One face looks out from his eyes, a pure reflection of his deepest desire.
Flawed skin, unkempt hair, thick thighs - he sees her every flaw and accepts  them.
Every scar and freckle, every strand of frizzy hair, every single stretch mark that appears, he sees everything, and still he worships her.
The clumsy way she walks.
The way she sings too loudly with the radio.
The sparkle in her eye every time she sees a dog,
He sees her, and he loves her.
Her flaws become his obsession
And no matter how she appears to the world,
To him, she is nothing but perfection.

How can it be this bad?
Nothing bad is going on,
Everything is so simple
So put together perfectly.

On the outside, it's perfect
Mom and Dad married
Older brother, younger sister
Nice house, good neighborhood.

Top of class
Future mostly planned
Good paying job
Volunteers in community

Behind the closed doors,
Behind the put together girl
Was the girl struggling to live
Every moment was a struggle.

Tears of pain and suffering
All in silence
Because no one sees past
The perfect look life she possesses

I suppose
In my sudden
And terribly jarring realization
That I am, in fact, human
I was struck by how utterly terrifying
Being human is
And not just fear of mortality
But the understanding
Of what I am capable of
And I’ve since learned
That once perfection is no longer an option,
Everything else becomes
Horribly intriguing

Some people strive for perfection
Without knowing what perfection is

I disappointed myself today
Not that it probably would have mattered
Because sometimes I'm just sad
And today is one of those days
So, I'm going to sit.
On my couch.
In sweats.
Eating chips.
Watching TV.
Writing poetry.
Until it stops hurting.
Or until I'm interrupted, whichever comes first.

Ceaseless search for fleeting motivation

Motivation to create
Motivation to perfect

Things are better left unfinished than imperfect

So I stay unmotivated to fail
One thing that keeps humans from progressing faster is the fear of failing, of being imperfect.
That's why this poem stayed a draft for a whole year.

I know you still love me,
I can hear the tremble in your whisper,
For what crime have I committed,
For what lie am I a sinner?

I can feel you falling,
You’re afraid of tripping again,
But I’ll catch you this time,
So let’s start from the end.

I can feel all your pain,
Through your words filled with tears,
You’re attached to the Train,
And your ticket is fear.

I’ll love you until the end,
No matter the path you choose,
You ask why you're perfect to me,
And my answer is you.

I believe it’s still within you,
You’re holding back your emotions,
Please give yourself some love,
And I’ll be the one to hold it.

a tiny seed germinates
in the recesses of your mind
slowly infecting your innocence
wrapping its black tentacles
around your creative heart
bludgeoning the happiness
that once resided there
once perfection takes root
we are blind to freedom
we become a slave
