None smells roses’ fragrance until they bloom,
Or basks in the sun’s light until clouds break.
Our life begins with mother’s open womb,
Openly breathing every breath we take.

Even the blind can pray for open eyes,
To see the images his dreams can see.
Just as the mute must long to verbalize,
A vessel closed must let its contents free.

All life is a walk through an open door.
There is no grace without an open hand.
Arms open to embrace what we adore,
An open mind to learn and understand.

While failing love may have torn us apart,
All goodness must come from an open heart.

As a mortal you will die;
in exchange, a chance at life.
Though it is not guaranteed,
moments, are odds to be seized.

We wake at sunlight and nestle in at moonlight,
Stretching the day with our toughest fight.

Hour by hour, we hustle for power,
Dull today, tomorrow it'll shower.

Hold back on decision, for you risk derision,
Venture not, its not your mission.

No not this ticket, its too expensive,
No not that man, he will leave you pensive.

Remember those opportunities you wanted to unlock,
Well its just too late, the coffin mocks..

A world full of open doors is an unsecure place.

If you are too lazy to twist the ****,
You do not deserve what is in store for you.

If you are too afraid to twist the ****,
Then maybe you should put a ring on fear's finger.

Obviously that's who you would love to spend the rest of your life with.

A door stood closed to me.
I knocked; no answer.
You gave me the key
Then forbid my entrance.

–          –          –

I was dying of thirst
You poured me a glass
But forbid me to drink

–          –          –

How can you act surprised, that I persisted?
How can you claim betrayal?
Why would you lead me on-
only to take away my hope?
What you are is cruel.
You said I broke the trust between us. That is not how trust works...

Days of Heat Hazes trail behind me
On a path I've chosen to walk alone
To reside by the wild tumbleweeds
Too hostile for mankind's brittle, cold bones

Often, I think of the days gone by
Laced in a bittersweet requiem
That hums ever so softly in my mind
Hidden by a face that's machiavellian
Made by those I came here to forget

Through the incessant thunderstorm
That dominates this part of the land
I've found a way to become reborn
At the end of a long winded Texan tunnel
Made by those I came here to inspect
And transform into an invaluable asset

If you watch the next friend's reaction
Or anyone you pay a kind compliment to
Notice a sparkle light up their eyes
If given opportunity spread love, it's free to do!
Spread kindness around like confetti

Opportunity should be leashed,
             make it respect you.
Never let it
                    *** up your leg.
As opportunity only respects
          those who will walk it.

And then you can let it run free,
as it'll always come back
                                 time after time.

I have regrets
so do you...right?
Maybe a slip of tongue
that stabbed trust
A mishap, maybe slight klutziness
causing success to sigh
and leave for the exit
A life empty of regret
is non-humane
so is a life of regret
when choices are standing
opportunities are waving
possibilities waiting for you
and there you are
standing,
observing,
fascinated but scared,
"comfortable"
and chanting to yourself
Maybe it's not worth it

A stronger sense of a shifting alliance,
a richer aroma of a growing assurance,
a longer shadow of an alternate position
and a faint echo of a younger ambition,
coalescing into a whisper
of a change of direction,
cracking open a narrow door
of renewed anticipation
and waiting for me
to PUSH.
Prompted by a line in a novel; 'a sense of shifting potential'.
