In this world, you will have troubles
painful troubles leaving you empty
they tempt me to indulge in temporary pain relief
You know it in the form of liquid, pills, or razor blades
Soon the luster fades and I’m left with the same pain that brought me here and then some
New scars don’t fade
New addictions I can’t break
Am I here by mistake?
What I used to numb my pain turned into just another source of it
In this world, you will have troubles
It’s ok
"I have overcome this world of pain"
"In this world you will have troubles, but take heart for I have overcome the world." JOHN 16:33

Oh, it's in this area of love, I've been wounded too many times
that my heart has gone numb as I'm now left dabbling in meters and rhymes.
Simple Observation #465. From 'Simple Observations' ongoing writings since the early 90's.

In the heart of my dream place,
where I'd always yearned to be,
there's an inexplicable melancholy
that wraps around me like a heavy shroud.

It's curious, you see,
how one can stand in the very midst of their dreams
and still feel so profoundly distant from happiness.

It's as though my emotions have been muted,
rendered numb
by the overwhelming weight of this place.

The vibrant colors of my aspirations seem dulled,
the laughter I'd imagined echoes
only faintly in the recesses of my mind.

Here, amidst the fulfillment of my desires,
a shadow lingers—
a persistent ache that refuses to be dispelled.

I thought I'd soar in this dreamland,
but instead, I find myself
tethered to the ground,
my spirit heavy with an unexplained sorrow.

It was always pointless,
I was just naive.
You were a disappointment:
The ways you lied to me.

Moist and runny
Loose lipped, ******
Once this host has died, latch
Onto a new body.

Entwined-
Somebody, stop me.
Everything I say, I never believe.
Every phrase and action

Nothing
If I killed myself tomorrow

With what I've gone through?
On the other end of the stick,
It's a sick kind of feeling:
Once, I knew you.

Hollow words echo, speaking
Of what was then. And now I
Ask when? This love that
Rests, and has not died.

When do hearts mend?
How long before love grows strong again?
What will it take, will you ever understand?

Sumus qui sumus
Ego sum qui sum

Silently, I wade through a dead sea
Forgoing the attempts, forlorn-
At regaining what I once believed:
To be real, to be deceived
The gambit run, when
Hearts are burning.

The faults of our stars,
Are that they linger
So far away.

And the crux of our minds,
Their aptitude for replay

My body feels
So hollow.
I never knew how heavy
Emptiness could be.

They say it is a silent killer
but I have never heard a din so loud as the chemicals consume my brain
the voices in my head screaming for more
coercing my conscience

"just one, wait, that wasn't enough, a little more.. just a little more"

over and over
the cycle repeats
again and again

My heart is racing
my body is numb
I exhale
all the hurt
all the haunting memories
gone

over and over
the cycle repeats
again and again

"just one, wait, that wasn't enough, a little more.. just a little more"

What fresh invention,
Breaking with convention;
To press down with anger,
And drive firm with depression.
Comfort in the arms, of a
Thorny ex. Bathed in attention.
A hopeless obsession- the silenced
Tongue wags,
In this quiet procession.
I wept.
For my love had ceased to exist at that moment.
Before me stood an imposter; a false idol -
With a form identical to the elegance and splendor of Hers,
But whose eyes stared through me with no warmth
Eyes that gave me no hope for a future worth forging,
Eyes that dart through my heart- tearing and shattering
All that is and was.
I no longer weep.
Memories leading up to the moment,
Find themselves everyday in thoughts.
Eviscerating heart and mind again and again
And again and again.
I can not weep.
