily, strongly as you tame me
Freeing me from the confines which house me
Oh snake master, your skin cool to the touch like mine
Pale white and smooth
We are different from each other, but similar
My blood runs cold while your veins pump warmly, coursing through your being
Oh snake master
Run your hands across my tiny body
Hold me firmly while you speak
Whisper softly to me as I wrap around your neck
Gripping you tightly as I become comfortable
You are not afraid
Oh snake master
Tell me your secrets
I am content here, now coiled around your arm
Your eyes glisten with hope, face handsome and young
I want to surround you, to find home within your warmth
Oh snake master
I feel your heart beating
You have me bewitched under your charm

Oh snake master
Oh snake master
Oh snake master

Your son was injured and I'm as sorry as I can be.
But you had no right to **** a dog who wasn't guilty.
Your son was attacked and nearly killed by another Doberman.
You thought that it was my dog so you shot him with your gun.
But the guilty Doberman was caught two days ago and he was euthanized.
You killed an innocent dog and because of that, you ought to be chastised.
My dog wasn't just a pet, he was also my friend.
I cried as I buried him because it was the end.
If it wasn't for your son's predicament, I'd have you put in jail.
That's the only thing that's stopping me from having you locked in a cell.
If you shoot another innocent animal, I won't be so nice.
Before you shoot another animal, you'd better think twice.
This is a fictional poem.

the calm and love
that I get
as I started
to caress, touch, hug, and cuddle you--

dear,
pet.
my love towards cats is unbearable. its something more than a human-pet chemistry. its a bless.

today my friend's best friend died
and i really empathized with her

Her best friend was
Charming
       brave
Affectionate
       smart
Lively
       gigantic
Versatile
       playful
Innocent
       silly
Noisy

And he was one of the best, someone whom she could lean on, someone who would cheer her up with a cuddle.

It hurts to lose a dog. A big, furry cream colored friend, with a big loving heart.

It's true that a dog loves you much more than himself. And you could see it in their eyes when you give them food or stroke their bellies.

This fuzzy feeling of friendship will never be forgotten.

Everything's still the same,
Nothing seems to have changed
But one...
You're gone.
And, without you,
Even though everything's still the same,
Nothing seems to be the same.

Oh no, where did Buddy go?
I think I see him over the drinking the water really slow!
As the water is empty I see him get hit.
Oh no, where did Buddy go?

I lost a friend the other day
I lost a family member that day, too
Sure, he was furry
And quite small
But that doesn't mean
I shouldn't love him at all
The loss of a pet truly hurts.
