traces of being Mar 2017
Once I had a friend
    and soulmate,
we were dreamin’
we could fly away
    with the wind;
    but knowing
wings are for angels,
we stood transfixed
  beneath the light
  a sky full of stars

hanging onto a dream
we clutched so tightly,
      perched high
      on the edge
      of the world,
wondering how far
     and how high
the great wide open
     sky blue skies
           abide

believing the power
  of kept promises ―
you said you’d forever
catch me if I fall ―
letting go of the fears,
 blindfolded hope
clinched so deeply,
    hanging onto
a wing and a prayer

I guess I wanted it
     far too much
     reaching out
  like a thirsty fool
grasping for a mirage ―
teetering on the brink
    unspoken love,
   a vast unknown
  threshold beyond
          wings

with eyes wide open
throwing caution afar ―
   in a leap of faith
I reached ― out of reach
   into the mystic wind ―
    believing in dreams,
      in destiny's tease:
       I’d learn to fly
         before I hit
        the ground

but now I’m perpetually
          free fallin’
  I see the empty space
   all around me pass
a fleeting lifetime lost ―
   still  you’re nowhere
       to be found ―
    and I remember
what’s been forgotten:

       how far down
  rock bottom befalls
  when your spinning
    round and round
      like dust eddies
        in a fog bank
      lost in the wind                             .

"And I see losing love
Is like a window in your heart
Everybody sees you're blown apart
Everybody sees the wind blow"

I owe you more than you know,
And yet I the fool do not show.
At what is hard pressed to be expressing.
With this fear,
That is very clear.
I play the caution of my lamenting,
Where my mind goes, there I reside.
But what then does that make me?
A lost soul out at sea?
My words scatter and fail me,
And all that will be left is my actions to prevail thee.
So I simply float on this brazen blue,
Still at times my mind wraps around you.
Thinking, dreaming, and trying to understand,
That I need to change.
To be more,
Than a foolish man.

We almost made it
Hence the word almost
You left with no trace

Do you regret leaving?
I* am a mess without you
Don't pretend we were nothing

You promised you'd be there for me
Only me
Unfortunately, you lied

Liquor is now your replacement
Eating seems pointless
After you left, everything lost meaning
Volcano meets tornado
Erase my foolishness

Maybe I still love you
Even now, when you don't deserve it

*?
This is an acrostic poem I wrote a long time ago...

Yes I love you, but I'm not a fool anymore
Yes I love you, but it Really hurts
Yes I love you, but love, Im giving up.
Letting go isnt hard.
Seth Milliman Mar 2017
We make fools of us all,
The treaded road we carry on with.
Detailed moments caught but not seen,
Important lines drawn but ignored.
Will I ever see beyond my own horizon?
Detailed but not seen fully,
I wish to know the answer.
What road could be meant for me?
Rafael Melendez Mar 2017
I spoke to her yet again.

I've seen all that she can do even though I've only ever seen her once. I've heard promises and spoken words. They slide off her tongue as smoothly as the genuine truth, but it isn't the same as when I first met her.
I've come to terms with no longer knowing who she is, but the fact that I can still read her like the palm of my hand has me asking why I still speak to her.

I'm fully in control of the outcome, but I'm still lost. Engulfed like a moth to a flame, dying slowly knowing that I know her better than I know myself.
I'm a fool.
A girl I know.

I don’t believe a word you say;
You voted for Trump, so go away.
I don’t want your opinion any more
On literally any kind of issue.
Though you now begin to realize
What you did to us all. Get a tissue.
Go stand in the corner and let us
Adults fix up the mess you made.
None of you paid attention
Further than the second grade.

It’s not truly all your fault, I confess.
We have to lay blame on the press.
I’m not much happier with the
Millions who didn’t even vote.
They stayed home and ******;
Made the country miss the boat.
A lazy, worthless population
Is a shameful kind of circumstance
But a stupid loudmouthed bunch of fools
Is at the prom without any pants.

Then we look to a political group
That rolls around in their own ****
By electing a pompous baboon
Who can barely read or spell
Who spews out daily jabberwocky
That drives us all to a kind of hell.
He's an attention ***** and monster.
A spoiled rich brat with no brains
Who wants to set fire to the USA
Then urinate on the remains.

The horror is, though it’s all visible
Your lack of care about facts is risible.
You gladly go along with him when
He blames his predecessor instead,
Saying the fault is what your idiot did
Not keeping the truth firmly in your head.
It’s no longer campaign rhetoric.
So please wake the hell up and see
What your stupidity is doing to us
Because we can’t bend you over our knees.
Chalsey Wilder Mar 2017
Not everything or everyone is for a lifetime
But for a season
Sometimes you come across them only for a certain reason
Learning is caring, cruel
Knowledge is carrying wisdom to the fool
The personal price is set once you take the risk
"At what price?"
"My happiness."
Breakups aren't that bad

The air is heavy
None can breathe.
In this place
No smiles, just grief.

A barren wasteland.
Fallout from the Phantoms.
Menaces whose pleasures lie
In the pain and misery
Of those beneath them.

Their feet press
Down upon the chests.
Anxiety builds like
Pressure from a fire hose
Capable of tearing
Flesh from bone,
Crushing rib and spine
Leaving one in
Dread and despair,
Like lost souls
Over a scorched earth
From burning hell fire.

There is no joy.
No satisfaction.
No sense of community.
Only desolation and desert
With dead camels,
And vultures
Circling their rotting corpses;
Life ****** right out.

In here,
The fools leading fools
Leading the Intellect,
And no end in sight
From this eternal misery
