So I had more than I needed to drink, enthused away the heavy
Managed to let go of it for long enough to be an approachable friend
And fall flat on my face on the dance floor, and lose my bottle and bag to London's foreign legion
It was a good night and a warm reminder of why I'm here

Forgive me though if I'm brought back to those same old nags
One is a permanent part of the programming
A variable that resculpts moments, sometimes with a lack of clarity, otherwise too intense a saturation
I'm not here to talk about it, but the context needs to be there

The other is that same old chase of the cats
Throwing yourself with arms behind you into an encounter without even realising it
Because that one took your hand and let you kiss her

I remember the moment, and nothing else, the evidence of failure only found in drunk texts and a phone that's turned off
Really hits home after a while
Weirdest thing is though.. is that I've taken a lesson from it
One that for some reason gives me a sad smile, and yet an empowering one

If I relax into life, work off the coughs and work on the plans
Ease off the deceptions and distractions, as far as I can
I.e. just carry on with this stupid self involved process
I'll have another moment like that somewhere along the way
Whether by circumstances I've put myself in or by the random roll of the dice

And this time, instead of the worst crashing in front of her in ways I don't even remember
I'll be ready to show everything that's good about me
And if that last girl's look was anything to go by

It'll be enough

In the shame and darkened shade,
perhaps such shame being yours -
or do you carry theirs like the cross?
With a thorn-crown for gratitude

Scream for the pain that is yours,
or for what is theirs.
Give them the chance to see
the opportunity which they refused.

To die is to live -
Having died, your life can complete
Your point which may be mute or deafened later,
You may die this way - but if you never let them try
how can they ever see -

I strut with confidence alongside her; she "fails" to acknowledge me
I try to attain her attention with my friends; she continues to ignore us three?
We decide of something else. We chose to go up to her and join her party
Whilst remained fixed on her dress which was Sacramento and sparkly

Bedazzled from her dress it seemed I was in the dreamworld
I had somehow dreamed that she approached with a kiss and swirled.
"Time to do it"I had repeated to myself. I grabbed her hand. I twirled her like a figure skater.
Finally,I found out she or he was a transgender, so...later?

In he wanders
Exactly the right time
Saying all the right things

Don't be a lesson
Dressed in sweet nothings
Bones wrapped in skin and eyes that crinkle into happiness
Inspiring hope and muscles moving into unstoppable grins
Only to tear apart, opportunity to learn not to trust or love too easily

Don't be a lesson
Be a reality
A perfectly timed opportunity for happiness

In then out.
Flashes.
Here then no more.
Mankind witnessed through my glass window.
Opportunity to breed relationship,
Gone forever.
Who are they?
What do they know?
What could they teach me?
How much could love them?
Though as our non-existent bond is severed,
Never to be given that chance returned,
So then God takes over.
Watching.
Protecting.
Guiding.
Comforting.
But then aren't we sometimes that stranger
Seen through someone's window glass?

Two people on a bridge;
one looks downstream
the other upstream
Two people, one bridge
two different perspectives;

One sees the water gone past,
laments for its loss
The other sees the water coming
and rejoices at the opportunity

In life, you can lament what's past
and miss the good that's coming
Or you can turn the other way
and seize the moment -
Depends if you choose
to look upstream or downstream...
We so often cry over what we lost, stare down that river of lost, forgotten dreams, that we fail to grasp the wonder of that which is still to come

I have a chance
Not chance
Opportunity

See, I’m learning to assert self
To claim space
And here is the time
The place
Ah, excitement!

Into my own power
The start of something
That’s what the cards read
Let’s start something!!

The reckless within me is chattering now
Infatuated curiosity peeps
What will happen next?!

Maybe I’m a drama queen
It riles something within me
Oh hit my spot!

Temptation divine
The danger of it all !
Freedom ~
Ah, life.
Ah, me.

Here we go
Abundance galore

Life is too short to run back to the people who burnt you,
The opportunities that left you,
And the doors that slammed shut.

It's time to move on
And build on the new.
