Few things in life
Bring pleasure
And happiness
Like a friend.

To play games
To share snacks,
To hug,
To love.

To be woken up in the morning
By your notification
That begs and begs
"Get up and play!"

To snuggle with
When it's cold
To stay warm
When snow falls

To hear the
Pitter-patter
Of their feet
Just out the door.

To go outside
Together, forever
Like siblings
Like roommates.

A man's best friend
And a woman's too
Is a happy, loving,
Playful
Dog.
This was my Hello Poetry submission poem. It's about dogs, of course! Sorry that it doesn't rhyme, I usually rhyme my poetry.

You were beautiful
Inside and outside..

But when I know the real you
You're beautiful only the outside..

Trail
eyes blending the murky colors
as they slowly lick the landscape
tickling with the edge of tongues
warm pastels
as if
creamsicle dripping
the edges of fingers
somehow now
lining evergreens
rushing turquoise blending with navy
denim white caps
as fresh water churns alongside
smoothing edges of rocks
I dip my spine
the hemispheric shape of my back
as it extends over the damp
dripping moss
you cradle my body
the warmth moves between
the sensations
of shudders
as we cling alongside
one another
your lips part
as the foreign color
of red
stands out to the cold,
dimly lit nature
I bite deep
gasp,
scream
weep.
******* in the woods.

Where goldfish's  in
                   a bowl of air

Forgetting to breath...

Neglecting the beauty we see
           memories are fickle things

We swim in circles, expecting to
noticed, but all we need to do
is realize the bowl isn't real....

Umber maple leaflets dwindle
Dance amongst my barren feet
Past the field of roses flourish
Roots entangle underneath

Rest my soil in golden hues and
Let them bloom in greatest pride
As the sunlight carries on and
Deftly strokes their thorny spines

And as the moon howls
The reaper sows and
Harvests many plants alike
Gabriel burnS Nov 2017
they say there is no other life
but here inside this body
here within this skull
measured by the goodbyes
of countless nows
but to me there is
yes, outside this box
on the blank sheet
seemingly flat
endlessly deep
in infinite dimensions
Contoured Nov 2017
They let me out today,
The demons in my head.
Left the gate unlocked,
"Leave the cage," they said.
I took one step outside,
The sunlight burned my skin.
My body wanted to leave,
But my mind stayed in.
I've left the cage before,
Several years ago.
I escaped that time,
They didn't let me go.
As I left the cage,
Thoughts flooded in.
Thoughts of things I've done,
Thoughts of where I've been.
I got too overwhelmed,
By my presently haunting past.
I could've been their first escape,
But I always finish last.

I just want to go outside
The stretch between classes is just enough of a tease
wind blowing, leaves flying, the sun warming my face
And then walls.
Walls closing in, walls enclosing knowledge, some walls that are just walls
My seat can’t be by the windows, too many distractions.
Twitchy feet and a wandering mind
What am I to do?
Day after day, my routine is stuck
food, class, lift until I collapse, food again, and then turning,
Facing that monstrous pile of work breaking my desk
The sun shines, the leaves play
I can do work outside
lies and compromise
Chained to the desk as time ticks by
I just want to go outside
