The darkness calls to me.

Luring me in,
with the temptation,
of solitude.

It whispers,
full of promises,
of escape.

I hear it sing,
as it encompasses,
everything.

I hear it laugh,
as the shadows,
dance.

It beckons me,
to be submerged,
willingly.

Attracting me,
with the release,
of pain.

I call to the darkness.

If I cannot even take care of myself
how can I take care of others

If I cannot even love myself
how can I love others

If I cannot really live
this life I’ve been given
how can I
justify
continuing
to exist

belle femme soleil
eccentric pulchritude
little roses and
lilacs
echo from her
face with
elusive shadow tears. she
mourns for years and years…
my fair lady, sing your melody,
energizing the heavens with your
song of the sun and sea
over the hills and far away
little stars twinkle in your
empty soul
in your moon drunken heart, tell me which you dread more, the
lie, the echo or the answer

I knew it was love
When I stopped caring about myself
And all I saw was you.
The world stopped spinning,
The planets all aligned,
And all I saw was you.

It was then, I think,
I died a little.
You feel nothing of the like for me
I know this, it's true
The stars shine, not for me, but for you
It was then,
I died a little.

When our messages became curt and short
When you became distracted by everyone else
I think I died a little.

I missed you more than my own vitality
I hurt more when she hurt you
I don't know what's wrong
All I know is,
I think I died a little.

I hope someday we can speak of this
I hope you will see how our souls are tied
Because I will, eventually, need you to know
Just how many times, for you,
I died.

Deeper than love, deeper than me
deeper and deeper and deeper she pleads
maybe too deep that I think she's a freak
maybe too deep in the deep-end again
so deep, this time, I come across her weak
hold her close
feel her breathe
chest rise, and rise collapse
at my feet, eclipsed
in her eyes they rinse and hang me
so short lived, I wish
she could still be, I wish she believed
the same wind shaking trees
chopping waves, cools the sea, shifting clouds
til sunray-bounce off your melanin hip
- mountain range in you, snow-capped
dissolving into sea salt-spray
perfume on Cloth
grapes under foot.
I can never confuse one season for her.

Nicotine for breakfast
It washes down the pills

Nicotine for lunch
It washes down the energy drink

Nicotine for Dinner
It washes down the alcohol

Nicotine for when I'm sad
It keeps the feelings from bursting out

Nicotine for when I'm happy
Or so I assume

Nicotine for when I'm alone
And I'm always alone

Nicotine when I can't bear it anymore
Unconditional love both ways. Ref 018
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Unconditional love both ways.
Now I do my part and you do yours
Chastise me if you need to but hold
On to this thought .There is no flaw.
Now if it's unconditional it's mutual
Don't you think that is most fair ?
I love and respect my darling girl
That said I know she loves me too
I hope our lives will last forever
On every occasion in storm or calm
Naturally in sickness and in health
And for better and of course worst
Love has to be that way not maybe
Love has to be ALWAYS not fickle
Otherwise many conditions fail.
Very often respect is sadly lost
Eruptions of rage always forgiven
By one that loves unconditionally.
One that adores his darling girl.
The one that wants you day n night
Happy in the knowledge of love.
Where would we find a better mate
A mate that can display love 24/7
Year in Year out unconditionally
Simply look me in the eyes n know.
A Friday night.
A slippery street.
A man, intoxicated.
Sitting in the driver's seat.
A family.
A man and his wife.
A young child.
Worthy of life.
A young adolescent.
A night with a loved one.
Never thought for a moment
It might be the last one.
A poor decision.
A light turned red.
A delayed reaction.
Head-on collision.
A first responder.
A face, bleach white.
A shirt stained red
They've lost their fight.
A stretcher in an ambulance.
A paramedic on the call.
A dreaded flat line.
They've tried and lost them all.
A police officer
On the phone, against the wall.
"Hello, this is the police.
I'm really sorry I have to make this call."
A funeral for a family
Every casket closed.
Everyone is asking why.
They never got to say goodbye.
A female kneeling at the grave
looking down with bloodshot eyes
"I love you and I want you back,
I hope you hear me from the sky"
That poor decision was a choice
You said it wasn't worth catching a ride
And you can't ever take it back now
These are families torn apart and dead inside
