the medals on my chest weigh heavy
they drag me down
gold is hard to carry
when the glimmer gets old

Dusting off the chains
that wrap around this heart.
Polish them until they shine
so golden in the dark.

chains so strong,
they can withstand time
and everything that
tries to break them.

Chains so bright,
it's all anyone ever sees
and they turn away
from the real treasure underneath.

If they fall with just one look
I'm sure it's the gold
that's got them hooked.
And you'll leave them in the dust.

But if they see past the fool,
to the darkness deep below.
And search until they find your heart
then they'll hold your soul.

And pray to God
that they truly care
for if they make it far
a single word would be enough
to tear you from the dark.

Broken is renewed
Honored for its damages
Better than before
I love the idea and crafting of the Japanese custom of Kintsugi, it is the repairing of pottery that has broken with gold. With this custom things broken are preciously repaired with most valuable gold, honoring the items for their repairs and broken pieces rather than discarding them for their flaws. People are to me this way, we should honor them for their broken hearts abuses from the past, respecting their healing and recovery. Because that person is unique in all the world. Even though they may have pushed you away broken your heart or vise versa, you may never know how hard the battle is that they are waging in their mind and soul.

Little lady,
let me remind you,
that you needn't compare
your swamp green scars
to anyone else's,
needn't compare
your copper abilities to
the platinum ones
of those marble gods you admire,
in order to measure
a worth which needn't be measured
on the golden scales of
self criticism and loathing.
There is space under the sun
for all of us.

Greed has a way of corrupting

It can be disrupting

Greed drives some mad

And others to do bad

Greed weaves its way

Deep into your heart

Until one day

You fall apart

Some say money

Can buy happiness

I find that quite funny

Because for many it leads to unhappiness

People throw their relationships away

Just to get more gold

Your life has no replay

So why waste time on gold before you're old

Money is useless

It does nothing but harm

It condemned Judas

Much to his alarm

Love of money goes nowhere

It only leads to dark paths

Where you can hardly breathe air

And are thrown onto rafts

Greed has a way of corrupting

It can be disrupting

Greed drives some mad

And others to do bad

And many to be sad

And none to be truly glad

I let go and fall, fall, fall — ever so deep —
Into the cracks between your pieces
They’re the only way to your heart.
Let me swim through the crevices
Like a diver in the mines.

Ive struck gold.

The monster wanted love from the maiden
And gold that the townspeople paid him
When it came time to collect
Him the maiden did reject
To contain his wrath none could persuade him

Gold doesn't mean anything
Compared to you
Get rid of shiny things
And start anew
Gold can't compare
to your sapphire eyes
Over and over
too many tries
To get your love
Even gold isn't enough
to replace your touch
Golden roses
can't replace
your petal soft lips
So close
Almost touching my fingertips
Gold doesn't mean anything
compared to your silky skin
Please don't run away
Just let me in
All the gold in the world
Could never buy my love for you

You have always had a heart of gold, my extraordinary one.

And even though you had to learn how to not give your heart to those who don’t see its value, you are still valuable.

So go and retrieve what is rightfully yours from the mud, where those who hurt you left it. Pick up your heart of gold and cleanse it with the revitalizing waters from the river known as self love.

Place it back in your chest and show the world that your heart of gold still shines bright.

I read once about an ancient practice
to repair broken things

They would take the shattered pieces
of bowls, jars, glasses, pottery,
and fill the sharp cracks with liquid gold

Translucent, shimmering lines
along jagged edges.
Highlighting the imperfections.

Showing that in life,
that which has been broken,
may be made beautiful all the same.
